I guess now Wren’s next move will be to talk the Padres down on a deal for Ludwick. Probably be a last second thing on Sunday again. He and their GM will bicker over a AA nobody prospect Wren is trying to sell him over the very average AAA nobody prospect their GM will want for a .235 hitter who can’t hit LHP and who’s best days are clearly in the past.

Rasmus has some power, some speed, is 24. His defense is meh, but we could stick him in a corner. He went for pretty much nothing. Heyward is 21. See where I’m going with this?

This game proves that the tools are going to be negative no matter what. Shut out a team that’s been averaging 5 runs a game and we score 5 and still focused on the the BS. I’m not sure enough credit was given to the Pirates pitching staff. I knew the Braves were going to score some runs today….said so in the last blog last night.

Phils have a lot of homegrown players on their roster, just like the Braves. What they do better is supplement them with the cream of the crop from available players on other teams. We need to do more of that too.

I dont see how adding a guy to platoon will make the Braves overtake the Phills, or be able to beat the Phills and Giants in the playoffs.

For some reason, whenever the Braves are “linked” to certain players, Griffey, Furcal,Burnett, Peavy, Beltran, Pence etc. it seems they always lose out. But it always seems to work out for the better that they didnt sign/trade for them. I’m use Wren has a deal in the works that will trump the Giants and Phills.

you do know that his OBP is now 250 right. so that is no indication that he will regularly get on base.
and shirley any reasonably speedy guy would have scored during that inning
and I already said early that I was glad to see him get a chance
and I already congratulated him this inning.

Wish we would’ve called up Constanza a long time ago and not Schafer. Then we would’ve had time to evaluate him and see if his success would translate at the ML level. Now we don’t know who our CF is (unless the plan really is to keep Schafer. That would be very stupid.) and were a day and a half away from the deadline.

The idea the Phillies are unstoppable now for acquiring Pence is laughable to me. They may be better, or were unstoppable prior to the trade, but Pence is not a lock for the WS. Nor would it be for the Braves. FW made the correct decision. But please no Ludwick or Willingham………

Wow. Astros traded Pence for 4 minor league flunkies. And the Phillies (yep Phillies) also received $1 million cash according to MLB Network. Nobody even in the same area code as the Braves pitchers that the Astros were supposedly asking for. Apparently Wren needs to learn from the Phillies management team!!!! The ’stros basicly PAID the Phillies to take Pence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have there been any discussions about Denard Span? It sounds like he is about to come off the DL. He has been close to a 300 hitter with few strikeouts and 20 something steals and a good OBP. I know he is coming off a concussion but maybe we could get him for cheap.
