Veer- Why are you proud to be a complete freaking moron?
I am not being a moron I am simply fed up of people who are happy that we are second in the East and boast about our wildcard lead of half a game and boast that we have 2nd best record in the NL. They dont realise that a 3 game losing streak changes all that.
I want Braves to be first in the east, I grew up seeing my team in first but now fans are okay with a 2nd place finish? what happend to our 90’s pride that we had? Did we focus on the wildcard back then?
I would love to trade Lowe to the Yankees for Nunez. Yankees need a started and we could use a shortstop for next year. Perfect move but I don’t think the Yankees would make that trade. Wish Braves would have called up Gearrin instead of Asencio I don’t understand that move at all. Also I would love to trade for Chris Heisey of the Reds he can play all the outfield positions and is righthanded.
OK, do the Braves have a better than anemic offense now that I have had my temper tantrum???
C’mon Veer, we all want the Braves to be in first place. But most of us are damned happy to be in 2nd place at this point in the season, considering that our offense has been pretty much non-existant (except for Mac, Chipper and glimpses from others……)
When (if?) the bats get untracked, if the pitching holds, the Braves could be formidable this year.
Pretty cool to see Jurrjens and Hanson 1st and 2nd in the NL in ERA. Also JJ is tied in win with 9. Both guys should get some cy young consideration and certainly atleast one of them will be in the AllStar Game.
My Spring Training Predication was Brian McCann would have a monster season and be a dark horse MVP candidate. So far i’ve been right, there’s just no way he doesnt get some votes playing the Catchers position and being the clear cut best offensive player on the Braves. Right now among everyday players he’s top 10 in Slugging and OPS. Also to note among he has the least amount of K’s of the top 10 OPS hitters. He’s also 4th in the NL in Intentional Walks.
I believe McCann will flirt with almost 30 homers this year, and eclispe the 100 RBI for the 1st time in his career. He’ll be a top 10 MVP candidate.
My dad always said you can’t win an arguement with ignorance…..
You will have games like last night…
Tip your cap to their starter …. The dude pitched a gem…..
I like the make-up of our team and when we get Prado back , let’s see what happens……..
I think he makes a huge difference when in the game…
Think back to last Sept. when he went down (and Chipper was also gone)…
I was looking at Greg maddux’s numbers last night. He could have won 25 games with both the cubs and braves in 92 and 93. The cubs scored 8 runs in his 11 losses, seven being shut outs; the braves scored 15 runs in 10 losses. And still the guy won 20 games.
He was otherworldly.
Do you seriously think any of us care that you’re fed up with people who have no control over what the Braves do on the field? Proud of being in second? Hardly you damned fool – we’re just aware that complaining about it on a daily – hell, much more frequently than daily – basis changes nothing.
We don’t hit, we don’t field, we don’t pitch. All we do is remain awake and watch while these occasional bad games occur. Nothing whatsoever that we do affects anything on the field. We can’t change personnel. We can’t even ask for changes cause the process doesn’t include us.
As for not realizing that a three game losing streak puts us under the Wild Card leader? WTF? It’s still June. There’s half a season left. There are players that will return from the DL. There’s the potential for a deal to get more offense. Why are you even concerned about the Wild Card with three months of baseball left in the season? You don’t think that the WC lead will change a multitude of times by the end of September? Why are you even concerned about the WC before September anyway?
Yeah, we want the Braves to be in first place, too, but realize that not only is it not under our control, but it’s still too early to be freaking out – much less to be pissed off at the fans for not slitting our throats or jumping off a bridge.
He was halfway to the house, making that familiar walk from the barn across the gravel he had brought in last summer. A hot Virginian sun was setting, another day on the farm was coming to an end. As he looked out across the yard something caught his eye. A baseball. Not the white baseball you buy in stores…but a ball that had seen some mud and was ready for a game. The kind of ball he used to strike fear in the hearts of batters with. He looked out across the pasture and smiled. How’d that get there. But then he looked down at his hand. There was no ring there. Not that he’d wear a World Series Ring around the farm…but that didn’t matter…it wasn’t there. He looked out across the pasture again…south…toward Atlanta. The smile was gone. His jaw tightened. It was time.
VJ, I’m sorry I’m stuck being a fan of a team owned by a group that isn’t committed to winning. It hasn’t always been this way. I’m equally sorry I have to suffer your unsolicited snide commentary. Go enjoy your hippie lettuce, hug it out, and embrace that mediocrity!
Wow, poor PB must be the first person to receive unsolicited advice on the blog. I just hope he was referring to hugging it out with the Braves when he refers to mediocrity and not cab. Not quite sure why he thinks finding his relentless pessimism annoying would have resulted from partaking in the illicit activity he alludes to…
VJ – Many of those complaining about lack of winning attitude seem to forget that the first fifteen or so years Ted Turner owned the team, they were terrible – one division championship and nothing else..
Doing as good as I can. Trying to stay strong for my mom and dad. It hurts inside, but I’m managing it. Trying to keep busy/distracted to keep my mind off things until next week. Today is still a joyful day. Celebrating the good memories on his b-day today.
Are these the numbers of a World Series caliber team? The last place, worst team in baseball, Astros have scored more runs than the Braves. The Pirates have a better batting average and OBP than the Braves. The punchline Royals have a higher OPS, and half of their team is Braves cast-offs.
Lew, thanks for being a voice of reason at 10:20 a.m.
Last night’s string of reactionary missives might have set some new standard for unreadable offensiveness, especially those of one particular commenter who only posts/erupts after a bad game. Just ridiculous.
As I said every team in the has has some really bad games… No reason to freak out. People that just wanna bash the offense and use numbers and compare us to other teams , why dont you try be positive and doing that same exact thing with our pitching cause it shows we have the best overall pitching staff in all of baseball, We have a offense that has struggled most of the year but hey we have the 2nd Best record in the NL, this offense easily has the chance to be great. Heyward is starting to hit, you have to think Dan Uggla will produce eventually and we dont even have Prado right now. We’ve had injuries as well and wouldnt you know it were still one of the best teams in the league, so quit crying please.
Veer– you do realize that Gonzo is producing and playing to his norm right? He is who we thought he was. He’s played excellent defense and provided a little pop and has his usual very low OBP. How can you place blame on him? He’s done what is expected.
IVAN – I’m fine – Just Jousting With the Idiots (sounds like a new game show). (Lew)
That’s funny, Lew.
“Jousting With the Idiots”, a new game show originally spawned on the in-game blog. It’s popularity spread to the overnight blog and now has finally reached the morning crowd.
Cable will probably air it next, and if successful, maybe a major network. Can you say, “prime time”?
Unfortunately, only ONE character plays the majority of the idiots. He’ll probably hire Boras as his agent.
Good morning, Venice Jim. What time are you two going to San Diego, today?
Interesting quote by Freddy last night after the game. Just stating the obvious of course when it comes to the offense…but you have to think that upper management is trying to look for ways to improve this team offensively. I just don’t see their pitching staff keeping them in this many games for the remainder of the season. Does anybody else???

I wanny, wanny, wanny, wanny!!! Wah, wah, wah!!!
Patience, grasshopper!

Might of made a difference.

Runs: 21st
Batting Average: 26th
On-base %: 25th
Slugging: 17th
Are these the numbers of a World Series caliber team? The last place, worst team in baseball, Astros have scored more runs than the Braves. The Pirates have a better batting average and OBP than the Braves. The punchline Royals have a higher OPS, and half of their team is Braves cast-offs.

Interesting quote by Freddy last night after the game. Just stating the obvious of course when it comes to the offense…but you have to think that upper management is trying to look for ways to improve this team offensively. I just don’t see their pitching staff keeping them in this many games for the remainder of the season. Does anybody else???
