You realize he’s one more extra base hit tonight from Jim Powell saying “He’s baaaaack.”
Oh wait, Jim Powell didn’t make the West Coast trip. Somebody else will have to say it because if ever there was a team that knew how to celebrate miniscule achievements, it’s your Atlanta Braves.
I’d be amazed if there wasn’t a travelling cork board in the Braves clubhouse that they brought with them everywhere with little gold stars and blue ribbons. Dan has a little yellow smiley face coming his way tonight.
“My dream scenario, being a Tarheel, would be to get ackley and put him in CF (costing us Martin Prado, Delgado, and ?? something else). Then getting Hunter Pence for LF (costing us Minor and another prospect).”
Are you f’n serious? I wouldn’t trade Prado, Delgado & something else for Kemp, much less Ackley.
here’s my day one hitting coach instruction for this team if I was hired tomorrow. “If your name is not McCann, I want you to lean into every pitch. If your name is Mclouth, Uggla, Heyward, or Gonzalez, even if it it a pitchout….lean into it”
When you look at variables between this year and last year, the two main differences are Parrish and Gonzalez. Correlation isn’t causation, I know. But if you figure that Gonzalez shouldn’t have an enormous influence on the hitters (I could be wrong), Parrish is the only remaining factor.
Hell, don’t fire him, but at least “firmly” encourage the batters to be more patient. Surely he can do that. The one thing that hasn’t changed (or maybe it has, again, I could be wrong – I am a lot) is the first pitch and/or all-or-nothing swings.
Phil—Why do you have the sound on? I’m guaranteeing that 98% of the 179 people who blog here are way smarter than Chip Caray. I’m sure you understand the game. 3 strikes, 4 balls, 3 outs, 9 innings, strike zone. So why do you need the National Poster Boy for Nepotism. Chip is so devoid of talent as to make it possible the Baseball Hall of Fame posthumously takes the plaque away from his grandfather.
Mute the sound on the TV, a little Sarah Brightman doing Evita or Phantom of the Opera and just turn on the idiots for that rare moment that warrants listening to an idiot.
Seems like we do face at least 2 top notch pitchers ever single series nowadays. My God! Even the Mets threw some nasties at us and for an offense built on the homerun and these pitchers being so tough …. no wonder.
