Puzzled – had chipper tried for third on McFat’s screaming single, he would’ve been out by 10 feet…what game are you watching?
Man, I miss HOF Bobby.
Smolz made a good comments about the lack of versatility of Braves lineup. We have too many all or nothing type of hitters in the lineup and lately has been mostly nothing.
May 27th, 20119:03 pm
And some people think the Braves have base running problems. Take a look at this: http://network.yardbarker.com/mlb/article_external/the_craziest_double_play_youve_seen_since_little_league/4804680
listless, no concentration, no spark.
This blog is broken!
BRAVES FAN IN NJ
This ump at 2nd is horrible!!! How do you blow 2 calls in one game?
Lets get out of this with no damage Hanson and then offense please do something
May 27th, 2011
Struggla can’t win for losing right now.
Struggla! Now that is as good nickname as I’ve heard in a long time. Props go out to StingerSplash.
Lately base running has been a real problem, over aggressive.
Tomahawk Mafia- Thanks and I’m glad it’’s just not me who’s seeing it.
May 27th, 20119:04 pm
Hahahaha “Struggla”. Nice.
q: What is 0 7 1 and constantly makes me sick to my stomach.
a: A typical Braves Runs, Hits, and Errors line.
This team just cannot get out of its own way.
Just joining in…wanted to say that the last half inning fall on Hanson and BMac.
Hanson’s error of course and them Hanson’s lack of effort and Mac’s direction to throw to first when the could have turned a double play then as well.
The futility of this team just never ceases to amaze me. Watching the Braves this season feels like smashing your head against a brick wall……repeatedly.
Mo Vaughn could steal on hanson with all the time he takes home
In these close games, Hanson’s inability to hold runners is particularly glaring.
May 27th, 20119:05 pm
Chipper went dead asleep on uggly’s pathetic soft liner…
May 27th, 20119:06 pm
Lets see the Reds played yesterday they played a 19 inning game wed and the Braves ( who have had 2 days off this week ) are the team that looks dead tired!!!
Tommy needs to work on watching the runners.
Kris in Oz
So predictable – a pitcher with an ERA approaching 6 and we are getting shutout! Occasionally I can see this happen, but over and over and over again….. Our offense is just plain dreadful! Wren has to at least start looking at some other options.
Big Red hasn’t had an easy inning since the first..Expect the Reds to be running here
“Smoltz is right. We are not mutli-dimensional.”
Our offense is not even single-dimensional.
We are getting hose by 2nd base ump today.
May 27th, 20119:07 pm
Reds are a tough team to pitch to
Hi, I'm Dan Uggla, your new second maseman!
Smoltz is right. We are not mutli-dimensional.
And McCann’s throw was also not a good one.
wow im just lost for words with this team.
:-/ Really Mac had that ball there in time Gonzo should have gotten that tag down.
T for Texas
Actually cab, because the pitchers in either situation were LH and RH it is more than likely that I was wrong.
Linebrink for Cy
May 27th, 20119:08 pm
Rolen hasn’t been hitting great … why does Tommy keep putting him on
Mac is not a very good defensive catcher. He has a lot of passed balls, runners advance and between his poor throwing and our pitchers inability to hold guys on, guys can steal on us at will.
The Reds are also struggling, yet they seem confident, and are using their opportunities to pick away at us. We do not and don’t seem to be able to play like that. It is feast or famine with us. At so far this season, its pretty much all been famine. Our offense is making Mr 5.00 ERA look like Mr 0.00 ERA. And Hanson seems to be a head case. He was hot, and now all of a sudden he cant get people out and is back to his high pitch counts and early exits.
I called it
That SB wasn’t on B-Macc That was on Big Red, Again!
Big Red Really Sucks at holding Runners and keeping them honest as does most of all our starters, that lies on McDowell…
May 27th, 20119:09 pm
Nice, Prads. Nice.
What, that he had no chance to throw the guy out because Tommy can’t old runners on base? In that case, yes…vintage McCann
May 27th, 20119:10 pm
That was a great snag by Prado….continues to be great in LF.
I was about to type that Hanson was running on fumes. Braves daily parade of pitchers is about to start. Our bullpen will be burnout by July.
Hanson’s ability to put down a bunt, make a throw to second, and keep a runner on is glaring.
Should be Braves 2 to Reds 0 after what Reds been through in Phillies series
Tommy looks like he’s done.
May 27th, 20119:11 pm
Get The Pen Warming Up NOW!!!
JC from DR! (You gotta tip your cap to ____)
Come on Reds, put it away.
Hanson couldnt get through 5…..wow
He was all over the place though
Good Sherrill or sucky Sherrill??
Pen’s been warming for a while, T
oh .. dang .. they score another run …
May 27th, 20119:12 pm
Leake 5.13 ERA and again Braves making him look like Roy Halliday!!! This team can not hit!!!
DOB – the inability to hit is the problem tonight and most nights, not Hanson…
This team just looks listless. Game after game after game. There has been no spark. We need an infusion of some kind. A trade. Something. This trend just doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing.
Statistically, we have the best pitching in the league, and yet we go into extras every other damn day and struggle repeatedly to eek out wins against bad teams.
Hanson has ACE stuff, but again…JJJ has proven he has the ACE brain.
Rough outing for Tommy. A costly error, and some bad umpiring leaves him on the hook for the loss.
Let’s hope we continue to get the good Sherrill, and get out of the inning with no further damage.
I don’t like Fredi, but I’m glad he’s taking Ginger out. Seems like every time I watch him, he has issues.
“I’m really starting to get pissed at the way this team approaches AB!!!”
……starting? Have you just started watching this team this week?
Again…WTF. This team sux so bad right now. They cant do anything right. Every run tonight has been produced by a bone headed mistake.
hanson cant even go 5 innings not good at all. the way our offense is goin this game is over.
I’m going to sound like Mitchell, but the Braves sure do help pull teams out of slumps.
May 27th, 20119:13 pm
Tommy Hanson rarely can pitch in an efficient and economical fashion. Furthermore, it is striking how well opposing teams work the Braves pitchers compared how aggressive and poorly the Braves hitters work their opposing pitchers. I would love to see a statistic of how many times a Braves starter has thrown fewer pitches than his mound opponent.
Damn Time-Warp/Posting Comments too Quickly, GRRRR
This has not been a good night.
The Sheriff is in, Lets Do This!
Not the offense’s fault Tommy threw the ball in the OF to be fair.
So HANSON gets the early exit and despite his throwing-error run pitched pretty well, but the lack of offense was pathetic. LEAKE should have been in the showers in the bottom of the second. I’m not sure i can remember the BRAVES bats being this anemic before………well, not since the late eighties anyway.
And where was FG on that ‘I’ll show you’ call at second on CHIPPER? BC must be throwing things at whatever is in front of him about now.
Hanson was shaky though for sure…sherrill? Oh boy…
May 27th, 20119:14 pm
I’m really starting to get pissed at the way this team approaches AB!!!
Hanson threw 98 pitches in 4-2/3 inn, charged with 3 runs (2 earned), 4 hits, 3 walks, 4 K
I don’t think Loaf makes the catch that Prado made in LF.
Great point. Night after night, we seem to thrown 2 pitches for every 1 the opposing pitcher throws.
What does it matter? The Reds probably have all the runs they are gonna need against our offense.
May 27th, 20119:15 pm
Guarantee when Uggla or Heyward gets going, it’ll give all the other guys a lift. So much less pressure.
Make a trade for Reyes!! What a spark he would be!!!
We are giving this game to the REDS.
LOL. No more words.
BF – we have zero runs…they have 3…nice glove work, fat boy…
Good pitch, should have let it go.
What is that fat idiot doing!
Another FUNDAMENTALS brain hemmorage….jaja
Pitchers fielding practice come on, stupid pitchers
dang, that comment got posted 4 minutes early
May 27th, 20119:16 pm
Ok Im outta here this team F-ing sucks tonight!!! Way to go Braves you guys suck!!!
And the comedy tour continues. Way to field like a tee-league outfielder Sherrill.
This team is not a playoff caliber team the way it stands right now…
Offense is putrid
Pitchers need to freakin leave the ball alone.. Kimbrel cost us the game in arizona by deflecting the game inning DP and blowin that game and now Sherrill touches a ball he should of never touched..
May 27th, 20119:17 pm
just you wait Reds .. just you wait till the 8th inning when the offense starts scoring!!!!
This team is awful. Good pitching and nothing else.
The word “fair weather fan” is giving some of you clowns too much credit. Please don’t break your ankles jumping off the band wagon. First of all, Chipper would have been out by 15 feet if he would have tried to go from 1st to 3rd on that hard hit single to the gun armed right fielder. Hanson pitched well tonight, but the two errors cost us two runs. Prado is a remarkable baseball player and is the heart of this team. The team will be in the playoffs (probable wild car) once they get healthy. Uggla and Heyward will hit the ball.
i wonder if #6 has broken his TV yet
5 innings left to do something, will it be done?
game over and goodnight. Gift wrapped by the bonehead mistakes and pathetic offense of the Atlanta Braves.
May 27th, 20119:18 pm
No strikeouts for the Braves tonight. You have to believe that if they contine to make contact, the balls will start to fall in.
Three runs is a lot for this offense to overcome.
Yup, the team’s approach certainly has regressed this year under Fredi and LP. 2-0 is too much to overcome for this team. 3 runners in the first and no runs. This team just isn’t clicking offensively.
I can already see struggling teams in the near future asking Bud Selig to let them play at least one exhibition game against the Braves, to get themselves going.
What’s up with the time-warp?
May 27th, 20119:19 pm
You people are so negative…it’s early…Dan will save us…
Do you suppose Sherrill has a personal trainer?
May 27th, 20119:20 pm
It’s only the 5th and we’re only down by 3….game’s not over yet. Have some faith…it could happen.
Man, that ball had some crazy spin on it from the replay. Braves can’t catch a break most of the time this year. I’m ready for them to start evening out…
Like someone said it, Braves fix a lot of pitching staffs
“I’m going to sound like Mitchell, but the Braves sure do help pull teams out of slumps.”
I called it before the game started that the Reds would break out of their funk this series after getting Clowned in Philly and take 2 out of 3. Braves have been slumpbusters for opposing teams since 2009
I can taste a Solo Homer withing the next 3 innings…Yay (Sarcasm)
How can this team be so pathetic offensively every single freaking game??????
Come on Freeman
May 27th, 20119:21 pm
Hard To Believe that this team is 5 games above .500 with the Inconsistant Garbage Awfense we have. Much Props to our Pitching staff for keeping us out of last in the division. That little hot streak we had in San Francisco and Playing like a playoff team against Philly has saved us so far
Joe you sound surprised Leake is throwing a shutout .. pay attention to the team and you’ll see why you shouldn’t be surprised
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
