Not that I have any intention of revisiting a certain argument, but I’m sure RG was pleased to see respected blog expert Don come to her defense this morning…
Of course. You should move to Atlanta. We have the Braves, country music, Waffle House, and lots of coke.
March 1st, 20111:56 pm

…err, Coca-Cola, that is.

ST baseball is great
maybe 2 commercials btn innings
But no ocean or USC football (the real USC, not South Carolina! )
with all the tv and radio ads you hear during ball games someone needs tos sponsor the can of corn out during a game. Maybe a different local farmer each game or something….
When was this?
March 1st, 20111:57 pm
I perfer Chattanooga Moonpies….
Probably 8:00 – 9:00 your time…

The ocean isn’t too far away. And trust me, USC is everywhere…

I’m pulling for Nate…In case you fans didn’t hear about it… Mark Wohlers house burn to ground last night. His wife got everyone up and out. Lost everything.
Yeah but it might be hard to attend USC games from there

We should start a Drive for the Wohlers family call it the closers drive or something..
March 1st, 20112:00 pm
2down lee on first
That’s really sad about Mark Wohler’s house. Just thankful he and his family made it out safe and sound.
March 1st, 20112:01 pm
That’s just the price you have to pay to live around cooler people.
March 1st, 20112:02 pm
groundout ends the 4th
a lot closer to Williamsburg…
But maybe I’d rather hang with dorks and watch my Trojans in person… Besides, don’t you live like 2 hours from Atlanta??
March 1st, 20112:05 pm
Oh, come on, cabravesfan, don’t you want to come hang with all us local Braves fans? Much cooler than USC

Chris Carpenter was helped off the field with a leg injury. Cards might get desperate for some pitching.
Is it still 1-0 Braves leading?
Did you mean Robert? I did see that one…
Transplant – Don’t know if it’s here yet or not – we got stuck coming up the drive and are getting pulled out now so they can plow it. If it isn’t there today, might not get it until Saturday.

Besides, don’t you live like 2 hours from Atlanta??
Nope. My permanent residence is one of the places covered by the AJC. 20 minutes away from the Ted. Besides, Rome isn’t 2 hours away either. It’s like an hour on a good day…but I won’t be here much longer anyways.
March 1st, 20112:08 pm
I do! Just not sure if I could do it permanently- I’m a 100% SoCal girl

Sad and ironic about Mark Wohler’s home.
As he was our best fireman for several years.
(Old term for closer for the youngin’s).
Seems Hanson pitched well for his two innings. Yeah man.
March 1st, 20112:10 pm
Garret Anderson is retiring? A few years late if you ask me, but better late than never.
You say “one of the places covered by the AJC” like I would have any idea where those places are…
March 1st, 20112:11 pm
RG – I remembered Robert, but I thought Don did also – went back and looked and don’t see anything – it was when I first got up at 6:45, so I might have been hallucinating…
cab, I was 100% Florida girl when I moved up in 1992. I am now a full-fledged GA peach Of course, I 20 when I moved up, so I kinda grew up here. There are things I miss about FL (Spring Training for instance), but I love it here.

Now there’s some useless information lol
Brandon Beechy,KK,Brandon Hicks to cards for Cody Rasmus,
Rembere we tried to get Ross from Marlins and he went on to lead the giants to WS championship… just saying..
March 1st, 20112:13 pm
Chris Carpenter was helped off the field with a leg injury. Cards might get desperate for some pitching.
woah, you are kidding. that really sucks for them. weve still got KK!
Great piece here by Joe Posnanski about contrasting characteristics of Jeff Francoeur: http://joeposnanski.si.com/2011/03/01/frenchy-and-hope/
Joe says, “He is the most joyous guy out there” and “He is a corner outfielder who has proven — unquestionably and repeatedly — that he cannot hit well enough to be a regular in the Major Leagues.”
Yeah, but at least Florida is on the same side of the country…I mean, you people don’t even have Tri-Tip! Or real Mexican food
fly out to center
March 1st, 20112:14 pm
Braves Fan in Missouri:
Are you blowing smoke with the Carpenter comment? or is that factual?
That would be a huge blow for the cards…
For someone who says he’s not going to spend a lot of time on the blog, Tom O’Hawke sure posts a lot…
March 1st, 20112:15 pm
Your not a stats person are you?
March 1st, 20112:16 pm
True, cab, I’ll give you that the Mexican food is 100% better in CA than GA But think of it like this, for the $800K you spend for a decent place in most places in CA, you can get a McMansion here for the same money
wow- sounds like the Mets financial issues are worse then (at least) I thought…
quintero (sp) up again and k’s looking
end of 5 innings. braves have top of order to start the 6th
Just a little
March 1st, 20112:17 pm
Hey, I did acknowledge that it was much cheaper to live there!
March 1st, 20112:18 pm
#20! I’ll take that. It shows I’m involved while still having a life outside of the blog.
March 1st, 20112:19 pm
Ehh, I’m pretty sure we have real Mexican food. I think it’s just a matter of knowing where to find it.
Braves up 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th?
March 1st, 20112:20 pm
This after Chris Carpenter said he would waive his no-trade clause…according to the St Louis Post-Dispatch.
Don’t know what the two events mean…but kinda weird.
I thing Big Ward and little ward need to be combined…interesting that he is separated from himself by only 10 posts…
Hey, I finally made a list
March 1st, 20112:21 pm
It was on the radio (ESPN station) at lunch. They are thinking its a hamstring.
Brave4life-1995 all over again??
Surprised didn’t make the last
JS up again
bunts foul, making that one bunt att in each game so far…gotta like that. then lines one foul. sounds like he’s on it so far this spring
then he grounds out fot the first out
Get out the red carpet, Im B-A-C-K!!!!!!
According to the Cards board, Carpenter was nothing serious. He stayed in the dugout for the rest of the inning and then went into the locker room.
March 1st, 20112:22 pm
This after Chris Carpenter said he would waive his no-trade clause…
Hmm, wouldn’t think the Cards would be looking to get rid of pitching…unless they’re thinking about blowing it up and rebuilding.
March 1st, 20112:23 pm
I think it’s more trying to find a way to pay Albert…
ummm…someone just grounded out to first…might have been nate
March 1st, 20112:24 pm
Wow, didn’t even make the top 100 for the year so far. Guess my decision to avoid the pessimists and the trolls is taking its toll.
hoss grounds out to third
Shaun, Good article. I’m not sure that he is a bad of player as the writer makes him out to be. He might still develop into a decent player but he just got labeled as a star before he was ready. I hope he makes it in KC.
If Carpenter was shot in the leg the Cards wouldnt admit it was serious till after the trade offers were in..
March 1st, 20112:25 pm
moving on to the bottom of the 6th
rob from sc
Does Marek have a legit chance to make the team or are we looking for long man
Personally, I’d prefer for Hoss, not to “tear” ANYthing. Good or bad, it makes the heart skip to see that word anywhere near his name.
March 1st, 20112:26 pm
From the STL Post-Dispatch concerning Carpenter:
“JUPITER, Fla. — Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter walked off the mound with two outs in the third inning today after sustaining an apparent injury, although he didn’t seem to be in serious discomfort.
Head athletic trainer Greg Hauck approached the mound, with manager Tony La Russa not far behind and Carpenter departed without much discussion, having already thrown 32 pitches against the Florida Marlins.
Carpenter, who fanned two, walked one and gave up one hit in 2 2/3 scoreless innings, likely was going to face only one more hitter anyway.
The 35-year-old Carpenter is the probable Opening Day starter for the Cardinals, who already have lost co-ace Adam Wainwright for the season with Tommy John elbow surgery.”
Wait, Nate grounded out? Someone call in the sports psychologist before he spirals out of control!
March 1st, 20112:27 pm
Where’s everyone from? Auburn, Ala. here
March 1st, 20112:28 pm
broadway into pitch
whoever was up for stros pops out
I think Jeff Francouer would have a better chance if he would have taken his demotion to the minors as a learning experience. He looks great when someone throws him a strike…the problem is nobody has a reason to throw a strike. He is a good athlete but not sure if he will ever be a good ballplayer. I still root for him but glad we got other people in the outfield
March 1st, 20112:29 pm
CF pops up to heyward
March 1st, 20112:30 pm
Chipper Jones finished the day 0-for-3 with three groundouts….the first one was hit hard, into a DP as i mentioned but other two not so much.
So hm, there’s a pop-up to deep right by Jason Bourgeois….Brooks Conrad is going out, Jason Heyward is coming in…Heyward calls off Conrad, makes the play. …Isn’t that what should have happened last October vs. the Giants?…..Course Heyward had just crashed into the wall the previous pitch….Just sayin.
broadway strikes out barmes lookin to end the 6th

Alright, Top of the 7th coming up.
Who do we have coming to the plate?
George Sherrill may struggle against the righties, but hopefully he can at least put a few of the Phillies’ lefties away.
March 1st, 20112:35 pm
That’s a rope to left center by Heyward for a single. He’s 2-for-3 with three balls smoked today.
Yeah, but without Carpenter and Wainwright, they’d basically be giving up for this season.
And he’s got a $1M buyout next year, so it’s not like he’s going to cost him a lot next year. The only thing I can think is if they know they can’t afford to re-sign him and would be asking for inexpensive young talent in return. But I would think only a team that feels he could put them over the top this year would be willing to give that in return.
i think he’s got a shot, Rob from SC
March 1st, 20112:36 pm
I agree- I was a bit surprised when I saw the Cards were even considering trading Carpenter, but what do I know?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
