Its a fascinating bit of American history. Yeah, the comanches were nomadic and had a low birth rate and they did adopt a lot of the children they captured, wether from other tribes, white, mexican whatever. Plus the women did most of the hard work, tanning the hides, making the teepees, cooking the meat and smoking the meat for travel, on and on.

You could say the Comanches were the best horse mounted fighters of them all. Whatever one thinks, once they were introduced to the horse they dominated their area. They ran the Spanish, the Mexicans and the other tribes out of a very large part of the mid/southern plains. When non Indians fought them they had to dismount to fight, they had no chance. Once the Rangers got the revolver and learned the Comanche way to travel the plains and fight on horseback that all changed.

Cynthia Ann Parker’s husband Peta Nocona was killed in the fight were she was rescued/captured though she did not believe it. She had her daughter Prairie Flower with her, but her two sons were left behind. One of her sons died and the other became a Great Chief and after the Comanches moved to the reservation he became wealthy and was the only Chief of all the Comanche ever. Cynthia Ann’s daughter died a few years later. Cynthia ann was bitterly unhappy and wanted to be reunited with her sons she died a few years later never having seen them again.

I’ve been saying it since Prado went out of the lineup. I don’t think it’s staph only that is the problem. He also got his left knee operated on at the same time as the staph stuff. I know staph is tricky, but over 2 months recovery? it just doesn’t seem right.

I misstated in my last post. The Phillies have the top 2 starters in the NL in innings pitched, not in the MLs. Here’s a bit of a break down..

Philly. has the 31, #2 and #9 starters in the NL in innings pitched. Between them they’ve pitched 335.1 innings as of today.

Atlanta has the # , #38 and #40 starters in innings pitched. Between them they’ve pitched 273.2 innings going into today.

So the top 3 in their rotation have already pitched 62 more innings combined than our top 3. Over the course of a season this could be a ginormous factor.

The Braves owned the east 14 straight years largely because we had 3 extremely talented inning eating starters.

tcm,

Staph is not the problem, an abscess is an abscess, no matter what the bacteria is. A wound should close by itself after drainage in 2 weeks, 3 weeks tops (and I would say 3 weeks is too much for a healthy athlete around 30 YO. Once you wash that cavity in the surgery room and give him a week of IV antibiotics, that should start healing real fast.

sure it seems right if the injury is any size at all. two to three months or even longer is not unusual with healing from the bottom up. I’ve spent longer times that that on an IV every day healing from staph wounds. at least Marteen got of that fairly quickly.
