Perhaps the only field that has smaller dimensions then Citizens Bank Park is the stadium in Williamsport where they play the Little League World Series.
@ pete, you just lost all credibility by using batting avg to backup your argument, I bet you think wins are the most important pitching stat too eh? Upton had a great season with an .899 OPS at 21 followed by a drop to .799 the following year (last year) where everyone said he was regressing and wasn’t going to be very good blah blah blah. He seemed to rebound just fine in 2011. So will Heyward
I’m sick of seeing folks talk about us needing Middle Relieve Pitchers….Get one of those “Prospects” we keep holding on to to pitch middle relief! Good Grief! Pitching aint’ the freaking problem. Its week hitting right now.
Rascal, I also agree with atl29fan…the varsity is a must…and the nicest places are downtown (which is just a couple of miles from the stadium). If you are on a budget for hotels, however, stick int he vicinity of the airport. Lots of competition down there and most of the places are decent or even better. On the dining front, gotta hit up Fox Bros. for the best brisket ever (pork and ribs aren’t bad either), lots of great dining places in an area we call little 5 points (including Front Page News and Tijuana Garage – a New Orleans bistro and southwest cantina respectably). Grant Central in east Atlanta Village has awesome pizza, and the Earl in East Atlanta has a prretty good burger, but noting compared to Miss Ann’s Ghetto Burger on Memorial. Man, I’m getting hungry listing these places!
@ falcons4eva we are just hoping to get someone ANYONE, to pitch so we can throw proctor to the lions!!lol, Honestly, the team could use a more reliable end of game type of RH arm so we can rest our big three pen arms a bit more often. Moylan hasn’t really been that good for a few years.
DOB I would be happy with anyone you talked about except Ludwick. he is not having a good year.

Agreed. Scoring consistantly shifts the pressure onto the opposition pitching and off ours. It’s wearing, stressful to constantly pitch game after game with little or no run support, or from behind. Our starters could last longer if they could give up a few runs, and still have a lead.
“Rabbit, why would you limit that to left handed starters instead of all left handed pitchers?”
nolieee – Bourn has only had 4 at bats vs LH relievers this year but 112 against LH starters which would seem to make it a much more reliable statistical sample.
@Nick B. I agree, so we can go by OPS+ the best stat for power hitting outfielders. Heywards is 90 at the age of 21. That is what an average middle infielder would have. Uptons was 129. OPS Heyward’s is .705 Uptons was 899 Anything else you want to discuss?
Perhaps the only field that has smaller dimensions then Citizens Bank Park is the stadium in Williamsport where they play the Little League World Series.”
If Houston won’t give us Bourn at a reasonable price, then stand pat ! We don’t need to spend alot of money renting players. Bourn would be the only player out of all the afore mentioned that would give us a legitimate shot at Philly or San Fran……Don’t sink next years ship this late in the season….we’re gonna need some help next year too……
He’s going to rebound to Upton if not better. I just showed you that Upton had a major fall off of 100 points in OPS and rebounded this year. Expect the same in Heyward. Did you not notice that Dave Winfield (a player of similar build as Heyward) started out very slowly? He didn’t break .800 OPS until age 25!!! Yet he’s in the HOF. So stop expecting young players to develop into superstars overnight. This isn’t football. You sound like an angry little weasel man

Price for B.J. Upton or Quentin would likely be 2 of our 4 deadly pitcher prospects to where Bourn is 1 of them packaged with some minor players. Wren would be smart to get Bourn but he also wants a little more pop. Upton would likely be Minor/Delgado. Bourn will be Minor/Martinez/Gearin.

Rascal,
For tickets I use StubHub almost all the time now. We almost always get good seats for less than face. IMHO the best value is in the Upper Box, sort by row # and grab anything in row 1 or 2 between 410 and 411 (1st-home-3rd arc) with 401/402 being right behind home plate. If you can get in Terrace 206 area you will love the view from there as well.
We sat in outfield row 1 the other day, and the batter looks so far, far away to me.
NickB… I agree with most of your points on Heyward. I was having the same argument about Dom Brown with a another Phillie fan who hates him. I was saying how is numbers are essential about the same as Utley’s through 100 games. I also believe as most do the Heyward is a better prospect then Brown. But there is no guarantee that Heyward or anyone else is going to rebound. You can look at a ton of can’t miss players who never made it. Take Francour or Burrell for example both had a ton of success very early and neither ever reach those totals again. There is no guarantees in this league.

It is obvious that Bourn is a talented player, but he is NOT what the Braves need. The problem with most Braves losses is not a lack of base runners, it is a lack of someone DRIVING THEM IN. How many times have Heyward and Gonzalez come to bat with men in scoring position, and they not only didn’t drive them in, they couldn’t even move them up. Very frustrating to see that time after time. What the Braves need is a right-handed slugger who can actually at least hit a fly ball out of the infield to actually score someone. Unless Bourn steals home, he will be stranded on second or third like all the other baserunners.

Unless Bourn steals home, he will be stranded on second or third like all the other baserunners.

you don’t need to be a slugger to hit a sac fly, and we already get plenty of homers. mostly with nobody on base

BILLY HUNTER, DON LARSON and BOB TURLEY were in the BROWNS/O’s pipeline to the YANKEES during the 50’s.
