Frank Wren is really not playing this right. All Astros want is a package deal where Mike Minor is the centerpiece and he wont do it??!!!

This will be extremely disappointing if we don’t get him at this point. From the way it sounded, Wren was at least considering a deal with the Mets that would’ve sent Minor to NY for Beltran. Now that we have an opportunity to get a younger outfielder capable of playing all 3 OF positions who wouldn’t be a 2 month rental, he’s not pulling the trigger? WTF is he thinking???

Hopefully this is just all apart of Wrens negotiation plan trying to get the best deal, but the way it sounds, Philly is going to close in before Wren has enough time to pack up his desk.

All in all, Id still rather get Bourn. CF is our biggest hole. I don’t want to see Heyward lose any playing time at the expense of Pence or Quentin and knowing how stupid Fredi is, that would be the case.

Hope Chipper gets healthy, love him, been a part of my life almost as long as I’ve been alive. He’s a big part why we are where we are today. He’s drove in 46 runs on the year which is great, and he’s an important part of the line up. However, he’s become a liability and just can’t stay healthy which isn’t his fault. Hope he can push through the pain and bring us a title and ride of into the sunset, because he has just become so injury prone.

The thing is, is he can still play. He still wallops the ball. Sure he’s not putting up the numbers he was ten years ago, but he’s still an excellent player, it’s just his body is breaking down.

FW not wanting to trade Minor has everything to do with Lowe not pitching well. Heyward should never sit, I don’t care who is pitching. The kid is about to come out of it….yeah, I know that has been said many times before but his talent is undeniable.

I looked up all the “known” trade rumors about the Braves. The most reasonable and efficient (to me) is either Quentin or Coco Crisp. Quentin can hit for power and drive in runs. But he has a low BA. Crisp has speed (27 sb) and a high BA. Be nice to have a decent leadoff guy. The rest are just the same ol, same ol

I doubt that we’re going very hard after Pence because he’ll cost 10 mil. next year and 13 mil. the next. I doubt he’s worth that kind of money for our organization. Bourn will be much more inexpensive in the long run if we acquire him, ditto for CQ. I agree SemperFi I think we should pick up both of those guys and call it a day.

I gave Chipper a pass after first few months of the season when he appeared to be a major contributor again after 2 yrs. of BS..
well, we ALL are finally tired of Jones. He should retire today so that at least a few thousand fans show up for his “Farewell Chipper” party.
He has burned a lot of bridges last several weeks with his fans.

Bourn would do the most to change the Braves. He will play great defense, but also steal many bases, and force opposing pitchers to throw more fastballs to Braves hitters when Bourn is on base. None of the other outfielders being mentioned will change the Braves offense quite as much.

Amazing how all of you experts can be so negative. The Braves have one of the best records in baseball and still lead the wild card race. They have done all of this and only had their original lineup playing 11 times all year. Chipper, McCann, and Moylan will be back soon…..so don’t give up quite yet!!!!!! We may not even need to make a trade.

With every passing addition to the DL and every passing transfer from the G-Braves, the rest of MLB slowly realizes that they have the A-Braves by the balls when it comes to trades.

Still pulling for my Braves though, whether they be A or G.

seems to me thqt people were not too long ago calling for ugla’s head. chippers got the second highest batting average on the team. id be more worried about McCann, like I said before you cant go an extended period of time with ross catching full time. Im not saying that we dont need a bat, we do. We could make a deal to get rid of lowe. tigers have shown interest. deal him to dump some cash and then go out and make a deal for a bat. take a couple low level draft picks cuz i dont think that they will offer anything more than that let Chipper go out with a ring. He deserves it. I think without the injuries at the end of last season something good could have happened. this season we have a second chance. If the season were to end tomorrow the playoffs would pretty much set up the same way. We have the now three nasty boys in the pen doing thier thing. you only need three pitchers in the first round of the playoffs and in the second round. we could win this thing

I have to agree with the “absurb” comment about trading Chipper. It’s a great idea! He can go to the American League and DH. As I read in this blog, Chipper and KKK are owed $21M. Clearing that would a perfect way to get the OF Bats we need. Prado takes over at 3rd and the new outfielders take LF and CF. Then we’re left with an underperforming Heyward who could sit while Hinshe or someone else plays RF.

Get something for Chipper?? Just get rid of the salary that’s sitting on the bench, on the DL or in the minors.

Most of ya’ll are like the old man that sits on his porch and hollers at kids “get off my lawn”, “slow down”and my all-time fav, “get outta my bushes”. You’re just bitching to be bitching.

We all know the Braves are one of the best teams in the MLB. Even without a trade, they will get their guys back (off the DL) and still be one of the best. In the past 20 years, how many times have the Braves went to the playoffs?
