Has anyone suggested the song “Whole lotta shakin going on” By Jerry Lee Lewis ?!?! I say forget about “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” to which the Braves copied from the Rockies anyway !
Well I just got some news – my step dad got me and him 2 of his company’s Suntrust level tickets for the game on Saturday. We’ll be right behind the Braves dugout, and on the field schmoozing during BP. I’ll be rubbing elbows with DOB and Brian McCann, making everyone crack up with witty one-liners.
I wish em luck flying back tonight….can’t see how they do it until this horrible stuff moves on….the tops on these storms must be 50,000 feet and the storms are as thick as Barry Bonds’ head…
Haha. McDowell story is ridiculous. I don’t care if it’s true or not–in my limited sporting experience, coaches are some of the most foul-mouthed people on the planet. Like drill instructors or boat captains, you know? Doesn’t make it right, but I could care less. The fact that it’s Gloria Allred and TMZ doesn’t make me interested in looking further into it. Nice to see the dad perpetuating the ‘obsecenity’ in front of his daughters on national TV… Now is that appropriate, either?
Question for you mavens…I bet Shaun even has the stats. Are the umps calling a smaller strike zone this season? I notice that Tommy has over 110 pitches thru seven, and many of our starters have averaged over 100 for 6 or more innings. Just wondering and thanks.
DiamondbackMac: I thought of that a couple of games ago when he did the splits about 4 or 5 times, scooped an out everytime. Looked just like the wishbone at Thanksgiving!!
Let’s hope those hammys, obliques and whatever that other stuff in his leg is, holds up for the season.
After that stolen base in the bottom of the seventh the Padres guys said, ‘that should have been indifference, nobody covered the bag. But they gave him the stolen base, on well, it’s inconsequential.’
@Cabravesfan:………Well it’s more of a laid-back approach…like to live and let live; of course while enjoying a swim while observing snow-capped mountains. A demeanor that is perceived as a bit less judgemental and such….in contrast to what I experienced growing up in the south and attending The Church of Christ.
So…. Braves go back to Atlanta and one of the relievers is going to be the odd man out, right? The team is supposed to call up a position player once the road trip is over from what i’ve read.
Bat M.My first thought was, not to McFann. I’m throughly indoctrinated.
Don’t be ashamed!
I agree with those announcers that it should have been indifference. I mean, if no one was covering…and we DO have a 6-run lead. No need to stick BMac with an OSB there…
Murph, I’d assume it would have to be either Gearrin or Ascencio. I’d say before today it would have been Gearrin, but the fact that he just had another solid outing, and that he is somewhat of a Moylan clone in his repertoire, it’d be more likely that Ascencio goes down.
Gearrin hasn’t been up for 10 days yet so I don’t think they can send him down right away even if htey wanted to- I think he’s pitched too well to not give him more of an opportunity (10 days, I believe, would be Saturday)
Gearrin hasn’t been up for 10 days yet so I don’t think they can send him down right away even if htey wanted to
The 10 day rule is not about sending someone down, but about bringing someone back up.
So Gearrin can be sent down, only Young cant be brought back up unless it’s an injury replacement.
If Fredi won’t use George Sherill for an inning with a 7 run lead then why is he on this team? Seems smart to use Kimbrel and his already heavy workload just because they have an off day tomorrow (sarcasm)
Even if the story is true, I doubt Roger is in “big big trouble”- he’ll issue an apology (which is all the people are asking), take a class, and maybe get fined. It will blow over and he will learn to be more careful about what he says.
By the way, I have to wonder what these people are after, considering they hired the Media W**** to “represent” them, when all they are seeking is that apology. Nobody hires her if they don’t want some kind of publicity. Plus, trotting your daughters out on TV screams “LOOK AT US!!”
Leave Young in the minors, bring up Costanza
Release Conrad, add Moylan when he comes off the DL
Send Hicks down, bring up Lucas or that guy who keeps hitting HR’s… can’t remember his name
That’s what i thought too, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that it works both ways. Doesn’t really matter- I still think Gearrin’s earned a longer look

Every once in a while you read stories about whether a professional athlete could come out as a homosexual in this day and age, and every time it seems we’re moving toward acceptance, we get pulled back to reality.
According to TMZ.com, noted attorney Gloria Allred has accused Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell of using several homophobic slurs and comments toward a group of male fans at San Francisco’s AT&T Park last weekend.
According to Allred, McDowell asked a group of male fans, “Are you a homo couple or a threesome?” A family of four, including two 9-year-old girls, said after McDowell made the remarks, he used a baseball bat to simulate sex.
After the father confronted McDowell, the pitching coach reportedly responded, “Kids don’t [expletive] belong at the baseball park.” And then approached the man with a bat and said, “How much are your teeth worth?”
It’s unlikely Bud Selig’s crew will add McDowell’s “kids don’t [expletive] belong at the baseball park” as a marketing slogan anytime soon.
The family wants an apology from McDowell, as well as a fine from the commissioner’s office for both McDowell and the Braves.
McDowell has yet to respond and he’s innocent until proven guilty, but it’s tough to say it’s uncommon to hear that kind of talk in baseball clubhouses — whether McDowell is dumb enough to say that outside the clubhouse, that’s another story.
