First, I’m not sure they are too focused on what the front office is or is not doing. But I think it’s pretty clear Wren in not standing pat. He is trying to find the best fit that won’t cost the team it’s entire future. Pence didn’t work, Beltran was too costly. Now he’s looking at other options. Not exactly standing pat…

i think it’s fantastic that the Braves covet their minor league players so much. the braves are an organization that grooms young players to play for THEM. the phillies just spend money. there’s something not very exciting about teams who just throw money around to win. i like winning when you are outspent….which is what the braves are doing right now. 6-6 against the phillies and HALF the payroll. another reason why the pirates are so admirable as well.

i just feel horrible for Minor after some of the braves fans have been so hateful and ruthless about him. the kid deserves better than what he has gotten this week from many on this website.

lol they would laugh at that

That is probably the deal they offered to the Astros

No offense but its gonna cost 3 of our top 4 specs to get a guy like Kemp

I disagree the Dodgers can’t even make payroll and are trading Furcal most likely. I seriously think they would take a long hard look at 5 cheap prospects.

Minor, Hoover, Schafer, Betancourt, and a lessor outfield prospect is a lot for anyone.

Matt Kemp has not been the most consistent you know. He has been ridiculed on and off for not being the savior and I doubt he will ever be able to carry a team by himself. They better trade him now why the stock is high.

Minor, Hoover, Schafer, Betancourt, a lessor prospect and cash for Matt Kemp is going to be the deal. Come on people get on board when we combine our good vibes together we can make it happen.

Let’s not go overboard here. Bourne AND a RP? Maybe, but damn, Bourn won’t be cheap at all, so I could wait for us to get a RP. Varvaro actually looks decent and Martinez is valuable, so I think the Braves will live on maybe holding off getting a RP for now.

I got my fingers crossed on us getting Bourn. Be a HUGE help to our lineup.

Get Bourn! Give them McClouth and one of our big 4 prospects. It is worth it! (I’m sure we’ll have to pay some of McClouth’s salary). There is nothing to ignite a team like a good lead off hitter. It makes all the difference in the world–i.e. Brett Butler, Mookie Wilson, Ralph Garr, and many others.

Kimbrel Rocks..it is very easy to say the Phillies just spend money, but Rollins, Utley, Howard, Brown, Worley, Kendrick, Ruiz, Mayberry, Bastrado, Stutes, Madson and Hamels ALL came up through the Phillies system. The Phillies groomed these young players. The difference is that as they got experience and improved, the Phillies chose to pay to keep them.

I would like Bourn and then possibly Willingham/Balfour.

Bourn everyday CF and Willingham a floater as in give Heyward day off against tough lefties and then slide in LF when Prado is at 3B.

DFA Proctor for Balfour, send Schafer to AAA for Bourn and do something with Nate for Willingham, maybe involve Nate in the deal.

Popeye has done a remarkable just raising his BA 33 points in just 20 games. I could see him ending up .230/.305/.450/.755 with 30HRs, 80RBI. Would have been an awful proposition at the beginning of the year, but considering how he got started, that would mean he delivers the rest of the year the way he has been inthe last 20 days.

For the last time you guys are blowing everyone you think is available out of proportion.

Jason Heyward as a rookie had a .393 OBP, that is better than any CF you can get other than Matt Kemp. Not Bourn, not Upton, not even Adam Jones, and definitely not those bum names like Crisp.

It is Matt Kemp or nothing. Meaning if you get anyone other than Kemp you are not really improving. Jason will come around and get back into form then you will have spent a lot of prospects for nothing. Just like the Hawks gave up 2 1st round picks and took on more salary for Kirk Hinrich and it turned out that Jeff Teague is really the guy.

the top 2 guys in the Pence deal are good, but only in A ball. the 3rd guy is a failed starter and the 4th is ? so Ed Wade would rather give his former Phils club a discount and chase away the Braves with a unreasonable demand.
why would he give us a fair price for Bourn now ? why waste time even talking to him ?
meanwhile, if the Braves weren’t so cheap, when guys like Bourn become free agents, they could offer arbitration and salvage draft pick compensation. but they end up either walking away (Drew, Sheffield) or being forced to make a stupid giveaway trade (remember Kotchman, Chavez ?)
so basically, all guys we trade for end up being rentals. but Frank says the budget is not a problem. oh, really ?

Bourn would be fine with me. If you’re not going to get a big power bat, you might as well get a guy who can set the table. As long as Prado comes around (and I’m pretty sure he will), then you’ll have a potent one-two combo at the top. Make no mistake about it, though. Freeman and Uggla are going to have to continue to carry the water for this club for a while.

I don’t care about adding a reliever. This team is already luxuriating in the quality of five relievers (Kimbrel, Venters, O’Flaherty, Linebrink, and Sherrill).
