He only has one full season to his credit and he did have a serious thumb injury last year. Time will tell, right. Bat
You are right Bat. But seems that usually those nagging injuries come as you get older. If you are getting them at a young age, can the trend reverse itself?
Just posted a blog about Proctor rejoining Braves on Sunday. And take a look at his stats before you groan. Looks like the veteran has regained his form.
DOB, you may not be but the fans will still be asking those same questions as well as “why is Uggly still in the 5 hole and why is Heyward still in the 2 hole” long after the braves are out of it, change doesn’t come quickly in this organization.
Jerry – maybe you should head to the park and tell him that …VJ
C’mon VJ, I’m assuming to are referring to Heyward? Is so, what exactly do you think he could, or would do to a 54 year old man that grew up in the ghetto? He wouldn’t be getting my cherry on that one, and I don’t go so easily either.
If you are getting them at a young age, can the trend reverse itself? _ Jerry
I get it that people might me concerned about the guy. Shin splints, thumb ( could happen to anybody, though), back, shoulder. nolie thinks he might be too bulked up, I can see that argument, too. Who knows, he might be a guy that learns what it takes to stay healthy, on the field, and at his best as he ages some.
Moving Kimbrel to the 7th or 8th isn’t like a death sentence. He has good stuff and needs more seasoning in the big leagues. Face it…. you’re not in Kansas….ahh…Triple A anymore ToTo.
But I fear the Braves viewpoint is that they are going to eat some losses to season Kimbrel. I fear they are losses they won’t be able to afford in the end.
The typical “Braves” view was represented by the Braves pregame show with Fred Hickman and Brian Jordan. The first 15 minutes of the show, all they could talk about was how great the NL east was and how the Nats are surging!
It was a full 15 minutes into the show before Kimbrel’s blown save was even mentioned! Folks! The game was a win! The blown save was what lost it. I have an 8 year old who believes if she doesn’t address the problem, it will go away. That seems to be the Braves view as well. Remember, not only did Kimbrel blow his third save, in 11 attempts…. he also got an earlier loss by coming in and giving up runs in a tie game.
Kimbrel will be an effective closer one day…. but there is no reason Venters shouldn’t get that job now. Everyone is all gaga about Kimbrel’s stuff and the possibilities, but they seem to be overlooking that Venters has unhittable stuff NOW and is proving it every night! Every Venters appearance isn’t a cause for multiple calming drinks of alcohol! Kimbrel’s are.
So in essence, in an effort to feed the hype of Kimbrel’s stuff, the Braves seem willing to ignore the FACT that Venters is performing TODAY at a closer level, while Kimbrel is still nothing but “promise.”
So do sore shoulders cause a player to not recognize pitches out of the zone?
It must make you swing at pitches in the dirt too. Wah wah wah. He’s overmatched and everyone knows it. Injury or not, he’s not yet the player we hoped we would be. I know he’ll get better, but with his type of swing/stance, he’s not going to hit over .300.
Someone needs to fix him quickly before his “pull all” mentality becomes too deeply ingrained in his game. Anyone who disagrees or is simply too fanatical over this guy needs to take a look at his 2010 opening day stance/swing and compare that to this year.
Then, he was balanced with a closed stance. This year he’s open and diving towards the ball.
So how does an inflammation lead to a feeling that “something is loose in there”? No wonder Fredi was so calm about it, even saying that all he needed was “peace of mind”. He should’ve just got him to meet up with Ward.
Well….atleast we will have some good guys to trade and get some decent draft picks!!
Cause we are about to get swept by the great NATS…and it gets better…we get phily next…Halladay perfect game coming sunday

Didnt he die or something? SB
Yeah, Sam Sheppard died in 1970. Fast Eddie Watkins did time with him somewhere, and said afterwards,’ I guess you can get away with murder sometimes’. Who knows about Fast Eddie, though.
They don’t even deserve to have fans watching or even feeling bad for them when it comes to playing the Nationals. This team just doesn’t have what is needed to compete.
Well, I warned you folks early that the Nats were much improved this year. The have a line up that can drop a crooked number on you pretty quick, they just needed pitching….
