Gearrin’s still got it.
@cabravesfan…..MAC, today? Yes–co-sign negotiated herein and thereafter—no brainer there girl.
Uggla is due up third in the 8th
I wouldn’t mind. Just my Mac Bias showing
May 30th, 20113:28 pm
Good work by Gearrin in the 8th inning. The Braves would really help us out by scoring about 5 in the bottom of the 8th inning.

it would be awesome to just blow it wide open right here with 4 or 5 runs
Linebrink for Cy
well unless they bat around in this half inning, Uggla won’t be batting in the bottom of the 9th.
It really is a no brainer. I think Mac’s going to win it for us every day
May 30th, 20113:31 pm
There goes the Braves chances of winning soon with Mac’s flyout to LF.
McCann got a pitch to hit there and missed it for the first time today.
Ok Uggla will do something to help the team this inning. Something good could be striking out with a runner on 1st instead of hitting a inning ending double play and then Freeman gets the big hit. that’ll work too haha.
good job Uggs!
Uggla takes a walk!
@DOB….yes, ‘crotch comment’ was over the top…my bad!
May 30th, 20113:33 pm
Well, it’s up to Uggla this inning…
Good AB for Freddie. Unfortunately, we’re playing station-to-station in this inning.
At least we clear “The AGon” for the ninth.
Get ahead in the count Dan
Brave4life-1995 all over again?
For Uggla, when its bad it terrible
May 30th, 20113:34 pm
solo shot? it is about time for one aint it.
Free swing this into an RBI AGon!
At least Uggla hasn’t forgotten how to run the bases.
May 30th, 20113:35 pm
Take the bat away
Well, at least it wasn’t an out for Uggla at this one.
That will work…thanks for the memories Dan
Progress ! Go Freddy
Holy crap, Uggla got on base!
Probably one of the best AB’s Uggla has had in a while. Especially since he would normally have swung at a couple of those down-and-away pitches.
May 30th, 20113:36 pm
Gapper, Freddie. Roll it to the wall
Another terrible AB by a Brave in a big spot, surprise, surprise.
Good approach by Uggla there. That is a small victory for the team.
Scott from Fairburn-
Who would you recommend closing the game if we had scored there?
Uggla walked….That has to be a good sign.
May 30th, 20113:37 pm
Let’s see if Gonzo can actually hit with 2 outs and RISP for the first time this season.
Yes….let’s go…rally a bit….Freeman awesome the past few games.
Freddie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think that was 13 ! just for the whiners.
May 30th, 20113:38 pm
Good too see Uggla is tired of swinging and missing.
Scott from Fairburn
And Jonny Venters is up in the pen … Fredi, Fredi, Fredi. You are going to have to develop bullpen package B or Jonny, Eric, and Craig will be on the shelf with arm injuries
May 30th, 20113:39 pm
Alex Gonzalez = anti-clutch.
2-outs RISP … A Gon is gone.
Maybe Chipper can hit a PH HR in the next inning
And, of course, 0-2 lives up to his nickname.
Good thing Alex plays pretty good defense
Annnnnnnd we got Alex’ed.
annnd he free swings into a K
Uggla has a good AB and laid off the junk outside.
Gonzalez seems to have inherited the “swing at the pitch waaaay outside” bug from Uggla.
Gonzo has the worst approach. He has to know that pitchers usually waste pitches when they are ahead in the count, but he continues to swing wildly. Worst man to have at the plate in a key situation with two outs. Frustrating.
That’s 6 hits off Venters in his past six outs, after he’d given up no hits in 12 innings over 10 appearances
May 30th, 20113:40 pm
Is there any company advertising now on TV more irritating than AT&T? Ski Lift, Dancing in the Train Station and the most obscene, Diner Kills Tarantula with Shoe. Any of those make me change the channel.
All you idiots who have been knocking Dan, what do you think now? Think you’re so good why don’t you get out there and play. Dan didn’t swing at any bad pitches and then he ran to 2nd after the hit. He can’t help it that nobody drove him in.Why don’t you blame the shortstop who struck out?
might as well leave Venters out there until his arm falls off.
Gonzalez struck out to make him majors-worst 0-for-18 with 5 K and 1 W (intentional) w/ RISP and 2 outs
May 30th, 20113:41 pm
Jonny was up in the bullpen in case the Braves took the lead in the bottom of the 8th. I expect that Kimbrel gets the day off and Venters is the “closer.” At this point, he might pitch an inning since the Braves will not have a save opportunity today. As Shaun would point out, this might be one of those times to use your best reliever.
bgvt – I’m well aware why Jonny is up and why Fredi likes to use him.
This is 30th game in two months. Something has to give.
Based on the first two at bats … what do you think?
when you add his Toronto and Atlanta K totals from last year, AGon wiffed almost 120 times. He’s only at 41 right now …..
GT Alum … yeah … it just looked like Uggla got his shot of penicillum but Alex “just said, no.”
Reach, hack….etc.,etc……nail biting drama forthcoming—but I really hope this thing doesn’t go–for the sake of the ‘pen,’ anything like 12 or 13 frames.
May 30th, 20113:42 pm
pitcher’s spot is due first in the bottom of the 9th, so for sure this is Jonny’s only inning
I eat my beans from a cantu….
AGon hasn’t inherited anything. He’s had the Vlad/Andruw/Frenchy strike zone at least since he became a Brave.
May 30th, 20113:43 pm
alex gonzalez is so unclutch
Time for a GiDP here — though I expect the Padres to bunt.
Venters, best pitcher in all of baseball right now. Period
That was close…
McFann :Ô: :Ô:
May 30th, 20113:44 pm
Mather up to bat first then Schafer and Prado.
Good job, boys.
Jonny has so many nicknames … Vulture, Everyday Jonny, Here’s Jonny …. can we add Houdini for getting out of two situations like that one within a week?
Best pitcher in baseball right now
May 30th, 20113:45 pm
Venters was due for a rough outing where he allows some hits and some runs.
We’re going to have to rally off Heath Bell. That sounds promising.
College Pitching Coach
Way to go Fredi.Keeprunning Venters out there.
Tomahawkin (In Pain)
May 30th, 20113:46 pm
Whats Up all?
What did I miss?
No Hitting Goons
Who thought that Gonzalez would strike out in that situation. All you have to do is throw the fool 3 curve balls outside.
Venters looks tired… his body language, the lack of movement on his sinker….
Team has been playing with Fire all season. It’s about time our bullpen blows up
Venters is off today.
May 30th, 20113:47 pm
When was the last time the braves won by 3 or more runs?
Venters is amazing.
Venters got the DP.
Not that it matters, I guess..
Nice Double Play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done by Venters and Freeman.
That was a thing of beauty! Inning ending Freeman to McCann to Freeman double play.
May 30th, 20113:48 pm
Excellent and very timely guys…now let’s have a great walkoff experience.
That was well executed…..Now get a damn run.
Johnny Freaking Venters. The Vulture. Wow.
Venters gets outta it. phew.. Good to see his arm is still attached to his body.
Opponents are 0-for-6 against Venters with bases loaded. Ridiculous.
May 30th, 20113:49 pm
Awesome 3-2-3 DP, some runs would be amazing in the ninth inning.
Double switch lets Mather lead off.
Our only hope is a walk off home run. We cannot put three hits together in one inning. No way. Especially with no-clutch Gonzalez. Auto out Uggla and popup McAnn.
May 30th, 20113:50 pm
Way to go Jonny, now go ice your arm and take a handful of anti-inflammatories …
A big fly here and Chipper can get his 13th game ending hit.
