I should clarify- Even if we were winning this game by 40, I’d say it was a bad idea because that’s what USC does. They are incapable of playing well for consecutive games…no way they would win 3 times in the Tournament
That is pretty good. Well, that is unless you just shot and shot and picked 3 shots in which you hit 2 and decided to use that as your point of reference — over 65%!
I see now what you meant when you said that you were not throwing in the towel. Looks like you are going for another victory. You should be well on your way to over 100 posts.
JC DR you don’t need to do that. I will let you have all of my posts from the last blog. I did not realize I had posted so much. I was a little embarrassed that I had so many. I was just conversing and it all added up.
JC you didn’t get some baseball today? Seemed strange that what was for the most part the Braves’ second team beat what was for the most part Boston’s first team.

Yeah, nolie, I thought about mentioning that when I posted about Wilt. But I thought I would leave well enough alone. Should have known you would bust it.
prolly doesn’t take all that long JC. Hitting that “Show All” button turns the blog into one long page and he has a program the sorts on the poster name field and adds the totals. At least that was his explanation.
But CAB any given night a player or even a team can just be “off”. But I think that free throws are a basic skill that should be practiced until it is second nature to a player in the higher levels of basketball competition, just as you seem to think.
any given night a player or even a team can just be “off” PTBNL
absolutely true. physical talent is not an absolute. Players don’t run at exactly the same top speed every time they compete, or any other aspect of performance. It’s more like a range of ability rather than an exact amount. Good training always helps, of course right??
Yes, JC, but the pitching was the key, and that wasn’t our bench guys. I didn’t see the whole game, but what I saw was encouraging because the B team played pretty good defense which allowed them to keep the game low scoring. So there definitely seemed to be some encouragement there.
PTBNL – Yeah, exactly. It was great to see hanson rebound after allowing that leadoff HR, retiring the next 15 batters he faced! Sherrill was the one who looked a bit shaky, I hope that changes because during the season things could be ugly out there everytime he comes in relief with a short lead. The bullpen can be the deciding factor in whether the Braves make it or not.
nolie – im thinking maybe the amount of activity increased his hormones and such possibly even to the level of PED’s…so you are right we need to boot him out of the HOF. Although I’m confused I see his position listed as C and he seems awfully tall to be a catcher
Not sure any studies have been done in that particular area of “training”. I know some speculate that such activity before workouts may boost Testosterone levels, and thus be helpful in building muscle, but even if that is true I would think that there would be a point at which too much would begin reversing the affect.
not seriously PT, just trying to get a “go to hell nolie” or some other such response. Good trainers are indeed an important asset to any athletic endeavor.
The Braves had a pretty tall catcher at one time. Not that tall, but tall for a catcher. What was his name, nolie? Earl Williams comes to mind, but I am not sure that is correct. Kind of foggy again tonight. I had to spend 4 hrs in the emergency room with my father tonight so I don’t feel very sharp.
I agree JC. I hope Sherrill will be more consistent by the time the season gets here or soon after it starts. He could be important for the Braves this year.

Javy was fairly tall too for a catcher, as was Salty .Williams was about 6′3″ or 6′4″ too IIRC.
In my day @ 6′2″ I was tall for a catcher. Those guys were often well under 6′ for the most part back then.
The saying is “opposites attract”, not that my parents are opposites in general, they are very much alike in many ways, but my mother is warm natured, my father is cold natured. And… my mother has a high threshold of pain…. my daddy is a wimp. So we have much to look forward to. lol

It makes that 100 point game even harder to imagine. Why didn’t the other team just foul the guy?! But even so, scoring 100 points when you only hit half of your free throws is hard to imagine.
