N8 I am going with dumber. I actually think some of the younger ones on here are more intelligent that the ones in their 40’s however I dont know everyone’s age. Seems like alot of these bloggers have reached a point in their lives where they realize their own life sucks and is meaningless so they make any idiotic post they can think of to bash the Braves that they are “fans” of.

Eric, there is just not much conversation worth joining in on these days. I still check in and read the blog most days. Sometimes I scroll through 2 or 3 times a day. Especially at night after the games.

It’s down right sad.

When I first started coming on here, there was true debate and Braves fans with knowledge of the team. Now guys can’t even spell half of the names correctly.

I’ve seen 2 or 3 posts in the past day or two stating that the Braves should “FIRE TP!!!”.

Never in my lifetime of watching baseball have I heard of a team turning their season around because the first base coach was replaced midway through a season.

The only logical explaination is that some of these bloggers are too stupid or lazy to actually follow the team year round and realize that TP is no longer the hitting coach, and secondly it tells me that they haven’t watched many games, so their opinion is pretty much worthless without actually seeing what’s been going on.

There are a handful of bloggers on here now that make Robert and Dentz seem like good conversations.

But hey….. if firing TP doesn’t turn it around, Fredi could always fire Clarence Jones, right?

I am not sure Teheran has value in a trade for an established major leaguer, Jurrjens does. Lots of teams would love to have Jurrjens as their #2, Detroit comes to mind. I’m not sure Lowe has value except as a desperation #3, but more likely a #4 for a marginal contender, say Cincinnati, who need pitching. They do not have a veteran starter like Lowe and can hit the cover off the ball. You won’t get too much for him, maybe Johnny Gomes, who has been in Uggla territory all year.

Earlier this year, Raul Ibanez went 0-35..he has hit .406 since. Uggla is no Ibanez, but that kind of recovery is possible and would really spark the Braves. Meanwhile they are winning more than they are losing. If they want to improve the offense with a good player, they need to part with a good pitcher, which they have in some abundance. I’m not sure they can steal a hitter from anyone. Too bad Omar Minaya isn’t still in NY.

Mudge you dont think the 2nd highest right handed pitching prospect has any trade value? Not to mention he is only 20. Most aces at the age 20 were either in single A or still playing JUCO. Then again compared to the best pitcher in baseball he probably doesnt have as much trade value. Just dont understand why anyone would trade the best pitcher in baseball, especially since he makes less than 4 million.

I’ve been watching the Braves since around 1980, how about you?

Every single one of those guys you mentioned were the BEST options on the 40 man roster to have an impact.

Smoltz, Lilliquist, Avery, Glavine, Gant and Justice?

The Braves were 100 game losers the first couple of years those guys were regulars. Real “guts” on the manager to let the kids play for a team that was a lost cause two weeks into april, huh?

Chipper, seriously? The dude was the #1 overall draft pick in 1990!!! It’s a testament to HIS ability that they were going to move him to LF to get his bat in the lineup in 94 when Gant went down, before Chipper went down himself.

TP was washed up. So they put a 23 year old rookie (again…#1 overall draftpick) into the lineup at 3B to replace him. Then batted him 3rd in the lineup (provided, he was surrounded by allstars everywhere, but…). If you think going with Chipper was gutsy? That’s laughable at best dude.

As for Andruw? If you recall, Justice’s injury FORCED them to go with Dye and eventually trade for Hard Hittin’ Mak Whiten. When he failed miserably, they called up a 19 year old kid who had gone basically gotten better at each level that he stopped at that season (A-AA-AAA), ending up with 34 HR and 92 RBI while slugging around .700 with an OPS over 1.100 in 136 minor league games.

Again. Really big gamble there, huh?

Nope. If Cox had “guts” he would have started Andruw in CF in 1997, when it was pretty clear that he was the better defensive CF over Kenny Lofton, and shifted Lofton to LF.

As for Giles? Quilvio Veras had to suck ass for 2 months before they made that move.

Besides. Since when does the manager make decisions on roster moves, like releasing a guy like Veras to make room for Giles?

Those all sound like moves by a GM who had “guts” and followed what his minor league coaches and scouts told him about his young players.

McCann NEVER gets called up in 2005 if Estrada isn’t blasted by Darin Erstad at home plate. Francoeur doesn’t get the call if Brian Jordan and Raul Mondesi even remotely do the job they were signed to do.

All of the “gutsy” moves you’ve mentioned were moves that were no-brainers after the veterans had failed.

Guts would have been batting Heyward 3rd last year when he was hot. Guts would have been sitting Troy Glaus sooner and letting Hinske play 1B.

The ONLY move that I can think of where I have thought that Cox showed some “guts”, was keeping Kelly Johnson in the lineup after he started his season 0 for 30 or whatever it was. Then again, that might have just been stupid instead of gutsy. :-)

You’re going to have to do much better than show me a bunch of gutsy roster moves JS made, to prove to me that Cox had guts with his lineups.

Hell, Fredi has sat his boy twice in the past week. Do you think Cox would have done that?

JoeBrave………let me get this straight: Reagan planted the seeds (he was out of office in Jan. of 1989)…..Bush Sr. presides over a recession economy during his 4 years….yet you contend that Clinton reaped the rewards during the boom of the 90’s?

Bobby Cox the manager rode on the coattails of Bobby Cox the general manager (who drafted Avery and traded for Smoltz). Glavine was drafted in 1984, prior to Cox becoming GM in 1985. John S. tried to give Cox the kind of players who’d help us win a World Series. Cox just mismanaged one important game after another.

One Time’s if you think this offense is going to stay this bad your out of your freaking mind. I am not against trading for help, but I have yet to hear one that makes sense or see a trade that makes sense. Gonzo is solid at short. Unless Chipper goes on the DL before the tradedeadline they wont get a 3B and I dont know who they could get even if he did. Prado is great in left as is McCann behind the plate. Like it or not Uggla is the 2B and the only way he is getting out of this slump is playing. I dont care for McLouth and am not sold on Schafer but what CF is out there? The best one that I heard makes sense would be Ludwick but mark my words if we get him he will be another Ankiel. That leaves RF and 1B. I am not against getting a RF and sending Heyward back to the minors but I doubt the front office will do it. As for 1B I am fine with Freddie. He has nothing left to prove in the minors and he is solid at the plate and I think most youngsters make their share of mistakes when they come up. As for defense improving I give most of the credit to FF. He has saved several errors a week with his glove.

Also when was the last team with a sub 3 ERA miss the postseason?

I obviously am no general manger, but there are few circumstances in which I would trade an established, productive major leaguer for an untested phenom. Most such trades involve multiple minor leaguers, to increase the odds of finding someone useful. cabravesfan-I know Reyes wants big money and I know the Braves won’t pay it. My comment presumed they would. Otherwise make do with what they have. Venters and Kimbrel for K-Rod is a bad deal, as you well know. In my opinion almost any deal for K-Rod is bad.

But on to the game..enough about trades..good night

This is what happens when you over play role players. They get exposed.

Some of you guys are WAY overestimating what the Mets are gonna get for 3 months of Jose Reyes. If it was a year and a half (like Texeira) the haul would go up some. But it’ll probably be something along the lines of a couple good, but not “best player in the system” prospects.

If the Braves wanted to pursue it, I’d suggest something like Pastornicky and a couple from among a pitchers like Hoover or Oberholzer.
