Is McDowell being placed on administrative leave the first step toward his dismissal, or just a holding action while the Braves’ management and Selig figure things out?

@Travis

What? This is his first offense? Do you have any friends that have ever drank and drive, how many people do you know who have done stuff like this? Do you just toss them aside and act like they are completely dumb for having a moment of stupidity? Did he kill anyone? NO. Did he injure anyone? NO. Did he risk an innocent person? YES, but he didnt. He will learn from his mistake and it will go away in time and it wont even matter anymore, theres no point in dragging something stupid out like this when there is no need to.

Honestly, It kind of has gotten to the point in society that a major league baseball game or any theme park isn’t the best environment to take kids to if you or your kids are one of the delicate types…Especially with so much Crap that is on TV or on the radio

Hell kids will hear/see the same kinds of stuff going to Six-Flags so people just are going to have to deal with our flaws of society in which I think they are 3X as worse than when I was 20 years younger…

One Thing that has gone unnoticed by many Chipper Skeptics (including myself at times) is that he is off to a WAYYY Better start as opposed to a year ago…he is back to being the 3 hole hitter.I still don’t think he will drive in 100 runs but if he does, we make the playoffs by Default as the Wildcard…Having J-Hey Score 100 runs this year will definitely help his chances of doing so

The Braves haven’t had a 100 rbi producer since Tex…? I’m Guessing, and that was split stats…So unlike the roid era where we had 3-4 guys in the lineup drive in 100 runs annually it seemed

Bat Masterson, I was trying to put myself in McDowell’s mind, trying to think logically of what had occurred.

My intention didn’t wasn’t meant to hurt anybody’s feelings or beliefs. I may not like gay people but I treat them with respect, because that’s the way everybody treats me. And if you wrote what you wrote because of the extremely exaggerated stat I threw out there, then I understand.

Any Seinfeld fans out there remember the episode with Keith Hernandez and the “spitting incident”- a parody on the JFK assassination? (”Nice game, pretty boy!”- ring a bell?) At the end, it was revealed that there was a second spitter on the grassy knoll, who was…
Roger McDowell! Kramer and Newman then remember that they had spent the whole game heckling him in the bullpen, and poured a beer on his head. Roger is actually in the episode.

Forgive me if someone has already brought this up. I was watching this episode last night and almost fell out of my chair when Roger was revealed as the perpetrator- and why he did it.

I guess life really does imitate art.

Tomas…..your 4:55pm assumption that 90% of San Francisco is gay is laughable. More like 20-25%. San Francisco has a significant Asian population (they make up the biggest % of the population in S.F.), and I can tell you that the Asian community is even more conservative socially than any ethnic group.

The demographics of San Francisco has been changing for quite some time. Other than The Castro (which is where the vast majority of gays in S.F. live)…every other neighborhood in San Francisco is vastly straight….some are significantly Asian populated (like The Richmond and Chinatown). And come November, it’s almost a given that San Francisco will elect its first Asian mayor (the current mayor, Ed Lee, was appointed by the S.F. Board of Supervisors to replace Gavin Newsom, who became Lt. Governor of California).

I’ve said this before, San Francisco is a straight man’s paradise. If you’re a straight white male over 6′ tall, there is NO REASON why you go without (Asian girls love tall white guys…that is BY FAR the biggest interracial pairing you see in the Bay Area).

Joke all you want about S.F. being gay. If you only knew…………..

Definitely not another feeble offensive performance, Thats why I said it was an extremely exaggerated stat and I looked it up.

According to the 2005 American Community Survey, San Francisco has the highest percentage of gay and lesbian individuals of any of the 50 largest U.S. cities, at 15.4%.[138] San Francisco also has the highest percentage of same-sex households of any American county, with the Bay Area having a higher concentration than any other metropolitan area

Adversity serves to build character. Live and learn.

McDowell will keep his job as he should, but not without some serious punishment. As for Derek Lowe, as much as I truly despise drunk drivers, Lowe’s infraction is just a blip on the radar of his career. He will get the proverbial slap on the wrist, and it had better not happen again.

All in all these two off field incidents will have little impact on the field. So our Braves will keep right on playing competitive baseball. As they should.

April 28, 2011: More than 30 years after they left Earth, NASA’s twin Voyager probes are now at the edge of the solar system. Not only that, they’re still working. And with each passing day they are beaming back a message that, to scientists, is both unsettling and thrilling.
The message is, “Expect the unexpected.”
“It’s uncanny,” says Ed Stone of Caltech, Voyager Project Scientist since 1972. “Voyager 1 and 2 have a knack for making discoveries.”
Today, April 28, 2011, NASA held a live briefing to reflect on what the Voyager mission has accomplished–and to preview what lies ahead as the probes prepare to enter the realm of the Milky Way itself.

Bat Masterson…….if being a bigot means that I feel that all religion is BS, then I’ll be a bigot all day long. Still, I do feel that people have the right to believe in whatever nonsense they want to believe in….as long as their beliefs arent forced on others.

My beliefs are no different than Bill Maher. If you think I’m a bigot, then you should email him and call him one as well.

By the way, I’m sure that Bill Maher will have something to say about the Roger McDowell on his “Real Time with Bill Maher” HBO show later tonight.
