Braves fans will remember that Adam LaRoche was usually horrible in the first half and always turned it on as July faded into August. Uggla is the same.

Love it how many were talking about how Wren got in too big of a hurry to sign Uggla to a LT contract.

And I will guarantee he will struggle again. Don’t think he is going to hit .350 for the rest of his career.

Been thinking about getting another shirt at the 8/12 game. I’ve been debating about who’s shirt to get. I think Dan just made the decision for me. I’m sure I’ll have a F5F shirt before the season’s end, too.

I bought my Freeman shirt on 6-13……I have been a fan since he put that Doc Halliday fastball in the bullpen in philly last sept.

You know I was really frustrated with Uggla earlier on. Back when he was hitting .200 or so someone told me he’d have to hit .340 the rest of the way to raise his average to .250. Well…he’s hitting .340 during this streak.

Keep him hitting between Freeman and a healthy McCann….he could keep it going.

Speaking of McCann…I hate that he is out with the obligue…but these 2 weeks off might mean something good for his legs if we make it to October.

I just saw Uggla’s homer. Doubt Marlins can come back. Howard hit one that made Uggla’s look like a infield fly rule though I’d obviously take a 3 runner than a solo. Lee is back to June form. I can see a shutout. Are you guys gonna stand pat? No additions? Rollins just hit a solo. I’m telling you the gap betwwen the Phils and Braves is immeasureable but hang in there you may be invited to get shut out by the Giants. You are so accustomed to going to the dance but you got too drunk and fell down while dancing. Vic a single, Howard is gonna be a wrecking ball this month (Aug) vic Just stloe 2nd. Getting to the point where we do a magic number. By the way you dirtballs, go to the game and give Wren some $ to get somebody. Otherwise this isn’t even gonna be a race.

“you don’t think he can hang on for a new MLB record of 57 games?”

Dan Uggla certainly seems to have returned to form. Good for him. Great for the team

That said, he has about as much chance of breaking DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak as Bobby Cox has of making a smart in-game decision

I think the Phillies all but have the division wrapped up… Really good team those Phillies. However, I honestly feel that the Braves are upgrade in CF and a RH RP from heing able to beat anyone in the playoffs, including said Phillies. The series is ties right now and the Braves pitchers that have lost, won’t be the ones pitching in the playoffs, so, I feel pretty good about our over-all chances.

Hope Frank Wretched…err Wren don’t get it twisted. Just because Uggla has gotten hot does NOT lessen the need to get Bourn or Quintin. IMO, Quite the contrary….the hotter Uggla, Freeman and the rest of the Braves get these next few weeks only increases our teams confidence level and improves our chances against our eventual hurdle – The Phillies.

We can never have too much hitting Frank Wretched. Make the deal.

* Gonzalez said that centerfielder Nate McLouth had a “mild” issue with a lower abdominal strain that landed him on the 15-day disabled list Friday for much of the season. The manager said McLouth has been playing with the issue since “the second or third day of the season” but it wasn’t something the outfielder had to battle through.

“He was playing through it,” Gonzalez said.

As much as I would like to jump your troll ass, the fact is that this has really never been a race. The Braves don’t have the necessary pieces to make a race out of it. I agree. That’s why I think if he hits 50, he will win by a lot. Naftali Perez won last year when he set the rookie mark (which Kimmie should break easily). 50 saves by anyone is an accomplishment. For a rookie to do it- to even have a shot at it- is pretty special.
