I guess the co-closer thing didn’t make it out of spring training. No reason to pitch Venters in the 8th against Desmond, Werth and Zimmerman if you are going match up style for closers. Kimbrel was the call there if that’s your philosophy. Looks like Fredi is putting Kimbrel in the closer role and Venters in the setup role, regardless of matchups. Or maybe Fredi doesn’t fear Werth/Zimmerman like he does Utley/Howard/Ibanez?

you can say the offense struggled, but the fact is we played on the road in lousy weather and beat a pitcher that owned us last year. and our defense and pitching was outstanding. fantastic effort today. way to to Braves

Nice job by the pen today
Offense was pretty bad, but the pitching was very good. If Venters and Kimbrel can keep this up, gonna be pretty special. McLouth looks just like he did for most of the past two seasons.
