B.J. Upton should be who the braves trade for but if we can’t get him then Carlos Quentin should be the next option,

Please explain how BJ Upton can help this team. Seriously. He is terrible.

I have a question:
If we cant get Pence or Quentin or someone of value then why settle on something that we dont need. Why give prospects for someone that is no better than what we have. so basically im saying why give away our talent if we cant get what we really want? I dont think we should give away talent just to satisfy the masses. unless it is of course for a real upgrade.

I think that sums up the frustration of many on here. Someone said earlier that the purpose of the minors was to get good young players that can fill spots with the big club or be used as pieces to get the players they want. The Braves do a good part at getting the players. It is the using them to get the pieces they want that they are not very good at.

That’s quite a price the Phils payed for a good (not great) player who’s likely to not play to the caliber that his salary suggests he should. I would imagine we would’ve had to have given up Minor+Delgado (and then the two others) for this deal…wow. No way.

I think I may turn back to the Alamo in Philly. The Braves are a perfect sedative for insomnia. Watching Gonzalez was a humorous bit. Cumulatively he has to be the worst shortstop in baseball. Can’t hit run or field. Aside from that you guys have a real nugget at short. As I see the Braves marching up to the plate I’m trying to imagine myself as the pitcher and ask who could beat me over there? The answer is get the Braves back on D and hit a routine grounder to as the two bozos in the booth call him Gonzo, which if they’re smart that’s where he’d be, gone.

The Phillies don’t care about prospects because they have a huge budget to work with. Having a massive payroll doesn’t guarantee a WS, but it does allow you to do whatever you have to do to win right now.
