The reason its very unlikely to replace a HOF manager with another HOF manager is that the first HOF manager is in the HOF because there are not many guys who could do what he did. The “there must be a pony under all this horse ****” crew of announcers on TV and radio are pretty funny with this team. To hear them tell it the team is just hitting in tough luck or just a dribbler or two away from going on an offensive tear!

‘Teeen needed to take a pitch there. Oh well, we always suck against the bad teams. I don’t get it. But, this team just doesn’t have it right now. They have the talent, but they need to find “it” and put it all together. But, it’s not April anymore…

This is a frustrating team to watch. They can’t seem to beat what is unarguably one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in baseball. The Pads can’t beat their way out of a wet paper bag, but they beat us twice at home. New meaning to “punchless.” Bummer.

I’m not even gonna get upset about it anymore. This team is what it is. Great pitching, zero offense. Every game is going to be close. Whether or not we win or lose is basically a crapshoot on any given night.

JasonFL, might I suggest commenting on the other braves stories where the first five posts are the idiots posting 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. You might find you are a bit more comfortable and among your peers. Post rational, sane comments for two weeks in a row and we can call you up to the bigs.

Pumped about tomorrow’s game! Hopefully the offensive explosion (4 runs) will carry over to tomorrow and we can avoid getting swept by the Padres AND have a 3-3 homestand.

On the bright side, big arms in pen get a rest, a good thing because if and when the offense finally shows up, maybe these guys won’t be completely gassed. Also doesn’t hurt that no one else is really dominating in the NL right now so braves still defying odds during 2 month stretch of offensive ineptitude and are still in the thick of things in the NL playoff picture. Things could really be worse but they are not.

It’s getting so freaking exhausting watching this team lose the close ones…or the inability to score runs when you are consistently getting good to excellent starting pitching efforts.
N8 is right on…Fredi should have pulled Gearing earlier than he did…but should have could have never won a ball game…so dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t.

Considering the negatives of both teams, the Braves next series vs the Mets should be an interesting one … and the Marlin series after that might be painful one since it seems like the Fish always play the Braves like they win something every game they beat them.

freddie gonzalez is not the manager bobby cox was, but he is doing a good job so far, pitching has always been very good, the hitting will come around and when it does this team could go very far. agree the braves need more speed.

The bigger problem is that the 25 men on the roster and the coaches have no confidence in the team either. The lineup knows that they can only count on B-Mac and occassionally Prado. The starters know that they have about a 1 to 2 run margin of error or they’ll lose. And the bullpen will be done by the All Star break because of overuse.
As constructed, the Braves are a 84-85 win team at best. Uggla’s been a bust. Heyward a disappointment. Chipper’s too old. They’re too slow. They don’t do the little things well enough.
The pitching has carried the team to a 30-26 record, but let’s not fool ourselves. There is no way this team is competing for a playoff spot unless they go out and get two or three dependable bats to help out McCann and Prado. And that’s not going to happen … not with this ownership.

Team was built with a great deal of hope that ff would do well,jh would be good again, uggla would hit, gonzo would field , chipper would have a final hurrah, mcclouth would return to 2008 form, prado would continue to be the spark, and mccann would cont. to be solid and very good.All these everyday players dreams plus a good-very good pitching staff would translate into a highly competitive team as fg matured as a manager .
Thank goodness for the pitching, mcann,prado, and shaefer hasbeen exciting; the rest has not panned out and the players are quite frankly 2nd tier mlb’s-nothing terrible(x uggla)

Braves optioned Minor back to Triple-A Gwinnett after the game and recalled OF Matt Young. the expectation is Minor will return June 11 if he continues to pitch well….
Chipper tweaked his groin going first to third in the first inning, and while Fredi seemed to watch to play it cautious by giving Chipper Wednesday off (with an off day Thursday that would be 2 days in a row) but Chipper wants to play through it.
“We’ve got too many guys out,” Jones said. “I’m gonna ride it ’til she bucks me.”

Thats my last game going for awhile until I see this crap turn around. I told my friend Minor was going to walk Patterson and he would steal right again. Unless Uggla can start hitting and give us help. Gonzo sucks at the plate swings at anything I dont think Schafer will hit because he only hit 256 at Gwinnet. Matt Young back thats a joke dont see Hanson winning tomorrow with the way they steal bases.
