at this rate Pineda is on pace to throw a 105 pitch complete game. He hasn’t gone past 7 in his last 10 or so.
I agree on the hit & runs. Overall the team has power, but only a few with a decent OBP. I think the percentages are higher & rewards much greater if they wait for the 2-3 three run homer instead of running themselves out of innings all the time.

I know that Larry Parrish is not swinging the bats for the Braves, but maybe letting him go will shake up the team, and put some urgency in them.
They come out and do the same thing night in and night out, with the occasional mirage to keep the natives at bay.
The All-Star break wuld be an ideal time to make a change.

not many CF – do the Braves take a flier on Gutierrez in Seattle (hoping he regains his form)? Do they acquire Adam Jones from the Orioles this weekend? Can Markaikas play CF? Do they acquire the Reds AAA shortstop prospect who is ML ready? Do they send Uggla down to AAA to work on his swing and confidence when Prado returns (answer is no but still had to ask)?
With offense being down this year there just are not many offensive upgrades available.

agree Dubu – firing a coach often gets the players attention. The underperforming players tend to buckle down and often feel a responsibility for the coach being fired, if they like that coach. If the players do not like the coach then of course firing the coach may be of benefit as well. As always, if someone is traded, fired, released, who do you replace him with?

Of those options I like Adam Jones best, but I have little reason to believe that the Braves will make a significant move.

agreed Powder Blue – Braves are looking at Jones, Bourn, etc.
In the offseason the Braves could move a pitcher such as Jurrjens for a front line CF but teams will not make that move during the season and neither should the Braves (give up a frontline starter during the season)

Here’s my question: Is this team better that all of you think? Consider the following analysis of the lineup
Schafer-has never established himself as anything but mediocre
Heyward-Has not performed consistant enough to be the all-star everybody made him out to be
Chipper-He’s not the same. Call it age or whatever but he’s just not the same. He’s just average (it pains me to say this)
McCann-No issues here..No doubt he’s an All-Star.
Freeman-He’s just a rookie (can’t hold that high of a standard)
Uggla-He’s much better than he’s hitting but he’s horrible right now
Gonzo-average for a SS and he’s getting older
McLouth- only had one good year in the majors.
….just what exactly are we all expecting here?

Is Heyward incapable of consistently putting together good atbats and hitting balls hard? Chipper has just looked overmatched lately. The offense just continues to regress. Hell, we thought they were bad in April, but it is nearly the end of June and they look worse. How long can Parrish stay around? Seriously

SS and CF are areas we could make an offensive improvement. The other positions are spoken for.
Wren was right to see what Jordan would do in CF and the leadoff spot especially after his hot start. Schafer is declaring through his at bats though that he is not the answer (at least for this year) in CF

Rilo, all we need is to be a middle of the pack offensive team. Should be able to do that one would think. They don’t need to be world beaters on offense just average. .199 average in last 15 games just isn’t going to cut it. Should be able to hit .230 at least with these guys you would think?

If the Braves are going up upgrade CF it needs to be Kemp. With the season he’s having it’s going to cost a fortune in prospects to get him, but he’s probably worth it if he could be locked up for years. Of course that hasn’t worked out so well with Uggla to this point.
