he was never projected to miss only one or two games. Once they opened that thing up and decided to let it heal that way there was no way it was gonna be ready to play on in less than a month. and physical condition is not that big a determining factor if you have ever spent any amount of time in an infectious disease specialists office. nolie- i’m talking about initially before staph was discovered…
Game notes (from June 8)
“Braves LF Martin Prado was held out of the starting lineup. He bruised his left knee when hit by a throw stealing second base Tuesday. Gonzalez said he might miss only one start. … ”

And after reading several articles from the june 10-13… it was a 2″ cut and everything said then 2-3 weeks until it completely closes…
(there’s your research)

August is completely different than even 3-5 weeks.

Steve from OH

June 24th, 2011
11:03 pm

Venice Jim- my point is i don’t think the Braves are being forthcoming with Prado’s injury or recovery information.

Look, it sounds like they had to debride Prado’s wound based on what DOB said. Meaning they cut his leg open and now it has to heal. Sounds like it might be more than a few days, don’t you think? Plus he probably has to undergo a pretty significant antibiotic course. This is not a simple sore-throat type of infection and it’s going to take time to not only complete his drug regimen but to simply heal his incision. I think the Braves are being as forthcoming as they need to be.

Watching these late night games on the West Coast bring back memories of my childhood.

I remember a Friday night back in 1988, the Braves split a Friday night double header with the Padres.
In game 1, the Braves’ Jeff Treadway used the hidden ball trick to pick off Marvell Wynne for the 2nd out in the ninth. Joe Boever then struck out Roberto Alomar to secure the 6-5 win.

The Padres won the night cap, 2-0, and I can distinctly remember Padres fans booing Treadway during his first AB in the G2.

go Braves!

We’re watching a game between a team that know’s it’s limitations and knows what it needs to do score just enough runs for their pitchers who are by and large good enough to win with limited run support and a team that tries to hit three run home runs with nobody on base.

I’m predicting a loss for the 43 win Braves and a win for the 44 loss Padres.
