I’m just happy I’ll get to see it. Still bitter at FOX f’ing up yesterday. I think VJ will get to watch most of it- he works until…6? I think. He missed most of yesterday’s game- I had to send him texts- but was home at the end (which FOX still refused to show, even after the Angels game ended…) and he’ll miss most or all of tomorrow’s as well, so hopefully tonight will be a good one for our Braves

Watched the last several innings of the Yanks-Mariners game yesterday and when Andruw came to bat the Seattle announcers went on and on about his HOF bona fides. Though they didn’t actually mention the Hall for Andruw, they were throwing out some amazing stats that many of us know so well. Over 400 homers, 10 gold gloves, on and on, talking, too, about the company that he keeps in those achievements–Clemente, Mays…
Now I’m not saying Andruw is Hall material, but geez, the way those guys were gushing about his career sure did make me think again.

I think Andruw is one of those guys, like those announcers were talking about, that, if you take his numbers as straight career numbers- without breaking them down into early career (where he looked to be a lock of the Hall) and later career (where he’s had trouble just getting playing time)- he easily could be considered for the HOF. His overall numbers, I think, are much better than a lot of people realize. Don’t know if he will ever get in, but I don’t think it would cause a big stir if he eventually does.

That was an excellent game last night!! I had a hunch the Reds would help to wake up BMac’s bat, and they have!!!
McCann now has 6 hits in his last 8 at-bats. Before Friday, he had 7 hits in his past 30 at-bats.

Sorry for prattling on about ol’ Andruw, but does an outfielder whose hitting stats are on the HOF margins, but who was doubtless the best defensive center fielder in the game for a 10 year span, get consideration for the Hall?

Braves could elect to go a position player short for a few days, if they want to, in order to add Gearin tonight and bring up another position player after Minor’s start Tuesday in place of Minor.

Tomas–I hear what you’re saying, but I’m not sure adds more to his resume other than the longevity that it would take to reach that total. He’s 34 and he might do it. Then again, that 500 is kind of a magic number.

I think AJ makes the Hall. Five years after he retires, and then maybe a couple more years to get in… his early decline will be much less memorable than his accomplishments.
According to BR.com, his 59.7 career WAR puts him 109th all-time, and ahead of some pretty big HOF names like Richie Ashburn (who was also a CF, btw), Willie Stargell, Billy Williams, Hank Greenberg, etc.
I know some here don’t care about that kind of stat, but “in the future” (2017 or later before AJ is eligible) I bet more and more HOF voters will take a look at that kind of thing in making their decisions. It’ll work to his favor.

I don’t know about that. I bet that if he gets to 400 he’ll get in, but that it’ll take a few years on the ballot for that to happen. If he gets to 500 he’s a lock and a potential first-balloter.

I was sort of thinking, since JJ’s starting tonight anyway, that maybe BMac could get tonight off and and catch for Timmy tomorrow afternoon…and the game did go into extras last night…
But, it’s not a huge issue either way, I guess…JJ does good with BMac catching, of course. Will be interesting to see what the lineup is tonight.

Anyword on what the Giants are doing regarding replacing Posey? I heard thoughts of bringing back Molina and inquiries regarding Pudge. I think Ross is a great asset but how often can he contribute. If you can get some ROI, why not?

noleee: I agree on Andruw. I don’t think he will garner enough votes to stay on the ballot. I loved the guy but he never seemed to love the game or take it completely seriously. Just way to much natural talent and when the time came that he was going to have to work to keep up he fell off the cliff.
If he loved the game Mays did and played with that kind of passion. He would have exceeded Mays as the greatest center fielder to ever play the game. He really was that good!
It kills me to see him in a Yankee uni!

Once Nate is ready to comeback, I think Braves should stick with Jordan, Maybe send Diory back to AAA and keep MArtin as 2B/SS…………Uggla needs to play less games. Let Schafer play LF and Martin at 2B. I know must will say Uggla needs more ABs, but I dont agree………if he needs ABs, let him do batting pratice 3 hours before and after games………..too many outs……….I dont agree that we have to wait for him. Thats not fair for the rest of the players.

Frankie Wren about 40-50 games a year to give McCann days off and keep him fresh so he can hit. Plus he definitely is one of the best clubhouse guys in the team.
No way they trade him, and Giants aren’t gonna trade a top prospect for him, they’d rather go with Eli Whiteside.

Is not that Im not supporting or punishing guys like Uggla………….I like Uggla a lot………….but exposing him so much as bad as he is looking, is even bad for him.
Id stay with Uggla if he was arounf .240, but man…………. .180??????????? We are not doing him any favor overexposing him.
Maybe he can come off the bench, have some key hits and thats all he needs…………..

No way Andruw comes vaguely close to the HOF. Great fielder, but the only way you get in if your carrer basically ends at age 30 is if you have a physical problem that forces you to hang it up like Koufax or Puckett.

Uggla should drop more in the order until he gets out of the funk. He may rest a day or even a series but not longer than that. The Braves have shown no inclination to have Martin play 2B. Keep him on the left side for now at LF and 3B. 2 positions are hard enough to prepare for.
Jordan should and my guess will keep playing if he keeps a hot hand. Nate will be a 4th OF when Heyward is back if Jordan is still getting on base. Though with Heyward just getting a second MRI that tells me his shoulder is not responding to rest as the trainers and doctors would like. Even when they clear him he will start at spring training complex prior to minor league rehab. I don’t see Heyward back before the All-Star break

Remember back in April when David Ross hit two HR’s in a game? Do you know where he was at the start of the next game?
On the bench.
David Ross catches JJ and catches on day games after night games. Especially 12 inning games the night before.
