Power at the plate , a little situational hitting, good plate dicipline, crisp defense, masterful pitching (loved the Ankiel spanking)…………so far, very good.

Don’t anyone say “it’s eary”. I know, I’m just enjoying good opening day baseball, and we’re winning too.
And I want to win the first one for the Fredi. :-)

If he can get this inning in under 90 pitches, I think he’ll go out for the 6th. It’s not hot, so he shouldn’t be too fatigued. Of course, it is Lowe, so he’s probably still soaking wet.

CLE,

Apparently because I live in South Mississippi (which is apparently close to Atlanta according to the brains at MLB and the Braves), Braves broadcasts are blacked out. We don’t get games here on TV other than the weekly game on Fox Sports South and nationally televised games. So I figured MLB.TV would be a good way to see more games. I’m not a happy camper.

David O'Brien

Checking my own trivia: since 2000, Livan and Doc Halladay both have 12 CG losses, the most in baseball.

PTC Steve

Fredi had it right on about Livan. Gives up a couple of runs, you think you might chase him early and then you look up, it’s the 8th inning and he’s still out there. Definitely something to be said for knowing how to pitch, and not just throw.

Chop Chop

March 31st, 2011

Livan started rolling once he got the ball down and honed in on that wide strike zone. Lowe’s getting so much movement on his pitches that he hasn’t been able to hit the corners as much as he’d like, but that movement has been so effective against the Nats’ hitters that it hasn’t mattered.
