I think I may be on the Bourne bandwagon also. I liked Quentin, was never too high on Pence and Upton, and please just say NO to Ludwick and Willingham. From all that I have read I think I like Bourne the best for this team.

Sounds like the Stros are like the Padres with the potential Peavy deal a few years back. Ended up not getting anything by attempting to milk the Braves for all they were worth.

Either go for a huge player or don’t give up too much. Just need someone to get hot. Don’t care if its Ludwick, Willingham, etc.

Rowsdower. I agree with you 100%. We’d have a power hitting outfielder with speeed who is would join McCann as the only other .300 hitter in our lineup.

Bobby…… Where would Will play? Sure he’d be okay at a corner spot in a platoon sit. But right now and for the next 10 days or so, we have no starting caliber CF’er. Also, cost is the biggest thing with me. While we won’t have to give up a top prospect for Will, they will want someone in out top 15. And to me Clemens, Simmons, Hoover, ect. have more value than a rental that’s not a game changer. Will is a decent player, but he’s not the get over the hump type player. If we can’t get a guy we need ( CF’er), just sit tight on those specs. They will have more value in the off-season, it’s a seller’s market right now. FW doesn’t need to panic.

Chipper Jones acknowledged the team could use another bat but he cautioned against players being distracted by the trade talk.

“I’m confident that we’ll do something,” he said. “What it is? I don’t know. To what magnitude? I don’t know. I’m pretty confident we’ll better our ballclub in the next couple of days. But the guys in here need to worry about the Florida Marlins [the next opponent]. And we’re confident we can win games with what we’ve got. So everybody’s kind of been instructed to stay tunneled in on what our goal is every day and not worry about Frank Wren’s job.”

When asked if he believed the team needs to make a trade, Jones responded, “I’m not going to alienate my current teammates. All teams can probably benefit from an injection of new blood when it’s a quality player. But we don’t have 60-plus wins for nothing. We’re a pretty good ballclub. We do it our way. As long as we pitch, we’re going to win. If we don’t pitch, we’re going to struggle.”

McLouth’s lower ab strain occured on his throw to the cutoff man last night, we’re told. Someone in clubhouse said they thought he’d been playing with a sports hernia for a while. Anyway, back on the 15-day DL for McLouth, and now Constanza is leading off in his major league debut at age 27.

Coming to Braves would be what the Dr. ordered for him to show his talent.would be a 30-30 player.Forget the past the kid can play and he is cheaper and you have him for 2 years.

Minor,Beachy, Schafer, and a 2nd tier prospect for Matt Kemp or you are just coming up with a band-aid. Dodgers have financial trouble and nobody is calling about Kemp, what dummie GM’s. I bet that is the last minute salary dump the Yankees are sitting around waiting on and I don’t blame them. I would call them Saturday night and offer Minor, Beachy, Schafer, and a 2nd tier prospect for Kemp so no one else can get in on it, take it or leave it.

Saban – great call.

Bourn is what we need. If the Braves decide to give Schafer another chance, they could trade Bourn in the offseason.

get Reed Johnson to help out Heyward in a platoon and could also platoon with Hinske when Prado is at 3B.

I would give Minor for Bourn and if it took more consider Clemens and then a third tier prospect.

Bourn will get on base and his speed will lead to fastballs and possibly a distracted pitcher when Prado, Chipper, McCann, etc come to bat

Nick Saban, you are not alone in your assessment of Schafer. I don’t understand the love affair many seem to have with him. You look at his stats and see he had 1 1/2 good seasons in the minors and that could be contributed to his use of PEDs.

He may be a nice guy and give good interviews but he is not a major leaguer yet, at least with the bat. He strikes out too much, walks too little and has a low OBP for a leadoff hitter. That is not my idea of a quality leadoff batter. His stats are a matter of record.

The Constanza move requires a 40 man roster move. WHo’s being moved off the 40 man roster?

Someone mentioned that 97 of Constanza’s 104 hits are singles. He has good speed, and can turn those singles into doubles with a SB. Then maybe the next hitter can get a single, on which he’d be able to score from 2nd.
