Very strange there with the walk.
I think jonny just decides with certain hitters….chase it out there or take your base,he never looks bothered after one of them 4 pitch walks.

Given the definition of a closer, why is Johnnie V not filling that role for the Braves? Can you have a better line than this: 2ER, 22 K, .083 ERA, .69 WHIP?

I have no problem believing that Alex Gonzalez’s teammates are happier with him than they were with Yunel Escobar. And, in terms of production, I’ve been pretty satisfied with the trade.
That said, Alex sure does a lot of “Escobar-esque” things on the field, that leave you scratching your head from time to time.

Interesting. I HATE when a player dogs it on a hit like Gonzo just did. He should get an ear full from Fredi, and maybe get sat down for a game.
And then there’s Mitchell, who instead of saying something like “terrible play by Gonzo”, he instead states “Still so much to dislike about this team.”
What did the “team” do in that half inning to dislike? It looked like to me Gonzo blew it. None of the other 24 screwed up that inning, unless you want to count FF and Mather for making an out….God forbid!
If you are so embarrassed by “your” team, why don’t you find another team? Maybe go for the Yankees or the Red Sox???
Or if you just want to bitch, then take on the Pirates or Houston or KC. Lots to dislike about those franchises.

Alex Gonzalez got on my hate list last year for failing to run out that soft liner the Giants dropped in the playoffs, thus killing any chance we had of coming back. He was just beginning to work his way back into my good graces, and now this. Once a loafer, always a loafer. If Fredi had sat his butt on the bench for the 10th inning, that would have sent a strong message.

Alex is a very talented player, great defense, I’m sure he gives you 100% effort always. He runs hard, gets good reads to score from 2B, etc.
But that right there isn’t new. Remember in the post season, he lined to short thought he was out, and he didn’t run hard to 1B, surely enough Renteria dropped it.
Having said that, I still think he is an extremely valuable piece as we’ve seen this year, he has a lot of pop, and that defense is out of this world.

This won’t get answered tonight: first, Linebrink, is the statistical sample predictive at this point? Lord, we’ve got stats for “righties/lefties/fullmoon/day/night/close n’ late/and every other damn thing – but no stats that say “ain’t happn’in this year”? I understand that for Mather, the team’s 25th player striking out 6 of his first 12 at bats is obviousluly non-predictive – but when is the sample “statistically significant” (even better, when is it a “strong indicator”?)
