Gotta love regression toward the mean when it is in the Braves favor, but tomorrow when we revert to our average of about 2-3 runs a game we will likely hate it again. Hahaha, but let us live up for the night.
Has there ever been a game where every member of the starting lineup has had at least 2 hits? The sad thing is there is undoubtedly a yankees fan on some blog wondering how to acquire Arroyo?
Thanks freddie Gonzalez Hello Lowe sucks and a 5-0 lead has evaporated. Martinez should of been in the game well before wow.. tie game Bravo Freddie Gonzalez.. thats why freddie YOU suck AS A MANAGER.
That was The worst management I have ever seen. Hello you get Lowe out of the Game when he puts runners on 1st and 2nd .. yet Lowe just gives the lead right back and now its a tie game.. Bravo to you Freddie and then to Lowe who was just down right awful..
Wow…what is it with this team. We FINALLY get some offense. And Lowe blows it up. And Fredi leaves him out there to do so. How much you wanna bet the offense goes back to sleep now. they start pressing and they make Cincy’s bullpen look unbeatable.
What is it with the crappy outing by Hanson, Hudson, and Lowe.
DOB, please sack up and ask Freddi why he let Lowe face Votto. Awful managing. Bobby would have yanked him in a hurry. At least intentionally walk him. Don’t be a ‘yes man.’ Ask a hard question, please.
I know the Reds offense is awesome, but I was really hoping for a game where the Braves could cruise to a win without much problem. I was wrong to think that. What is wrong with Lowe, that is consecutive outings where he has no command at all? Probably some of that dang regression toward the mean because he was never going to be a 3/1 strikeout to walk pitcher.
How do you let a starter who has already struggled in the previous 3 innings with base runners everywhere stay out there after he gives up a bases-clearing double to give up the lead?
Oy. Just plain awful by Lowe. Not unexpected, but awful just the same. This team couldn’t have an easy game. They hit, they don’t ptich. They pitch, they don’t hit. They hit, and pitch, but can’t play D. Same. Ol. Story.
I’m agreeing with Ray K. I don’t think your pitching can be brilliant every start. And I’m not really blaming fredi.I think this just happened faster than anyone could have imagined. Sometimes you just get blindsides.
Guys, I think your anger is misguided. This is going to happen to pitchers from time to time. The offense should have been manhandling all those mediocre pitchers over the past couple weeks but instead sat back like lambs and made the pitchers work their tails off to keep games close. I posted about this earlier: as soon as the offense wakes up and realizes they have to score runs to win, our pitchers will come back to earth.
THIS TEAM NEVER HAS IT ALL TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME. Same garbage every year–they manage to tie one shoe and then the other comes undone.
And of course, since the Braves typically score nil in the first 5 innings and then come to life in the last couple, they’ll now fade out and score nothing in the later innings.
Andrew, Fredi isn’t Bobby. They are two different people, and how do you know Bobby would have taken Lowe out of the game? Bobby let Lowe stay in against the Mets when they scored eight runs.
Oh boy. Here we go again. We used our weekly 5 runs quota in a game. No more runs until tomorrow folks. Of course, I will gladly eat my own words if the Braves prove me wrong.
this is a very good example of “deflating”. Team has trouble scoring runs, then they’re able to break through and score 5 over 3 innings … and then in just 1 inning your starter gives up the same run total.
As much as I would love to agree with the bashing of Fredi Gonzalez with his reluctance to remove Lowe from the game, but I respectfully disagree. Sure he had no command at all, but as a manager he needed to just be confident he could keep the damage to a minimum and atleast pitch 5 innings. That obviously failed to happen, but a manager never wants to take a pitcher with a lead out in the 4th inning. Furthermore, this reminds me of that game in late ‘09 where Lowe had a sizable lead against the Mets at Citi Field and Cox left him in give up the lead relatively early in the game and it became a blowout in favor of the Mets.
I couldn’t hate Derek Lowe any more than I do. This guy sucks. People complain about money the Braves supposedly waste, well Lowe should be on the top of that list. The offense finally comes through with some early runs, and this loser gives them all right back. Atta boy Derek, earn that money.
Now heres a rookie making his big league debut and will Get the win.Thats what this team does.when a rookie is pitching he owns and dominates them. I am guaranteeing it.. This offense will not score anymore. Cincy wins this game..
