Arkansas Transplant, March 16th, 2011, 1:41 pm … “abwright, good thing you padded your numbers with those PEP’s. You barely made the list.”

I was thinking the same thing. I also got a last post after the new bloggage.

Errm … I mean, I’ve never used PEP’s and if I did it’s someone else’s fault.

Its a shame Medlen got hurt, can you imagine what our rotation would look like with him at #5, he was 5-0 when he went down, could have finished with maybe 12 wins, he was on pace & regarded ahead of Hanson when he came up, oh what could have been!!!!!!! Go Bravos Ugga Ugga

“telegraphic” Hmmm Must be nice to tell the batter what you are going to throw and still get them out.

Just goes to show that hitting really is really, really hard. :-)

A quick BBQ shout out to Billy Jack’s Barbecue & Shrimp Co,

We see them post on the DOB site, their BBQ is also quite good! A great mustard based sauce, great sides (love the beans and Brunswick Stew)

And the shrimp is wonderful as well.

If you are looking for BBQ at Howell Mill ITP, give Bill Jacks a try, it is good stuff!

In regards to Brooks Conrad, if Bobby Cox was still here, I would say that Conrad would have to slap Wren to lose his job. But, there’s a new sheriff in town and Conrad has not shown anything this spring. He has been soundly outplayed by both Diory and Lucas and at some point, spring training has to mean something to these kids who are trying to making the team. As for Mather, I put him in the same boat as Schafer. He is supposed to be healthy, but he isn’t showing the ability that he is believed to have. No Ramirez hasn’t proven himself to be anything other than a career minor leaguer, but at some point, lets take a chance and see what happens. Waive Mather. It’s not like the team will lose anything by dumping him. Go with Young, Ramirez, Diory, Lucas, and Hinske and see how it all pans out. Opinions are something aren’t they?

I’m not a huge fan of the loyalty game in sports. After what Conrad went through last year, the errors are going to be extremely hard to over-come. I can see him really struggling this season and Wren will look back on this mistake knowing it was right in front of him to part ways.

I can understand about Chipper. I do joke and call him the glassman, but he’s been playing this game hard for many years. His baseball body is almost 39 and nagging injuries are going to happen….Heyward, on the other hand, is a very young man in good condition. If Heyward is this oft injured at his young age, what’s going to happen when he gets into his 30s, provided he makes it that far?

DOB really does a good job announcing. I bet most of y’all didn’t know he works part time at ESPN too.
Here’s some of his accolades according to Wikipedia.

From 1987 to 1992 he called play-by-play for Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves as well as college football and basketball games for Georgia and Miami, garnering the Georgia Associated Press’ “Best Sports Play-by-Play” accolade in 1988 and 1991. O’Brien then broadcast for the Florida Marlins from the team’s inaugural year in 1993 through 2001, including their first World Series win in 1997.

I don’t know how he does one job much less two.

anyone find it interesting Wren being so sure to say Heyward is just ’sore’ and everyone is ’sore’ etc. Yet the 39 year old coming off knee surgery has played very regular all spring training so far? I think there’s some smoke screen goin on with Heyward. I’m not saying it is serious, but back twinges this early for a 21 year old doesn’t bode well.
