Yeah. We should all be worried about Kimbrel. (eyes rolling)

O’Flaherty, Moylan, Venters and Kimbrel will make up the best 1-2-3-4 punch of ANY bullpen in baseball.

Period.

yes sir – wow a new era in atlanta– where are all the doubter and raggers today chipper 2-4 got in going with his double– great use of the bullpen today somehting we did not always see in the past for those who were negative about freddi and whining about bobby being gone– and for those who doubted kimbrel he just showed you waht he would have done last year in the playoffs when he was jerked withtwo outs– fantastic bunch of brave fans going to be aeting crow this year- where are you foghorn- ragging on chipper?

Kimbril is a bada**. Do any of you remember when Kimbrel came in with nobody on base, walked the bases loaded and then proceeded to strike out the side? I knew then that he was something special.

And that my friends is a great way to start a season!

Chipper, McCann, and Heyward all looked great, Lowe was his usual workhorse, and Kimbrel snapping off that ridiculous slider to freeze Ankiel.

1 in the books, team is looking good… it’s Miller time!

Well, the 8th and 9th couldn’t have gone better if you scripted it.

Venters: groundout, groundout, groundout
Kimbrel: flyout, strikeout, strikeout

I think Venters will avg 2 groundouts an inning and Kimbrel 2 strikeouts an inning. I’ll take that all day long.

I swear this vow unto you, Baseball Gods:

If we ever lose a game, I will be mad and, of course, I will forget the happiness I felt this day. I will hate certain players along the way. When I hate them, the hate will be permanent until I see a World Series trophy celebration in the Braves’ clubhouse. If that happens, I will forget the hate I felt until pitchers and catchers report. At that point, I will renew my hate until I see another World Series trophy celebration in the Braves’ clubhouse.

This, I vow.

Everything seems to be in place. And Martin was even nice enough to put up an 0-fer so Nate wouldn’t feel so bad.

Why doesn’t someone go take a look at how long Bobby left his opening day starter in the past 10 years or so.

You treat starting pitchers differently at the beginning of the season than you do at the end of the season. Just the way it is.

Looks like the Bobby bashing is about over (except for Robert) – Robert v Bobby = Ahab v Moby Dick –
So now we are going with the bash Chipper (especially batting 3rd) obsessions.

Just 1 game, but line-up worked pretty well today. Of course, I know Don…I mean HornLeg or whatever, has a mental defect, and must obsess about something rediculous. All I know is that for now, we are undefeated and in first place with Chipper batting 3rd (.500)

McLouth goes hitless in the first game of the season, and he’s being bashed already. Unbelievable. No wonder the Baseball Gods have not been generous with us since ‘95.

Great win today and a great way to start Fredi’s tenure. The pitching was obviously stellar, and the hitting, while not great, was encouraging at times. There is a good feel to this team. Chipper talked about this before, the expectation of winning. Go Braves, 1-0!

It must really suck to lose opening day.

Especially if you’re Rick Ankiel going from hitting a home run into the bay in October to crappy Washington D.C. with the Nats.

I mean, if you’re the Mets tomorrow is like Game 7 of the World Series.

Did not see Lowe throw a slider today, just two seamers and cutters.

The Royals have Melky and Frenchy both starting in their outfield. Yikes, how would you like to have to watch that everyday?

RC Sorry, today was not better than last year. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy as can be, but last year was amazing. Not going to beat that one anytime soon.

yeah, itll be at least a year.

Dave, that’s now two AJC writers. You, and Jeff Schultz, who think the Braves are going to win the East. I’ve been a Braves fan for 29 years, and try to consider myself “realistic” when it comes to them.

The Phillies staff of Halliday, Hamels, Oswalt, Lee, and Blanton, might be the best since.. Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Millwood, Neagle, et al. Opponents are not going to get many runs off that starting staff.

Not to mention, the Phillies still have some power.

The Braves, except for Tommy Hanson, have an old rotation.

Yes, the Braves are a very good team, one that should win more than 90 games, and might sow up the wild card with a week to go.. but.. I just don’t see our club besting that Cy Young Staff in Philly.

The Braves should make the playoffs, but I really think it will be as the wild card. Philly should win the East, unless they have major injuries, and the Braves play above expectations.

Wow..

“McLouth is off to a good start toward earning that $1.25 million buyout.”

Yep and Prado and Freeman are off to a good toward being sent back down to the minors and Uggla = bust.

Oh wait, there’s how many games left?

Gil: I think I saw a good bit of sliders from Lowe, especially after the 2nd inning.

First Braves win for Fredi.

First win of the season.

First shut-out of the season. That was a bit of a surprise.

Chipper, McCann, and Heyward all contribute to the offense.

Got to love that opening day baseball.

An amendment to my post: I know Jair Jurrgens isnt “old”.. but.. we dont know what we will get from him this year, after the disaster of last year, and the fact that he will start the season hurt.
