I have mixed feelings here. I want the Braves to score and win the game, but if they do we’re in for at least a month’s worth of Shaun explaining why SD should have gone with Heath Bell.
“Gonzalez struck out to make him majors-worst 0-for-18 with 5 K and 1 W (intentional) w/ RISP and 2 outs”
UGGH! That has to be wearing on him? Gonzo is what he is, A streaky .240 hitter who plays gold glove defense. Any production from him is a bonus. Ditto for Fab 5 Freddie…
Pitcher’s will be throwing it on the outside corner every time until Chipper can prove he has the knees to hit iit with power. Chipper (mr 3 dimentional) has become one dimentional. Get the surgery Chipper!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!
“I don’t know if I’d call Alex Gonzalez “streaky.” He’s pretty consistent at not getting on base.”
lol, No Diggidity No Doubt…
I just think people he way to high expectations on Gonzo because of what he did in Toronto last year…He is the least of our offensive woes…I think I’m gonna take a nap, I’m still recovering from last nite/this morning
Another extra Innings game, Bleh! You can take it to the Bank that the Braves lead the majors in extra inning games this year, it seem like we have one of those every other night. I know that sucks for D.O.B. having to meet deadlines. I bet he cusses out the offense more than we do for all the extra inning games
Seriously. Rickey couldn’t steal if he was on this team. There is something about wearing the Bravs Uni nowadays…the T-Hawk must weigh to much and slow people down.
Doesn’t matter. He was called out and left Marteen standing at the plate. Hey, I’ve got no problem trying to get this team to run more, but Jordan, with all his speed, is not a great base stealer. And I really don’t like him trying to steal with 2 out in the ninth inning of a tie game with our best hitters coming up.
Why is it that this team cant get it going on offense. With all the extra inning low scoring high pressure games, our pitching staff is going to be shot by the time the offense gets it together.
Well….ball game. Thanks Sherrill. It was only a matter of time.
Struggla is a giant, gaping hole in the lineup.
Gonzo’s great … unless there are ducks on the pond and two outs, and lately, there seem to be a lot of ducks on the pond and two out with Gonzalez up.
Chipper’s colder than the last girl I dated (no, sorry … the one before her. Now, that girl was icy).
Any wonder the Braves have scored 2 or fewer runs eight times this month?
I agree that he is not a great base stealer. But if he is called safe like he was, a base hit from Prado wins the game instead of needing McCann to save the team. I guess we’ll never know how it would have played out either way…
I always check mlbtraderumors.com and a few other sites every day to see if there’s talk about the Braves making a move but I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t think a move needs to be made. Rather the team just needs to start performing. We lost to the team with the worst offense in the entire MLB and team with one of the worst records. This game we should have won. No excuses. We can’t go on playing games scoring just 2 runs.
I want to see Dan Struggla be the last out in the bottom of the 10th so the fans can BOO him

Bingo, fact is even with the recent injuries this team has had to much talent this season to perform the way they have offensively. Pitching has been great with a few exceptions but you can’t expect them to be perfect all the time. Braves offense needs to figure it out now, they’re the one thing holding this team back, not starting rotation, bullpen, bench, defense, but offense. One aspect of the team and a very big one at that.
The Braves need to hit better, no doubt. But this has been one of the poorest umpiring crews I have seen in a while. No excuse at that level to miss a call you’re standing on top of.
