husker- i’m giving mcclouth a variable due to the fact he was on the DL….was doing ok before going on his DL stint
Nate was 1-21 in the 7 games before he hit the DL and his average was down to .238.

Well, as you said, he doesn’t have enough ABs in the majors, so, even if you knew how to calculate xBABIP, it would probably be fruitless. But leave average BABIP is around 300, and Schafer has 2 of the 3 attributes you listed for increasing BABIP – speed and a solid LD%, which is why I expect him to move toward league average.

I love how the braves score 5 runs, and all of us fans are as happy as we can ever be. Shows how much our offense has struggled this year, and actually how great our pitching is. I’m not complaining but things are looking better, back to back 5 run games against Pineda and King Felix, now only if they could solve the pitchers with a 5+ era

Like to get Heyward a little higher but thats what happens when you have a deep lineup. Plus, you cant leave Freddie too far down with the way he can hit. He didn’t come up with the hype Heyward did, but he’s just as good if not a better pure hitter. We need to give Heyward a break and take some pressure off of him to be a superstar.

Well thats tough because none of us really know the financial details (at least I don’t) but I do know the prospects and if I were him, and it was this easy, I think a Schafer, Minor, Oberholtzer package could do it. I don’t know if they’d want Schafer though. They have their own version of him in Bourgeois.

I think that is giving up too much. This Bourns last year on his contract and to give up a guy like Minor for Bourn I think is too much. Bourn is a solid upgrade but not worth a guy like Minor IMO

If Venters does go in the game tonight, even with a 4 run lead, i think Frank Wren seriously needs to look for another manager, one that can manage his bullpen instead of throwing Johnny every day. But i would have to think that maybe Johnny would tell Fredi that he can’t go, and he was a starter before so maybe its a no biggie for him. Just another bullpen sesh with hitters it seems like lol.

Venters already had TJ surgery in 2006. He’s also pitched as many as 156 IP in a single season in the minors. I would imagine he has input on whether or not he’s available for any given game. Is it just possible that it’s not an issue with him and he’s fine?

Ok. O’flaherty in the 7th with a 4 run lead. Now did I just see Venters in the pen a few minutes ago?? What the hell is Freddie doing?? I loved Cox, but I never thought I’d see someone overuse a BPen more than Bobby. Well, meet Freddie G. Holy crap, these guys’ arms are going to be dead come the fall, if and when we get into the playoffs. They will get lit up. Not to mention you are probably going to blow out Venters’ arm. Awesome.
With all the one run and close games we play, why put oventbrel out there with a 4 run lead?
