Noticed prado didn’t fly from the box either on his GS…
Not good to run over the base runners in front of you, makes the runs not count. Could have been a sack fly, point is its two different situations.

Went away and I guess something good happened, huh? Well, James got booted from Idol, and Booth and Bones slept together – well at least in the same bed. Played a search and seek game and was about ready to shut it off and I decided to see what had happened with the game. What a great and wonderful surprise to see Marteeeen hat slammed one! Now I’m up to see what happens here.

That liner in the playoffs is something similar to what happens to anybody who has played the game.
You hit the ball into what is clearly going to be an out, you come out of the box with your head down.
The SS drops the ball, while you are not watching, and you notice way too late to pick it up.
Tonight he really screwed up, but that AB last fall was understandable. Not excusable, but understandable.

Wayne, I’m pretty much done raggin’ on Gonzo for his incredibly poor OBP. He has been more than worth his salary since we got him.
I might take a feeble lil’ poke once in a while from force of habit, but at least lately my heart ain’t really in it;and there are others who ain’t doing much better.

The “it’s over” signal Alex made when he hit his walk-off against St. Louis last year, had a bit of a Yunel flair.
His crappy defense when he first got to Atlanta made the trade seem questionable.
The oft discussed failure to run out that ball in the play-offs.
That play right there, when he didn’t run out what he apparently thought was a homer.
How long has he been in Atlanta now? 90 games? I think that’s a fair start.

I gotta call BS. Flair ain’t screwing up, unless you take it to Escobarian extremes. And the “crappy defense” was about a week or 10 days of a few errors. Not crappy defense. As I recall, I don’t think the errors hurt the team much at the time. And almost every ball player goes through those sort of fielding funks from time to time.
Definitely NOT a sign of lackadaisical play.
And the play in the playoffs was not dogging a play, as much as a frustrated play.
Like many on here state, Gonzo ain’t perfect, but he has been WELL worth the money. We’d be screwed for sure without him.

Wow. Just saw the Hawks score….it’s tough living in GA with hopeless teams….you know it going in and yet we watch and keep hoping….but it never happens for us but the one time….sigh…

Joe and Chip. You actually have people watching the game who understand baseball. You also have a sponsor that probably would appreciate you honoring their nightly awards. That said, I love Brian McCann for everything he does for the Braves. But, tonight’s “Home Depot” player of the game was Martin Prado. You can be good at what you do and frankly you can be pretty damned goofy.

Yes, it’s understandable if the player is an idiot who doesn’t have his head in the game — a one-run, go-home playoff game in late innings, no less, when you know you absolutely have to get on base. It’s not understandable for any player who remotely has a feeling for the game. But you’re right that it’s inexcusable.

Part of the reason you are calling “BS” is because you have misinterpreted what I said.
You say, “flair is not screwing up.”
Where did I say flair is “screwing up”? Please, show me?
I said he’s done things are Yunel-esque.
I didn’t say all of them were bad, or necessarily hurt the team. I just found his style to be a bit “Yunel esque” for a guy celebrated as apparently being something very different.
You come across as very sensitive about something regarding Alex, because you’ve chosen to defend all his errors, saying that they didn’t hurt the team and that what he did in the play-offs was just “natural”.
Relax. No one’s out to hang the guy. I just think that on the field, he displays a similar attitude and style as Escobar.
I’m sure off the field he’s a class citizen and does not create the clubhouse disturbances that Yunel apparently did.
And, while you’re dismissing all of his errors (and yes, everyone makes them, and his defense has been phenomenal this season), here’s one you might also want to forget.
Perhaps this one stands out because I was sitting in the stands watching it.

A final thought or two. Kimbrel is the real deal, even before tonight’s game. We need to show a lot more patience with the youngsters (Kimbrel, Venters, FF, J-Hey, J-Teh, etc.)

nolie – just curious how close to 500 is near? I would guess 465 is a pretty fair target for where he ends up and that is 93% of 500 which seems pretty near to me.
What % of players in major league history are nearer to 500 or over than 465?

Well, I’d sure hate to see what your idea of “lackadaisical dogging” looks like — he’d probably have to lie down on the dirt and take his shoes off.
In any event, I think we’ve finally figured out Alex’s approach to hustle — he’ll run hard IF AND ONLY IF he’s immediately convinced that it’s necessary and won’t be a waste of effort. If there’s any doubt, his default position is to conserve his energy out of the box. Just like they teach you from Little League onward.

Tonight makes 3 straight playoff losses in deciding games for the braves, falcons and now the hawks…at least the thrashers were too awful to even qualify to lose a deciding game at home!
Sorry, it’s just sad to have to continue enduring such poor efforts in crunch time….will it ever end?

I gotta give props to the Hawks for once again showing why it is a noble task to be a fan of these Atlanta teams sometimes. Thanks Braves, without you I and the rest of Atlanta would have no clue how it feels to be a champion.
So the Hawks continue their streak of never making it past the second round while in Atlanta. If OKC closes it out against Memphis, they will have already achieved a feat that the Hawks haven’t in their 40 plus years here.
