Beachy is twice the pitcher Hanson will never be!
June 25th, 20113:27 am
Our pitchers except Lowe, Is just as good as the Phillies. Our bullpen is just as good as the Phillies. Our hitters are just as good as the Phillies. But the Phillies always find a way to win. And that’s the difference in these 2 teams !
June 25th, 20113:30 am
If we trade Handson, we will be stuck with Lowe ! Our rotation would be weak !
June 25th, 20113:31 am
I keep reading about Hunter Pence, well let me ask you, look at Mclouth, and Uggla two park adjusted hitters now look at where Pence plays, do we really want to go down that road a third time?
Im still trying to figure why this organization is so fascinated with Derek Lowe???!
June 25th, 20113:32 am
nahh just dump D.Ross, and Schafer on S.F for Johnathan Sanchez! we would be fine
June 25th, 20113:34 am
Hello every one! Sorry about the lose, but we still are in second place, and we still have the Wild Card. Had a bad feeling on Lowe. Thats why I didn’t come on before work today, but we have Jar tomorrow, and more of a chance to win.Don’t trade Hanson. Trade Lowe,Agone,Nate, and put in K.K. for a package. Some one would want that.
meant to say D.Ross, and Delgado!
June 25th, 20113:35 am
Maybe, include a player to be named later in the deal, and we could pick up a decent bat!
June 25th, 20113:37 am
or maybe D.Ross Salcedo, and Vizczaino for Sanchez
June 25th, 20113:41 am
Lowe and KK Ward? 21.7 million worth of rubbish! with all due respect, i mean that honestly. There is no one under God’s green earth that will take on those two turds.
face it at seasons end McLouth 7.75 will be gone, KK 6.75 mill will be gone, Gonzalez 2.5 mill might be gone, other than that the Idiot in Charge has handcuffed the payroll of this team with Jones, Uggla, and Lowe!
Even though it was a bad loss. We are still in good shape. Phillies put Ozwalt on the 15 day disabled list today, and he’s been bothered by back problems twice now. At least we don’t have him…….
June 25th, 20113:43 am
JoeBrave: Some one would ……..
June 25th, 20113:44 am
Right before our very eyes the Atlanta orioles err Baltimore braves..errr the Braves under frank Wren are becoming a door mat! — JoeBrave
Seriously, you are completely out of control. Do you even, for a moment, glance at the standings? Do actual won-lost records, standings, mean anything at all to you? Anything?
Oh, and we had to remove about a dozen of your more repugnant posts. More of those and you’ll be gone. Again.
June 25th, 20113:45 am
38 million dollars tied up in 3 useless players, couple that with the need for an additional starter, gaping hole in CF, arb for Jurrjens, and possibly the loss of your starting SS this team is in the toilet big time, with only 15 mil to spend.
a quality bat say Kemp(9) mill or some player of that ilk, leaves 6 mill for 3 spots!
hardly a position of leverage.
June 25th, 20113:48 am
JoeBrave: The players are not all useless.Just don’t fit well in Atlanta. Lowe,Agone, Nate, and K.K.A team in a big race would want them,or some one rebiulding would want some veterans……..
June 25th, 20113:49 am
Menat to say rebuilding.,
DOB, it’s early, yes I look at the standings, but I also watch every game and what I see is pitching holding this team up right now, but as they wear down, I will say this team is a 4th place club. even if they finish in 2nd there will be no wild card, no playoffs, and moving forward no better! I am not biting on this club this year, just like being in 1st last year and dropping the ball, it is what it is, Heyward, Hanson, Schafer? I gotta ask are you kidding me? go ahead pin your dreams of playoffs on these overrated over-hyped kids if you want. I see it differently.
June 25th, 20113:51 am
Standings on June 24? no! standings on OCT 1 yes by all means.
June 25th, 20113:52 am
DOB, wish i could remember all the great bands in the late 80′ we saw.
smiths, replacements, church, smithereens, coolies, hodoo guroos.
please enlighten joe brave.
June 25th, 20113:55 am
Man, what would our team be like if we gave up on every one? Patience , I have 28 years as being a Braves Fan!
June 25th, 20113:58 am
Ward,,any team cannot succeed by developing one slugger every 15 years. Simply cannot happen.
June 25th, 20114:01 am
Only time can tell my friend, and right now we still have the Wild Card, and that makes me happy……
June 25th, 20114:03 am
I will quizz you another, when was the last time other tha Adam Wainwright the Braves developed a bona fide ace? Hint see Tom Glavine,John Smoltz era! no Aces, and no sluggers other than Andruw, and Chipper.
poor ingresients for success there, either Bobby Cox was pure genius, or one lucky SOB!
June 25th, 20114:04 am
Gregg Maddux was the Ace!
June 25th, 20114:06 am
Ward, I said developed, not acquired, Maddux was an ace before he got to Atlanta!
June 25th, 20114:09 am
Sure Doggie won a lot of games but I would say Smoltz was the Ace, no one could do what he did! want him to start okay 7 innings of dominate ball, need him to close okay 50 saves! I would say Smoltz was more of the ace.
June 25th, 20114:10 am
Fred Mcgriff, was a great hitter. Justice was good.Mac is pretty good.Uggla is good. He will only get better.Murphy was good hitter, Bob Horner was a good hitter.J. Lopez could hit. Our team was based on defense, and solid pitching too.
June 25th, 20114:12 am
Maddux won more games…….
not since 98-99 have the braves developed a true power hitter, 21 hr from McCann does nt qualify, I am talking 35+ hr.
not since 88-90 with the lone exception of Wainwright have the Braves developed a true ACE!
Scouting, and development have taken quite a nosedive since Bobby Cox stepped away from the GM post!
Schuerholz only reaped what Cox planted!, and Wren well he is still hunting a clue!
June 25th, 20114:16 am
Uggla? we’ll see, some think he will get better, I think he was park adjusted just like Nelson Cruz, Hunter Pence, Nate mcLouth, put them in a pitchers park and CLUNK! leave the small park hitters to the small park teams.
By the way Justice, Lopez, Murphy, Horner were all pre 1998
June 25th, 20114:17 am
mcGriff was a true sluuger with Toronta before he was traded to S.D. prior to being traded here.
June 25th, 20114:19 am
Heyward, could be that guy he has potential. Like I said, “we are built on pitching”. Thats how the Braves have been built on over the last decade.” It takes a team to win, not just one ace or one power hitter……”
June 25th, 20114:21 am
Totonto, has all those power hitters, and look at what place they are in. It takes a team to win…………………
June 25th, 20114:27 am
I’ll have to think about the hitters the Braves have had too! I’ve been a Braves Fan for 28 years, and a lot of players are racing through my mind too…..
June 25th, 20114:36 am
Let me ponder about that. We have had good hitters, but good solid power hitters. I don’t recall the Braves having one after 98′
June 25th, 20114:42 am
We have had good hitters like A.Galleraga the cat! Brett Boone, Ryan Klesko.JoeBrave: You got me on that one….I think you could be right?
June 25th, 20114:46 am
Well, it’s all been good, and JoeBrave be cool my friend! Talk tomorrow, and peace…….
June 25th, 20115:25 am
What a pair of morons. The second best record in the NL are doormats. You two, if there are actually two of you and you are not Lou Vales which I’m not sure that I buy, are about as foolish a pair of old has beens as I’ve seen here.Mental midgetry taken to the ultimate extreme
June 25th, 20115:28 am
Dumbfound and Joe Brave.
June 25th, 20115:31 am
The guy is back within minutes of being ousted.
June 25th, 20116:37 am
Freakin’ pathetic last night. Not surprised though…..
Facing a sub .500 team
Game after a day off (can’t play)
Why is Heyward on this ballclub?
June 25th, 20117:44 am
Thank God that football season is near. This crummy bunch of nothings are not worth even turning the TV on for. They get beat by the sorriest of teams and just fall to pieces. Stupid Ugly hitting .056 with a million strikeouts. Say What Heywood can’t hit. Jones over the hill. Poor McCann having to try to carry this sorry bunch all by himself. What a DUD of a team. Comeon football.
Dawg Gone Mediocre
June 25th, 20118:13 am
I can not wait for football season. I love rooting for perpetually mediocre Georgia football teams.

I have found a solution the the Braves Boredom problem. Just as the game is starting and right beside the tv, I smear some paint on the wall. I then watch the paint dry.
June 25th, 20119:05 am
Last night’s game was a tragedy. Hopefully Braves got all their yips out on that one.
You had to know that the San Diego series was going to be a let down on offense. Their pitching is pretty good.
Giving up 11 runs to the SD offense should have the boys hanging their heads in shame.
June 25th, 20119:20 am
ab,a tragedy? Really? Fire abwright!
June 25th, 20119:23 am
R.I.P. Nick Charles . . .
When I think of the era in which we first got expanded cable, guys like Nick Charles top the list of “new additions” to our living room.
June 25th, 20119:24 am
do you folks ever sleep?
Very proud to not be on the list posted at 8:26 AM.
June 25th, 20119:39 am
Not much to be said for last night’s ball game. Considerably less to be said for the overnight responses.
June 25th, 20119:45 am
Why are you losers proud to be 2nd place in the east and having a thin lead in the wildcard, with 2 straight loses we can easily be 4th in wildcard. We are the team of the 90’s we finished first every year and now you people are okay with a 2nd place finish in the EAST.
WE ARE 5 GAMES OUT. Alex gonzalez is the reason for all of this
June 25th, 20119:47 am
DOWN ON THE FARM
We left the G-Men and TODD REDMOND floundering and down 8-0 in the fourth last night. We make a mini-comeback with two fence-busters and stout relief pitching, but ultimately fall 5-9
TODD REDMOND [5-7, 3.21 ERA] 4.0 IP, 8 H, 8 R/ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 4 SO.
JOSE LUGO [3.00 ERA] 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 2 BB, 1 SO.
DAVID RICHARDSON [0.00 ERA] 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 2 SO.
CORY GEARRIN [3.10 ERA] 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO.
1B ‘45′ GOMEZ [.298 BA] 2-4, 1 RBI , 2 SO.
SS DIORY HERNANDEZ [.240 BA] 1-4, 1R, 1 HR , 2 RBI .
Did you read the article about the Museum of Non-Visible Art?
June 25th, 20119:53 am
DBack – Yeah. There’s one born every minute. Pet Rocks on an even more absurd level. The Emporer’s new clothes. Hell – all are appropriate to the case.
June 25th, 20119:55 am
DBack – But their prices are pretty reasonable.
June 25th, 20119:56 am
Good morning everyone.
Veer- Why are you proud to be a complete freaking moron?
June 25th, 20119:59 am
Hey Chris – You holding up all right?
June 25th, 201110:05 am
June 25th, 2011
Veer- Why are you proud to be a complete freaking moron?
I am not being a moron I am simply fed up of people who are happy that we are second in the East and boast about our wildcard lead of half a game and boast that we have 2nd best record in the NL. They dont realise that a 3 game losing streak changes all that.
I want Braves to be first in the east, I grew up seeing my team in first but now fans are okay with a 2nd place finish? what happend to our 90’s pride that we had? Did we focus on the wildcard back then?
June 25th, 201110:07 am
I would love to trade Lowe to the Yankees for Nunez. Yankees need a started and we could use a shortstop for next year. Perfect move but I don’t think the Yankees would make that trade. Wish Braves would have called up Gearrin instead of Asencio I don’t understand that move at all. Also I would love to trade for Chris Heisey of the Reds he can play all the outfield positions and is righthanded.
June 25th, 201110:10 am
Veer- Maybe we’re about fed up with idiots like you?
How ya been?.
Worked on average 10-11 hr. days the last week and a half (heating and a/c repair) and have been outta the loop…….
Need you to do me a favor…..
If you see ‘HAGGARD’ post, tell him I said thanks for the Chief Noc-a Homa picture he left at my house last weekend………
Don’t know when I’ll catch him …………..
June 25th, 201110:11 am
Why couldn’t I have come up with a scam like that? I guess my mind just doesn’t work that way.
I wanny, wanny, wanny, wanny!!! Wah, wah, wah!!!
OK, do the Braves have a better than anemic offense now that I have had my temper tantrum???
C’mon Veer, we all want the Braves to be in first place. But most of us are damned happy to be in 2nd place at this point in the season, considering that our offense has been pretty much non-existant (except for Mac, Chipper and glimpses from others……)
When (if?) the bats get untracked, if the pitching holds, the Braves could be formidable this year.
June 25th, 201110:14 am
Pretty cool to see Jurrjens and Hanson 1st and 2nd in the NL in ERA. Also JJ is tied in win with 9. Both guys should get some cy young consideration and certainly atleast one of them will be in the AllStar Game.
My Spring Training Predication was Brian McCann would have a monster season and be a dark horse MVP candidate. So far i’ve been right, there’s just no way he doesnt get some votes playing the Catchers position and being the clear cut best offensive player on the Braves. Right now among everyday players he’s top 10 in Slugging and OPS. Also to note among he has the least amount of K’s of the top 10 OPS hitters. He’s also 4th in the NL in Intentional Walks.
I believe McCann will flirt with almost 30 homers this year, and eclispe the 100 RBI for the 1st time in his career. He’ll be a top 10 MVP candidate.
June 25th, 201110:16 am
Hey Lew, just ‘veer’ off………..
My dad always said you can’t win an arguement with ignorance…..
You will have games like last night…
Tip your cap to their starter …. The dude pitched a gem…..
I like the make-up of our team and when we get Prado back , let’s see what happens……..
I think he makes a huge difference when in the game…
Think back to last Sept. when he went down (and Chipper was also gone)…
Might of made a difference.
June 25th, 201110:18 am
I was looking at Greg maddux’s numbers last night. He could have won 25 games with both the cubs and braves in 92 and 93. The cubs scored 8 runs in his 11 losses, seven being shut outs; the braves scored 15 runs in 10 losses. And still the guy won 20 games.
He was otherworldly.
June 25th, 201110:19 am
Lew if you were a baseball player i bet you would resemble a hybrid of Mather and Alex Gonzalez
June 25th, 201110:20 am
Do you seriously think any of us care that you’re fed up with people who have no control over what the Braves do on the field? Proud of being in second? Hardly you damned fool – we’re just aware that complaining about it on a daily – hell, much more frequently than daily – basis changes nothing.
We don’t hit, we don’t field, we don’t pitch. All we do is remain awake and watch while these occasional bad games occur. Nothing whatsoever that we do affects anything on the field. We can’t change personnel. We can’t even ask for changes cause the process doesn’t include us.
As for not realizing that a three game losing streak puts us under the Wild Card leader? WTF? It’s still June. There’s half a season left. There are players that will return from the DL. There’s the potential for a deal to get more offense. Why are you even concerned about the Wild Card with three months of baseball left in the season? You don’t think that the WC lead will change a multitude of times by the end of September? Why are you even concerned about the WC before September anyway?
Yeah, we want the Braves to be in first place, too, but realize that not only is it not under our control, but it’s still too early to be freaking out – much less to be pissed off at the fans for not slitting our throats or jumping off a bridge.
He was halfway to the house, making that familiar walk from the barn across the gravel he had brought in last summer. A hot Virginian sun was setting, another day on the farm was coming to an end. As he looked out across the yard something caught his eye. A baseball. Not the white baseball you buy in stores…but a ball that had seen some mud and was ready for a game. The kind of ball he used to strike fear in the hearts of batters with. He looked out across the pasture and smiled. How’d that get there. But then he looked down at his hand. There was no ring there. Not that he’d wear a World Series Ring around the farm…but that didn’t matter…it wasn’t there. He looked out across the pasture again…south…toward Atlanta. The smile was gone. His jaw tightened. It was time.
June 25th, 201110:21 am
And I bet you resemble a twelve year old with broken glasses and anger issues. That’s pretty well what you act like.
June 25th, 201110:23 am
IVAN – I’m fine – Just Jousting With the Idiots (sounds like a new game show).
Re: Haggard – haven’t seen or heard anything from him in weeks, Sent him an email and have received no response. Hope he’s all right.
June 25th, 201110:28 am
If you do make contact with him, pass on the thanks…
I know he was around first of the week when he left the picture in my mailbox….
June 25th, 201110:31 am
IVAN – No problem. At least if he stopped by your place last week, he’s not in too bad a shape. Was getting somewhat concerned.
June 25th, 201110:39 am
June 25th, 2011
VJ, I’m sorry I’m stuck being a fan of a team owned by a group that isn’t committed to winning. It hasn’t always been this way. I’m equally sorry I have to suffer your unsolicited snide commentary. Go enjoy your hippie lettuce, hug it out, and embrace that mediocrity!
Wow, poor PB must be the first person to receive unsolicited advice on the blog. I just hope he was referring to hugging it out with the Braves when he refers to mediocrity and not cab. Not quite sure why he thinks finding his relentless pessimism annoying would have resulted from partaking in the illicit activity he alludes to…
June 25th, 201110:43 am
VJ – Many of those complaining about lack of winning attitude seem to forget that the first fifteen or so years Ted Turner owned the team, they were terrible – one division championship and nothing else..
June 25th, 201110:44 am
VJ – Maybe he needs a hug?
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
June 25th, 201110:45 am
Good to know Haggard’s been around your place!I’ve been wondering about him as well…
June 25th, 201110:49 am
I dont see a big deal, every team has a pretty bad loss every once in a while.
McFann– I have a post a few comments up about McCann and the MVP
June 25th, 201110:50 am
Lew – of course, his previous blog incarnation was I Miss Ted Turner…
June 25th, 201110:54 am
Doing as good as I can. Trying to stay strong for my mom and dad. It hurts inside, but I’m managing it. Trying to keep busy/distracted to keep my mind off things until next week. Today is still a joyful day. Celebrating the good memories on his b-day today.
June 25th, 201110:55 am
VJ -Doesn’t surprise me.
June 25th, 201110:56 am
Chris – Hang in there. We’re here if you need the support.
June 25th, 201111:03 am
Good morning all
WOW We waited about 53 hours for last nights proformence.
June 25th, 201111:04 am
Batting Average: 26th
On-base %: 25th
Are these the numbers of a World Series caliber team? The last place, worst team in baseball, Astros have scored more runs than the Braves. The Pirates have a better batting average and OBP than the Braves. The punchline Royals have a higher OPS, and half of their team is Braves cast-offs.
June 25th, 201111:08 am
And yet the Braves have the second best record in the NL. Guess baseball isn’t one dimensional and there’s more to it than hitting?
June 25th, 201111:09 am
I think maybe a change in the batting order would help?
Chipper-to help protect jason
i dont know
June 25th, 201111:10 am
Lew, thanks for being a voice of reason at 10:20 a.m.
Last night’s string of reactionary missives might have set some new standard for unreadable offensiveness, especially those of one particular commenter who only posts/erupts after a bad game. Just ridiculous.
June 25th, 201111:12 am
WE ARE 5 GAMES OUT. Alex gonzalez is the reason for all of this — Veer
Interesting. And here we were thinking Uggla and Heyward might have had some small part in it, too.
June 25th, 201111:13 am
DOB – Anytime. I always carry garlic and Holy Water when I’m blogging. Never can tell what might appear.
June 25th, 201111:16 am
As I said every team in the has has some really bad games… No reason to freak out. People that just wanna bash the offense and use numbers and compare us to other teams , why dont you try be positive and doing that same exact thing with our pitching cause it shows we have the best overall pitching staff in all of baseball, We have a offense that has struggled most of the year but hey we have the 2nd Best record in the NL, this offense easily has the chance to be great. Heyward is starting to hit, you have to think Dan Uggla will produce eventually and we dont even have Prado right now. We’ve had injuries as well and wouldnt you know it were still one of the best teams in the league, so quit crying please.
June 25th, 201111:18 am
And as for Vampires – Tomorrow starts season four of True Blood.
Veer– you do realize that Gonzo is producing and playing to his norm right? He is who we thought he was. He’s played excellent defense and provided a little pop and has his usual very low OBP. How can you place blame on him? He’s done what is expected.
June 25th, 201111:20 am
IVAN – I’m fine – Just Jousting With the Idiots (sounds like a new game show). (Lew)
That’s funny, Lew.
“Jousting With the Idiots”, a new game show originally spawned on the in-game blog. It’s popularity spread to the overnight blog and now has finally reached the morning crowd.
Cable will probably air it next, and if successful, maybe a major network. Can you say, “prime time”?
Unfortunately, only ONE character plays the majority of the idiots. He’ll probably hire Boras as his agent.
Good morning, Venice Jim. What time are you two going to San Diego, today?
June 25th, 201111:22 am
Thanks that is much appreciated.
If you’d like to see pics of me and my bro my face book is bravesfanchris27.
Interesting quote by Freddy last night after the game. Just stating the obvious of course when it comes to the offense…but you have to think that upper management is trying to look for ways to improve this team offensively. I just don’t see their pitching staff keeping them in this many games for the remainder of the season. Does anybody else???
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
