OUTSTANDING! What ever happens today and (a win will be nice) regardless things are looking good. Nice finish on a West swing, and this kid is just pitching his nads off this year. What a luxury having to give the ball to this guy as your 5th starter. Starting pitching has been really strong, Prado is way too good of a hitter to worry about, he will have a big year. Kimbrel is not M Rivera yet so cut the kid some slack. Great tools. Key is Chipper. Can he stay healthy and produce like he has all season. That will be the key folks.
Beachy’s starts against the Phils in September only excellerated this kids’ progress. He didn’t win but it spoke volumes on gaining confidence against a team like that and in that environment. Great experience.
Bobby pulled a rock bringing Kimbrel out Game 4 against the G-men. If he saves that game it goes a long way into developing the kid’’s confidence. He loses that game closing chalk it up to a great experience. Knowing Kimbrel is your closer next season he finishes that game against the lefty hitter. One man’s opinion.
Just off topic….chime, yes the “Just for Men” stuff is really lame–hair color has nothing to do with meeting others and if it did–the relationship is worthless.
I want to be mad at Fredi for how he handled that inning. But I just can’t. Beachy had been terrific and was under 100 pitches. So you wouldn’t pull him before the 8th. And maybe you pull him after the leadoff double — after all, in the 7th, the Cardinals had pretty good swings on him — but i can understand wanting him to pitch out of it.
Can’t walk Greene in that spot. Just can’t.
But again, I don’t blame him for leaving Beachy out there. That’s baseball.
