Top-rated pitching prospect Julio Teheran led a group of four Triple-A Gwinnett Braves named to the International League All-Star team on Thursday.
Center fielder Jose Constanza, first baseman Mauro Gomez and designated hitter Stefan Gartrell were also selected to the IL All-Star team, which will face the Pacific Coast League All-Stars in Salt Lake City on July 13.
Gwinnett trainer Mike Graus was also named to the IL All-Star staff.
Teheran turned 20 in January and is the youngest player on the IL All-Star team. He was 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA in 13 starts for Gwinnett, and already made two spot starts for the major-league Braves (0-1, 5.19 ERA).
It should be a memorable week for Teheran, who previously was selected along with Braves Double-A right-hander Arodys Vizcaino to play in the July 10 Futures Game during All-Star Weekend at Phoenix.

I’d love to see Jose Constanza in CF. That would be too funny.

I remember a reject the Braves didnt want, name Jeff Francoeur, who is hitting .261, HR11, RBI 47, SB 13. All better than the great Chipper Jones, Heyward, Schafer, Mclouth and Prado who is hurt. Just because a player fails with one team doesnt mean he cant jumpstart is career somewhere else. Julio Franco is another case of someone who was old and a reject who helped the Braves off the bench.

freshd,
Check JF’s stats, 1st 60 games w/KC and games since then. He’s done the same at every stop. You can’t get him out for a couple of months, then he can’t get arrested.

From that post about Frenchy:
“Jeff Francoeur is the new hot chick in your class that after a month you find out is totally crazy (or to be less sexist, he’s the cute guy that seems funny and sensitive until you find out he lives with his parents, is unemployed, and spends all day playing Call of Duty). The Royals are just finding that out now.”

Sounds like a big bat or two to me.
Well said, Dennis Reynolds.

I don’t think Minor has much of a future here with all those young guns coming up. He’s not needed here, but other teams would be more than willing to give us a big bat for him + another player. It’s a bummer the Yankees are “scared of Braves pitching” since they’re about the only team I can think of who would trade for Lowe.

JJ or Hanson will have to be moved (unless we get new ownership). Now might be the time IF we can get a major impact player (Kemp) will do…

How far is Jose Constanza from being ready for the major league team? Can he hit and steal bases?
I think Teheran should get the callup now! Find someplace to unload Lowe.

Constanza weak arm in CF with no power. Similar to McLouse but with more speed. Also, Constanza is another lefty bat or he would probably have already been up. We need a righthanded bat in the OF, thus Ramirez is up.

His name should be Jorge Constanza just for laughs. Of course, we would have to trade him to the Yankees…

Relax, we will know within the next 30 days if Wren pulls the trigger and then we will have to wait and see who benefits from another of his great trades( uh’ ), wonder who ???????????????????

Hold on! If Wren hurries maybe he can trade Teheran, Vizcaino, Delgado, Hoover, and another prospect or two and rent Pujols for the remainder of the season. After all, that would mirror the Teixeira trade. That one worked out well- for Texas. But then Bradley says the trade wasn’t that bad. WWII wasn’t bad for Japaneither, was it?

Stand pat, Braves. Don’t trade any prospects. When the hitters gel, we’ll push Philly.
