Hey, Wren brought up Constanza and bought a AAA catcher for a dollar. What more could you ask for, Braves fans? Make sure you get your tickets and fill the Ted every night to watch Constanza play. I hear he’s really good.

Phillies are just being outright greedy. They don’t need Pence.

How can they afford to keep trading their prospects like this, prospects for Pence, Prospects for Lee, and prospects for Halladay.

I guess they did get prospects in return when they traded Lee.

Keep the faith Braves fans,The Giants got Bad knees Beltran The phils gave up the farm for a good(not great player ) who may produce or may buckle playing in a meaningful playoff race.

Wren and Co. will get something done….just won’t give up the farm doing it.I honestly think they were just driving the price up for pence because he really doesn’t fit our needs.

Pence would have made the Braves a little better and will make the Phils better. However, he wasn’t the best fit for the Braves and would have caused problems in 2012 and onward.

It’s funny how the Phils are little by little draining the Astros of their top “name” pitchers at the deadline (Oswalt last year).

I still say Bourn is a better fit for the Braves. Hopefully now there are not too many suitors for him and the price will drop.

Astros may be very good in a couple of years with all the deadline deals they’re making.

Once again, the Phillies go out and get the big bat and we are going to add a mediocre player past his prime. The fact of the matter is that Wren doesn’t have the balls to pull the trigger on big time deals. Sure he got Uggla but we gave up very little in that deal. We have been scared to give up any prospects since the Tex deal and until we get past that mindset then we’re just going to be second tier to the Phillies.

The Phillies just made “that” move that pushes them over the top and World Series contenders/favorites. Scary thing is, Braves could have made the same type of deal but we prefer to sit back and hang on to all of our prospects.

Watching this Braves team is so depressing. The Phillies are scoring 8 runs tonight but they HAD to have Pence and push their payroll to $180M yet we can’t even get on base and our idiot GM wouldn’t trade a 5th starter. Our “ownership” won’t let us spend a penny over $85M. I hate baseball. If we get Ludwick, I will cease being a Braves fan.

Phillies have equally talented starting pitching as the Braves, probably have the edge because their starters go deeper into the games.

Braves have better bullpen, but not by much, and the Phillies are getting their bullpen healthy.

No contest between the Philly’s hitters and the Braves.

I have a question:
If we cant get Pence or Quentin or someone of value then why settle on something that we dont need. Why give prospects for someone that is no better than what we have. so basically im saying why give away our talent if we cant get what we really want? I dont think we should give away talent just to satisfy the masses. unless it is of course for a real upgrade.

….but we can upgrade. that’s the frustrating thing.

Yes..obviously he is smart enough to know that adding pence to a lineup that is riddled with injury isnt going to help much and is NOT worth giving up the future of this team for. bravesfaninnc – yeah your right Braves do not want to go to WS!

That doesn’t make any sense, what do you think they do all of this for, to win the wild card. We do not have the financial muscle of the phillies – we must rely on home grown talent with FA sprinkled in to be competitive. Our payroll is $85-90 mil, phillies is like $170 mil – they can buy talent every year if they want. We cannot

What I don’t get is, the Braves have a very solid team, maybe the Phillies have a small edge, but with Pence it turns into a big edge, they won’t have any weaknesses assuming he does what he is supposed to do. The Braves have injuries all over the place, and even if everybody was healthy, SS, CF, and RF have some serious deficiencies compared to Philly.

They need a bigger player than Pence to have a shot

Well, I’m happy, but also kinda frustrated because I was hoping they would give up Domonic Brown. I still think the Phillies overpaid. Two top 50 prospects for Pence is a lot. But now, boy, that team is pretty solidified for the next couple seasons. Pence/Brown/Victorino outfield. Howard/Utley/Rollins(I think they bring him back) and Polanco. Plus Ruiz at catcher. Pence gives them that right handed hitter that they lost when Werth left. Oh well. We’ll see.
