hey guys I wanted to ask you a favor

Hello every one! We got a sweep………………Here’s my take! One thing we played Seattle, and yes they had good pitchers, but again we beat Seattle. We have a tough scheduale at the end of the season and we barely hung on to Seattle. Yes, we should make the play-offs,but to beat the Phillies is a question, and who ever has good pitching besides them? Sorry I can’t drink the Kool – Aide,I believe our offense will go cold again against good pitching. We can’t make it to the play offs with this line up to past the first round.Look I being realistic here.No trade, no past the first round.
Hello My Friends! Good , good win, but here is my take! I’m still not sold on our offense, because we beat Seatlle. We will not go past the first round in the play-offs this year, because Wren can’t seem to make a trade for some speed.Sorrry can’t drink the Kool- Aide, because I think the offense will go cold again against better pitching.I think we have a shot at the play-offs,but we have a tough scheduale at the end of the season against teams with good pitching where our bats take a dive.No trade, no post-season. I’m just not buying any thing yet!
We don’t have enough offense against good pitching. I’ve seen this before, and I just don’t want to get caught up in it, and be crushed again. I have High hopes, but I’m starting to get un easy right now.
I agree we aren’t assured the playoffs and moving on in the playoffs. BUT we do have a good enough offense if the Giants did last year. Offense are WAY down this year so we can compete with the way it is. Would it be nice to add a piece?? Heck yeah it would be great, but we don’t HAVE to.
I agree, BUT Lowe and McClouth are probably untradeable to get anything back. If Lowe could put a few good starts in a row together maybe you could get a decent bat. McClouth you aren’t getting anything for. Thoughts?
Husker Tony: If we throw a player to be named later it could work?Yeah, I might piss some Braves fans off,but we can’t have evaluations. The Phillies are getting ready to make another splash, and mean while Wern is evaluating it.
I agree with Ward, yes we have the good record, but ALL because of the pitching. The pressure could cause that to go south in a heart beat.I think we need two Outfield bats.Uggla is what he is and right now is how he plays.
I gotta hit the hay. You guys have a great night. Go Braves, anything that improves us I am for. I want to beat the frickin filthies this year. CHOP CHOP!
I’m taking off tomorrow or early Friday, to my summer place. Before I go, I make a “kitchen sink” omelette (everything but…), to finish off everything that I don’t feel like taking with me.
If I can’t get it all into one omelette, such as the case tonight, I make a side dish, also.
This morning, we’re featuring turkey breast, roast beef, southern baked beans (spicy), cheese, eggs (yeah, what’s an omelette without eggs), tuna, green beans, copius amounts of lemon and lemon and pepper seasoning, onions, more onions, garlic. peppers, and uh…… beer.
I think that’s it. When there’s too much of that last ingredient, I tend to forget.
Have a good one Tom O’ Hawke! I’ll Always root for them, and try not to be too whinny, but I’m just bothered, and hope it will go away.Don’t want to be negative. We know the Braves will make it. The Question is how to get further,so I’ll try,and be cool. Thats all I can do.We all get bothered some times. All be cool, and peace. “Go!!!!!! Braves!!!!!!”
Chipper is not out of gas and does not need to retire; he looked great just a couple of weeks back. He ABSOLUTELY does need to have surgery on that knee and take the three weeks off though; he looks like Fred Sanford at the plate and on the bases. But it isn’t his age.
I’ve really liked Fredi’s handling of the pitching staff/bullpen most of this year; dramatic improvement over Bobby. Yesterday’s use of an obviously gassed Venters with a 4 run lead and Linebrink already warm (and several other rested options) against a team that can’t hit was the first completely indefensible move I’ve seen so far (there are always moves you disagree with, but you can at least see the thought process…this was just strait WTF/Bobby stuff). But the difference is I think he realizes it and will be the better for it in the future. He seems to be capable of learning. No manager is flawless, and Fredi’s been pretty good so far in my opinion.
OK, I’m in on needing an upgrade in CF. I looked over at MLBTraderumors and they listed likely candidates and it sounds like Atlanta already has: Dexter Fowler, Rajai Davis, Michael Bourn. The thing is that I don’t see the Braves parting with their top prospects for anyone and certainly not for those players. I don’t think any of those would be an upgrade. I am also sick of watch Alex Gonzalez get praise when he stinks it up at the plate. At least Dan Uggla has 12 home runs. Gonzalez, yeesh! I don’t see a whole lot of moves coming. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them pick someone up from the scrap heep like Melvin Mora who was released by Arizona. They do that on an annual basis. I hope they get a player or two who can make on impact this season. With the way this team has pitched, they could be really good if they just hit….even a little bit. They had better put themselves in a position to have an answer when/if Chipper goes out for a while. I know Martin Prado can play third, when or if he comes back. That leaves holes in LF and CF. Get a couple bats there and you’re good.
Bourn: .288 AVG, 1 HR 26 RBI, 34 SB; Pence: .314 AVG, 9 HR 53 RBI; Davis: .234 AVG, 1 HR 17 RBI, 18 SB; Fowler: .238 AVG, 0 HR 18 RBI, 2 SB. Those are some of the outfielders who have been mentioned as being available and mentioned often on the blog. I don’t see Atlanta getting two outfielders from Houston. Pence would be my pick. They’re going to want decent prospects and Frank Wren will not let his premium prospects go. I wouldn’t. The question is: “If you trade your premium prospects for Hunter Pence, does he make you as good or better as you would have been and for how long?” I see Michael Bourn as nothing more than Jordan Schafer. I wouldn’t trade anything for him. If you get Pence and another better bat for CF, do it as long as you don’t rape your farm system again.
Dave, I live in Nc and cannot get the Braves on the radio after dark. Why do no stations stream the Braves on the internet? It makes no sense. I am going to have to get MLB in self defense. Go Braves its the only thing I miss about Atlanta….. oh yeah Zesto’s and the Ponce movie theater too.
Martin tiny bit more
Jason a lot more
Chipper less- nagging injuries
Brian don’t see how he can do more (been great)
Dan better more clutch hitting
Freddie more… continuing to grow
Nate same – nothing to look fwd to
Jordan same – to better
Alex same to better
Pitching – same
Pen same until Jonny’s arm falls off
without a trade Wild card
With a trade Bourne or r/h bat play off bound
bill, If you come on the blog at the beginning of games someone always posts a live stream of the game on radio. And if you have a smartphone you can get a radio app and save the stations that tend to forget to cut game feed. I’m able to get the braves using my phone no matter where I’m at. The one that I normally get the game on is WQNT Charleston.
Major League teams haven’t forgotten about David Eckstein, the ten-year veteran who was the MVP of the 2006 World Series. In fact, he says he drew more interest than ever last offseason, including one offer that came four weeks ago and some Major League offers. Though the second baseman has not retired, he told Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times that he won’t return unless the circumstances are right.
“It totally has to be the right situation, but when you say that, it’s like you’re disrespecting the clubs that have talked to you,” Eckstein said. “This goes so much deeper than you guys will ever know.”
The 36-year-old says he feels fine physically and made a personal decision to take time off and manage his wife’s acting career. Eckstein posted a .267/.321/.326 line in 492 plate appearances for the Padres last year.
DOB: It may be no shame to be 4.5 games behind Philly at this point. But what’s galling is all the missed opportunities. We keep losing to horrible teams and letting Philly make hay. We’ll probably drop two of three to Baltimore. That’s what we do.
Bill; I can’t do the link thing,but1450 wqnt-tuneln web tuner.Got this link about a month ago from Jimmy on the blog.Got every game since then. I believe its N.C. station.
Offensive explosion across the bigs yesterday. 3 teams shut out(1-0 in two of those games) 3 teams won by 2-1 score and 3 other teams muster up 2 runs in losses. Only the Mets and Tigers score runs. Flashback to the 1960’s.
space monkey – we remember the missed opportunities for our team but forget the missed opportunities by the other teams, it works both ways. Kinda like we remember the lined shots that are caught with the bases loaded more than the bloops that drop.
DOBRoof was open today, and it was gorgeous out. In fact, still is. Sunny, cool, low-60s, big clouds out over the Puget Sound, but not over us on land.
Ah, thanks, DOB! Sorry I missed you last night…that weather sounds SOOO awesome…
Its pretty sad when they post the Braves lineup before a game and everone from top to bottom minus McCann would be batting .240 or below. Man we need a Fred Mcgriff type spark to this team. (oh yeah Freeman is hitting better and what a day yesterday!)
Thursday morning blues music blasting…. Ian Moss Live… awesome stuff
nolee – will re-listen to that Clapton blues album…have it on a pc somewhere…
Chipper is almost our best clutch hitter (was 2nd in NL with RISP til a week or so ago) so I am not sure why there are people asking him to retire
JHEY – still cannot remember him hitting a towering shot to the warning track or beyond since April… in Apr he was leading mlb with 7 hr…. As of July he is still on 7 hr…. hope we have not burned his wrist/s and shoulder…. kid is too valuable long term
Another great win by the Braves. I’ll take 4-2 on that west coast road swing. Braves have been playing well lately. Not hitting a lot but when they do hit it usually means runs
Yes, I get sad thinking about the lineup, especially since we now have the THIRD best record in baseball…(of course, I wish it wasn’t the Phillies who helped push us ahead of Boston)…
McFann, I’m so glad brian will be the starting catchers and those ballot stuffers in st louis can’t do anything about it this year…Go Mac and go Braves
Joe Mauer making the radio rounds promoting Head and Shoulders – just went back-to-back with the Mikes and then DP – hope McFann is nowhere near a radio…

A better second half? Yes!
More or less production?
Martin tiny bit more
Jason a lot more
Chipper less- nagging injuries
Brian don’t see how he can do more (been great)
Dan better more clutch hitting
Freddie more… continuing to grow
Nate same – nothing to look fwd to
Jordan same – to better
Alex same to better
Pitching – same
Pen same until Jonny’s arm falls off
without a trade Wild card
With a trade Bourne or r/h bat play off bound

bill, If you come on the blog at the beginning of games someone always posts a live stream of the game on radio. And if you have a smartphone you can get a radio app and save the stations that tend to forget to cut game feed. I’m able to get the braves using my phone no matter where I’m at. The one that I normally get the game on is WQNT Charleston.

For scoots’ eyes only…
Major League teams haven’t forgotten about David Eckstein, the ten-year veteran who was the MVP of the 2006 World Series.
