who wouldnt trade minor for a world title? or Delgado for a world title? yeah its just one but one more than we’ve had in the last 15yrs.

except of course you are not trading for a title but just better odds at it, which is a long way from any guarantee

He plays CF and is under control for another year. And if you don’t pick up Nate’s option (no brainer) he would probabaly fit right in financially.

Why all the bitching about what Pence would make from arb….Are you saying from now on anyone making over 10 million Braves are not going to sign..The price of players go up every year…if you going to play you must pay the piper. Cheap is cheap..when Chip & Lowe is gone that will free up 30 million plus Nates 7 million.
How much out of that money comes out of your pocket..unless you go to the games.
Beltran will only cost one player that may not ever do a damn thing..this is not a Wainwright deal..we are not give 4 or 5 players for one rental..Beltran can play and help. Do I like the short term? No but it gives us a chance to WIN!
If you never take a chance you will never have a damn thing. Do I wish for Pence, Bourn,Upton, Reed Johnson, M Byrd, L Cain,Jones and Adams..Yes but you take the best deal..Wrens got a tough job…give the man some credit. Fredi I don’t like to much right now. He says to many stupid things. Go Braves.

No. The point is, at least from my understanding, is that many people (and I happen to be one of them) are not sure Pence is worth $10 million or more a year. Yes, he is having a great year, but he’s also been inconsistent. There are players that are worth that type of money. Just not sure Pence is in that category.

Hm, I think Beltran would be a nice fit out there. He would increase their chances to succeed in the playoffs. I’d see nothing wrong with trading Minor for Beltran. The Braves have a plethora of pitchers in the farm system, already.

However, is it risky if Beltran doesn’t succeed with the Braves if the Braves get him, but it is baseball and a baseball is pretty much a game of trading cards to build your deck better to succeed in the long haul.

This team is 17 games above .500, with a healthy lead in the wild card race. Given the injury woes this team has had to go through, as well as some players underperforming offensively, I think it’s though to get annoyed with Fredi.

Only major gripe is walking Wigginton to get to CarGo a couple nights ago. Still scratching my head about that…but I’m not, nor will ever coach baseball at any level, so who am I to judge his decisions.

Minor for Beltran for 2+ months without the possibility of draft compensation would be rolling the dice. I would think that the Braves need another piece. If Wren were going to make a deal centered around Beltran then he should throw-in a lower tier fringe prospect at A+/A- while adding Bobby Parnell to the deal from the Mets. Ship out Proctor. Parnell is nothing special but he could have value in future years.

Good pitching is important in the postseason, but we all know if you can’t score, which happened all too often in the 90s and earlier this decade, the Braves will not advance.

Tough call for Wren. Time to see whether he has what it takes to make a move for a hitter that is better than a marginal starter like Ankiel or Jonny Gomes.

This isn’t fantasy baseball you clown. No talented young pitcher is expendable…any one of these pitchers could go down at any moment, and I know I’d feel alot better about plugging Minor in right away rather than expecting Teheran, Delgado, or Vizcaino to come in right away and be consistently effective.

And while Beltran may not be injury prone, he’s a 34 yr old OF with a bum knee who doesn’t run that well anymore, and has missed significant time in the recent past. No disrespect to Chipper, but the Braves don’t need another player like that, ESPECIALLY in CF. Schafer doesn’t do much at the plate, but like Gonzo, his defense has saved quite a few runs. For 2008-2010, Beltran had a monster 1.013 OPS against lefties, with a .615 slugging and .398 OBP.
It should be said that 2011 numbers are not as good, .838/.547/.291.
Still, .838 is nothing to sneeze at.

In Atlanta’s lineup would he see more good pitches to hit?
