“Its a shame Medlen got hurt, can you imagine what our rotation would look like with him at #5, he was 5-0 when he went down, could have finished with maybe 12 wins, he was on pace & regarded ahead of Hanson when he came up, oh what could have been!!!!!!! Go Bravos Ugga Ugga”
Medlen has never been more highly regarded than Hanson. Though what a feather in the cap to know that with our current pitching staff, and our slew of top flight pitching in minors, that we have this guy waiting to return from IR. Man its a good time to be a Braves fan.

Tommy Hanson looks awesome. This kid is going to win a Cy Young.
I still predict Atlanta is going to win the NL East this season. They’re pitching is just as good as the Phillies without all the high paid staff of Oswalt, Halladay, Lee and Hamels.

All that would mean is you would have a s*itload of Braves fan on this blog complaining over trading away starting pitching – because that’s exatly what would have happened if Medlen didn’t have Tommy John and was healthy following his campaign last year.
Braves wouldn’t be keeping Minor, Beachy in addition to all of their other pitching prospects in AA and AA ball.

Heyward also had back problems in minors.
He is simply injury prone and probably always will be.
You can tell about these cases because of his youth.
With this many problems the last few years at such a young age, it
doesn’t bode well for Jason playing full seasons without missing 15 plus games.
I hate it, but it’s an educated guess. BTW, I don’t care he misses spring games, he
just has too many aggravating injuries that will always affect him.

Steve, I definitely agree we are going to win the NL east. I don’t agree that we would have traded pitching, even if Medlen was healthy. I think we would see Minor and Beachy pitching in the minors again this year, and look to bring them up if/when a spot opened.
Now, if by the all star break we are making a good run (which I’m sure we will be), and we have some glaring weakness that needs to be addressed, perhaps then pitching would have been traded. But I think that will happen with or without Medlen.

You know, it must suck working for the Phillies front office these days…looking at your team that was supposed to win it all for several years and knowing that its circling the drain here in 2011 before the season even begins, and knowing also that its just gonna get worse each year for the next decade or so lol.
Granted, things can always change, but it certainly seems like the Braves are surpassing the Phillies as we speak.

These guys are competing for jobs. That’s why they’re playing various positions. Mather is likely to make the club, and they want to see him play CF to know how solid a backup he’d be out there.

Finally had a chance to read the actual blog. Good read and glad to hear that Medlen is holding up.
It also makes you appreciate Tommy John, who had to go through this surgery and rehab all by himself. At the time, blowing out the ligament was a guaranteed career ender. TJ did the surgery and the rehab fighting against the head-winds of the nay-sayers at the time.
“Cut Tommy! He’ll never pitch again.”
Well, TJ showed ‘em.

AT, I really think it’s just GameDay. So slow sometimes and other times it seems to be pretty good. But I know when I had the game on in the car, Tommy got behind 3-0 on one Sox batter. Not sure who it was, but I figured he had thrown more than one ball.

Here at Disney, ballpark in-game entertainment people just started playing “Sweet Caroline” between innings, and the many BoSox fans — and there are a LOT of them here — got excited. Then after about 5-10 seconds they switched the song to “Thank God I’m A Country Boy.” Those crazy in-game entertainment folks. Wacky.
