BFChris26, only problem with your August/September bullpen is that it has 10 guys. That won’t work. But I do like your thinking as far as not mortgaging the future…
The bullpen is an interesting dilemma for Wren, in that he really could use another reliable late-inning arm right now, to ease the load on O’Ventbrel, but come August, with Medlen/Moylan back, there’s going to be no room in that pen. That’s why a Proctor resurgence could really go a long way, if he can throw up here like he was at AAA until Moylan/Medlen return…
“BFChris26, yeah remember that 37 homer season by Ludwick…….All of us wanted him”
Hell No! Not Me!!! I have a Nasty Bias For signing/trading for ex Cardinal Players ever Since The JD Screw Trade, even though I did Like Eli Marreo in that deal, but we gave Up Wainwright…That was on the same level of Bite you in the Ass later trades when we traded Jason Schmidt for Denny Neagle…And Wasn’t Ray “Burger” King a part of that JD Screw Deal?
I was sarcastic about the pack of gum Tomas. He’d be worth more, but most definitely not Pastornicky. I was thinking more like a AA pitcher – like Oberholtzer, max Hoover.
I know what you’re saying and I agree to be honest, I’m just saying that if Heyward was to be traded, it should be only for Pujols or a Pujols type. I doubt it’ll even come to the table he’ll be traded, I was just saying that unless that kind of player is coming to ATL, then Heyward shouldn’t be traded.
Yeah I think I’d be against anything involving Ludwick. His OBP just isn’t where we need someone we’d trade for to be. Heyward and Uggla will hit, and hit for power. We need people on base.
Not to be overly negative, but you just know this guy Leake with an ERA north of 5.00 is going to go 7 strong innings and baffle our offense. We’ll be in the game because Hanson is solid, but would it surprise anyone if we lost 3-1 tonight? It’s just maddening to see this same scenario play out night after night.
The Braves are such a better team than this – it has to come together at some point right? Come on Braves let’s tee off on this joker tonight and get on a roll!

James Lee Burke is not only one of the best southern writers, he is one of the best of all novelests I have read most, if not all of his works.
…I did just get my tickets for Sunday night though! Section 126. Got a group of 9 going so it was a little tough to get tix for that many, but got a set of 5 and 4 in the same row.
I see nothing wrong with bowling over the catcher if that is your only chance to score. after all the catcher has armor and the runner don’t. Never bothered me a bit as a catcher
And if a player bowls into another player (Buster Posey) when there was a clear path to the plate (or the base) for the runner, then the offending player should be required to sit for the same amount of time as the injured player.
That’ll make these guys think twice. I am not against agressive baserunning, but sliding with spikes high into second base or bowling over the catcher are not clean baseball, imho.
Tomas – I agree with most names on that list, but not so sure about Ellsbury, Bourne and Granderson. None of those three are exceptional and I’d venture all three could be available.
Wayne, I see nothing wrong with bowling over the catcher if that is your only chance to score. after all the catcher has armor and the runner don’t. Never bothered me a bit as a catcher
The movie is Gas Hole, it is a documentary. Braint was talking about it a week or so ago. I enjoy a good docu-film, so I’m giving it a view this weekend with the lady friend.
I see the argument. But then, why can’t the runner take out the first baseman too on a ground out. It’s his only chance sometimes to be safe. Run into the first sacker. Or swipe at his glove when you go by. That’s the basis of my argument.
I think Ray Fosse might agree with me on this one.
Again, not sure anthing will be done, but it just don’t seem fair to Posey that the runner can hit him as he’s turning to make the play.
Yeah nolie, that was a tough one to watch. I don’t see a way of doing that movie without the final scene, but all the same it was a brutal. Almost too much so.
DOB nailed it. How many here would have known that you get less national attention(and also far less criticism if playing badly) by playing for the Florida Marlins as opposed to the Braves? I really can’t believe that point escaped our attention. So you really think ESPN gives more attention to the play of a regional power house and weekly Saturday Star of Fox?
As far as whose roster you would take. It would be somewhat close if Johnson had not experienced injury problems almost yearly.the Braves can win without Hudson. The Braves can win without Jair. The Marlins CAN’T win without JJ and that OBVIOUS fact shows you the great discrepency between the pitching and pitching depth of the 2 teams.PLUS the Braves have guys in the minors who would claim the 4th and 5th spot in the Marlins rotation.
The Braves can relax. The Phillies should be nervous. They have spent a Hell of a lot of Someone’s money to finish 3rd.

Ludwick is 2 for his last 27 at bats, would fit right in this team.
If any GM values him based on that, we can get him for a pack of gum. Alas, they dont do that in the real world.

Only way I’d trade Heyward, would be for Pujols or a Pujols type, anything else, no dice.
hmm, next year we could have a 22-year-old Jason Heyward for less than half a mil, or a 32-year-old Albert Pujols for $30 mil.
I think I’ll take door number 1, and spend the extra $29.5 mil on other needs.
