too = also
July 30th, 20119:14 pm
If you can not replace “too” with also, then you are not using the word correctly
Let’s say we get Bourn. Who plays left until Chipper gets healthy (if he does at all)?
Yeah, I was a Santo fan too.
Agree that no one compare to our 7-8-9 guys.
July 30th, 20119:15 pm
Any way the source is accurate. No matter where it’s from. We will have to see. I go there a lot for info. It’s all cool…..
July 30th, 20119:16 pm
I keep saying that Wren has made his big deal when he got Nieves and will hang around the dumpster until the deadline and if a big bat comes along for $1.00 he will grab it.
Jimenez pulled after one inning with Colorado. He gave up 4 runs.
July 30th, 2011
SemperFi… Chipper is a hall of Famer definitely. But it is a little early to put McCann there. He has a chance though
A chance? If he continues to perform as he has so far in his career, he is a lock.

Pirates Jason McDonald (W) @ Braves: 5 IP, 8 Hits, 0 ER, 9 Ks
McDonald @ Philly: 5 IP, 10 Hits, 5 ER, 5 Ks
Prado in Left, Bourn in Center, and Heyward in Right.heard we could try ,and get another out fielder too.
driver8.. I agree the Braves are a very good team as well as the Giants. THe NL i think has 3 very good teams. Also anything can happen in a short series as you have said. Look at 1993. WHo was the better team? Of course the Braves but you never know and thats why all of this is fun
July 30th, 20119:18 pm
I’m still trying to figure out how Constanza got some many triples in AAA???…Chop
he hit it to toward the pitcher and all the infielders fell down. happens all the time when a runner has such blazing speed.
Accurate? You think a blog is fan site is a viable source of information? Not slamming you but suggesting SI as a source when clearly they weren’t the source is a bit misleading.

With some luck Quintin….j/k Hiske for now after nate/schafer whoever can walk and is still on the roster.
Tomahawkin ate too much food.
Tomahawkin ate also much food.
Can’t trade Bethancourt! Ross took a shot to the pills.
Careful, Omar. Don’t hurt Rossy! We can’t afford to lose him, too!
Every man watching the game just curled up in pain
July 30th, 20119:19 pm
Jimenez”s heart wasn’t in it tonight, huh.
Mac is thinking “God, I know what that feels like!” OUCH! Poor Ross.
Ouch! And I’m not even a guy, but I know that had to hurt
Bourn and Quentin would be so IDEAL for the Braves. WoW! who needs a farm system right???
Rossy looks a little Green after that foul ball to the ……well you know
July 30th, 20119:20 pm
Can’t really blame him
Rob In Fayetteville
@Rally – This from mlbtraderumors.com: “8:12pm: Ubaldo is getting hugs in the dugout and has been removed from the game. The deal appears to be going through.”
Looks like Ubaldo is an Indian. That’s a surprise…
Braveheart, Bourn has 193 SB since 2007. Melky has 53
Man……I am still hurting over what happened too Ross
July 30th, 20119:21 pm
Andrew in PA
@Dejan_Kovacevic phils starting lineup makes a combined $89,519,046 The pirates lineup tonight is under 8 million combined. Perspective.
Maybe Colorado started Jimenez just to force that 4th prospect out of Cleveland’s hands.
Come on, Jonny V, get Sanchez!!!
For real. I thought he was Dominican
I would offer Houston SS-Hicks, RHP-Marek, LHP-Richardson, CF-Young for Bourn. No stars (of course I do not think Bourn is a star necessarily but significant upgrade from Braves and best CF available), but all would be on Houston’s active roster and contribute to their rebuilding process. Assuming Houston turns down this offer, move on to Upton or Byrd (I think Byrd is best fit for Braves, but also think Upton could improve dramatically once he gets out of Tampa). Tier 3 CF for me would be Pagan, Gutierrez, Crisp, and Fowler.
The Rich gets Richer
Jeffrey d, that’s funny.
Hey, let’s wait ,and see. I look all over for info, and some times blogs run deep, and can be true…….
July 30th, 20119:22 pm
“Bourn has a lower OPS over the last 3 seasons than Melky”
Just my opinion, but OPS is less important when you are talking about a leadoff hitter like Bourn. OPS slightly weighs slugging more than on-base, but for a leadoff hitter on-base is much more important than slugging.
Jiminez has been pulled after 1 inning….
Bourn plus a power hitter… This needs to happend
maybe it’s rust
Ok… Settle down JV.
Uh oh. Time to start paying attention to the game.
JC from DR! (You gotta tip your cap to ____)
Crap! I guess had Venters had TOO much rest!
This ain’t funny anymore.
Yikes, forgot there is a game going on.
July 30th, 20119:23 pm
Hope,Ross had protection!
Bags are full of Fish, nowhere left for Jonny to put ‘em.
Attendance tonight is 40,656
Come on Vulture. Don’t blow this son!
Everyday Johnny knows what to do.
The last guy that I want to see with bases loaded.
JV hasn’t pitched since the 26th (probably feels like a month to him) … he must have a little rust on the ole arm.
I do not dispute that Ward…..Hey I like reading all those sites as well but to give a site like that the weight of SI credibility is a bit much.
Good one, Jeffrey
July 30th, 20119:24 pm
Kerry Wood vetod a trade to philly
This has gotten WAY to interesting right now…
Bourn doesn’t hit for much power, but the guy can take a walk, steal a base and play pretty damn good D. Works for me as long as we aren’t giving up too much.
looks like Jonny got too much rest lately
Whats the Scoop from the Braves Front Office?? Are we standing pat (bad idea) or are they Going for players?
Just curious……what is the Max capacity at the Ted?
July 30th, 20119:25 pm
Bourn and Willingham i would pee my pants
BAMM, he just got Ventilated!!!
*Ventilated term is TM protected…
Good job Johnny
Hanley Ramirez strikes out with bases loaded as Venters works out of jam
Never in doubt.
good job JV
Great AB by Hanley.
Way to go, Venters!!
The A Bomb
Jonny does better on short rest, huh!
Nice finish kid…
July 30th, 20119:26 pm
Is it me or this deadline have more big time players traded than years past. Unreal the amount of names being dealt.
says he prefers it that way Wayne

July 30th, 20119:27 pm
any word on potential trades?
Shouldn’t a package for Bourn be similar to the package the Cubs gave up for Juan Pierre in the 2005 offseason?
Rick Nolasco, Sergio Mitre, and Renyel Pinto.
Basically, a lefty pitching prospect, a right handed reliever and a left handed reliever.
Obviously, Minor = Nolasco, but who in the Braves system is Mitre and Pinto?
That was also an offseason trade, meaning the Cubs would only get 162 games out of Pierre. The Braves however would be getting 200+ games of Bourn if the trade happened. Because of that, would more have to be included in the trade package beyond what the Cubs gave the Marlins?
But basically, Pierre in 2005 is Bourn in 2011. Minor is Nolasco. Figure out who Mitre and Pinto are within the Braves org
So all of you are getting so excited over a CF who is 11 for 42 which is a .261 avg with 5 extra base hits at Turner Field since the beginning of 2008 and is .083 avg. vs. the Phillies this year. Sorry, not me.
Rangers quit on Bell pursuit and got Uehara
Gil In Mechanicsville
That half inning was a tad more exciting than it should have been.
It’s all O.K. I’m still going to be calm in all this…….Just waiting like every one else…….
It’s getting late Wren.Time to nut up or shut up.
If Kerry Wood really did that he is a moron. I don’t care if we get him either way. It would be nice to have him. But what major leaguer doesn’t want a shot at a title?
July 30th, 20119:28 pm
Andrew in PA, and if it’s just Willingham then I’ll pee on Wren’s pants.
I hope everyone realizes that Bourn has been worst vs LHP than McLouth over the last 3+ years.
49,743 is Turner Field capacity.
Jason Stark: Rich Harden of A’s headed for Boston.
7 strong innings by Huddy tonight … thats what I’m talkin about… we need more of that down the stretch with our starters. JJ went 7 his last outing and we saw Beachy go 7 last night. Tommy has gone 6 his last two with wins so a positive there – not to mention he has gone 7 innings seven times this year… and DLowe well looking at his stats for the year he has gone to the 7th inning only TWICE (April 10 and May 17th) a win and a loss respectively. Lets hope Derek gets rolling again like he did last year down the stretch. He was lights out the last month of the season and in the NLDS vs. SF.
Chris from the Rock
July 30th, 20119:29 pm
That water buffalo can hit too.
Damn it! They ruined ANOTHER save chance for KIMMIE!!!
ut basically, Pierre in 2005 is Bourn in 2011.
.Huge difference in defense and arm.
Save opportunity is gone now.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
