Don’t worry about it…no need…
I can’t honestly say I’ve had anything shipped to me from that area of the country…I think NY and NJ are the furthest north and to the eastern coast as I’ve received anything…
March 2nd, 201110:04 am
Any bets on who will be the ace of the club this year? I’m going with Hanson. I think he’ll begin to put everything together and find that consistency that was alluding him last year.
March 2nd, 201110:06 am
P-T, got any work going on there this morning? meetings?
ArkTran…It’s hard to bet against Huddy. But I too think Hanson & JJ will turn some heads this year
March 2nd, 201110:07 am
PTown – I’ve never had trouble with Priority Mail. The Post Office is notorious for taking circuitous routes to get to their elbow, so maybe that’s what it is.
We used to live about 30 blocks from the Electric Company in ST. Pete, yet the P.O. would ship all the mail across the Bay to Tampa and then send it back over for delivery. Never figured out why.
Ralighbraves – I appreciate it. Transplant sent me a lot of grits and I even had someone send me Black Eyed peas (I can get them up here now) and DBack Mac (where is he these days?) sent me some homemade wine and some veggies he canned. Good stuff and definitely appreciated.
I usually send out a couple gallons of the best Maple Syrup that there is every year – comes from trees here in town and I can get it within days of the Dude tapping his trees..
March 2nd, 201110:08 am
I still gotta go w/ Huddy…not sure anyone takes the crown away from him til he’s gone…
Then again, Lowe really showed me something the last couple months and then his two starts in the playoffs, which if we had scored any runs for him whatsoever, he wins both…
Nice to have things so wide open like this, instead of, well, who’s gonna suck less, JoJo, Buddy, Jorge, or Charlie…
March 2nd, 201110:09 am
I really think with the offense the Braves have that both Huddy and Hanson will be close to 20 wins this year. I think Hanson’s luck will turn around as far as getting run support…the Braves owe it to him after last year.
March 2nd, 201110:10 am
Why is it that you know just how to get me all hungry…
Other day you guys were talkin about your great BBQ sauce….now talkin about Maple Syrup…
And here I am w/ only a powerbar, some chocolate, honey roasted peanuts, and a can of root beer at my disposal :-/
March 2nd, 201110:11 am
Yeah, just working on a proposal for a project in between talking to you guys…
What are you getting from Lew? Is it some kind of painting or picture? What was the Braves fan facebook discussion? I’m too lazy to go back and read.
Lew, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen a tree get tapped for syrup.
Well, after a couple of Spring Games (huge sample size early on, I realize, but nonetheless), taking into consideration Nate’s work so far, Freeman’s hot bat, Dominic Brown’s struggles, Utley’s knee issues and Lee’s Lat strain, does it look more to y’all that the Braves might well contend closely for the Division lead? Or are we still standing on the ledge close to yelling “Ballgame”?
March 2nd, 201110:12 am
Yeah, its always one guy each year…it was Jurrjens 2 years ago and last year it was Hanson….
So who gets the no run support collar this year?
Karma would say it should be DLowe…
Everyone seemed to be having a FB discussion last night about adding people from the blog and I realized I don’t have any blog friends on my FB
March 2nd, 201110:13 am
Transplant – Not surprising – Maple sugar – kind of like apples – need a certain amount of cold for it to be good. Most southern states (minus maybe the NC mountains) don’t get the requisite cold for it to work well.
March 2nd, 201110:15 am
Bravepack – A Prado drawing for PTown to get signed at ST. I should have had it done for him last spring, but it kind of got shoved under the rug..
March 2nd, 201110:16 am
Just about to have to get on the morning conference call. Oh joy!!
March 2nd, 201110:17 am
you live in card territory right?
what is the pulse on whats going on? anything different than what the major media outlets are reporting? -Fargo
From most of the comments I’ve read or heard, Card fans are practically giving up on this season. And of course they are throwing in the obligatory cheap shot toward the Cubs on their way down Dejection Blvd(because that’s what they do best.)
March 2nd, 201110:18 am
I don’t get on FB much but I am on one of the Braves FB pages. Don’t know if it’s the same as the one you guys are talking about.
March 2nd, 201110:19 am
No, it was talking about adding people as your friends on FB…so like me adding you and stuff…
March 2nd, 201110:22 am
You need any rope
March 2nd, 201110:23 am
I take it you’re an artist? Are the drawings you do action shots in color? Really nice you do that for fellow Braves fans and you can be proud that your drawings will be displayed for people to admire for many years.
March 2nd, 201110:24 am
Lew, I have had some superb maple syrup from the Burlington, VT area. But it was not as fresh as you mention. I could only imagine…
What area you reign from?
March 2nd, 201110:27 am
So is Prado your favorite Brave or just figured it would be someone different to sign a drawing made by Lew?
Yeah I assume people had to give up their identity to become facebook friends?
March 2nd, 201110:28 am
I’m still not having much luck with the pitching aspect of MLB The Show, although I didn’t strikeout as much lastnight.
March 2nd, 201110:31 am
Yeah, they kinda do, but I guess in a sense there are at least a few people on here that know me, given Lew has sent me a package and AT has my email address…
And yes, anyone who has been around for some time knows that I have been a big supporter of Prado all the way back to his AA ball days.
I’d say I have a current top 5 though…
Prado, Medlen, JHey, Huddy, and Nate… w/ Uggs and Minor possibly sneaking their way in this year…
Just got my Uggla shirt UPS on Monday evening in fact
“I have always liked to think if every thing else is equal and your team is in better shape, you should win”
That works in baseball too (but dont tell Chipper, he’ll tell you to kiss his behind)
March 2nd, 201110:33 am
He signed my Marteeeeen shirt last year! Super nice guy.
March 2nd, 201110:38 am
We had an Earthquake hit here over the weekend. The son came running out of his room asking if we felt the house shake.
March 2nd, 201110:40 am
Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you to stop what you’re doing… and listen.
So since I saw your name come up when I was flipping through the FB discussion, what was that all about?
My assumption was that it was people on the blog adding each other as friends…
Mark Teixeira drops Scott Boras
March 2nd, 201110:43 am
P-Town – I was already fb friends with the people that were trying to locate and add each other so they were pretty much trying to find each other using my wall.
March 2nd, 201110:48 am
We’ve had more than 800 quakes since September. The one that hit Sunday night was a 4.7 which was the largest quake in the state over the last 35 years.
March 2nd, 201110:50 am
Lew… the Cards are hurting. NL Central is a weak division. I’m with you. The The Brewers are emerging as the best of the Central’s lot.
For those at work who are allowed – http://espn.go.com/espn3/index – Braves game will be on espn3.com
March 2nd, 201110:51 am
TheManMike – Thanks for the link
March 2nd, 201110:53 am
jeff r the Cards are hurting. NL Central is a weak division. I’m with you. The The Brewers are emerging as the best of the Central’s lot.
better than the reds, you think?
March 2nd, 201110:54 am
Yessir. My 1 yr old has been listening to the spring games on the radio with me – I’m excited to see his reaction to watching it. Newest little Bravos fan in the works….
March 2nd, 201110:55 am
BravePack – Yes, I’m an artist. You can see my Braves’ art on my site — LewHartman.com
I’ve been giving away Braves’ art (The Wurlitzers) for almost seven seasons now. Just something I enjoy doing.
I got me a couple write ups in the Lately Lamented Chop Talk and got me the chance to do a portrait presentation to Bobby Cox last spring – something almost everyone but Robert would have enjoyed.
March 2nd, 201110:56 am
Yeah, I guess that wouldn’t help me either way as I don’t have anyone on here on my FB…
March 2nd, 201110:57 am
Fargo – I’m in Central Vermont, about an hour SE of Burlington. The Green Mountains are the backdrop to my back yard.
“does it look more to y’all that the Braves might well contend closely for the Division lead? ”
Ridiculous to even be thinking about such stuff at this stage
Talk to me at the end of May
March 2nd, 201110:58 am
P-Town Brave and/or Soph:
Where and when is the best time to obtain autographs at Spring Training? By the batting cages before the game begins? Inside the “stadium”? After the games? Thanks in advance for your advice.
March 2nd, 201110:59 am
Yeah, like you’ll change your opinion by May.
March 2nd, 201111:01 am
Now why in the world would anyone want to talk to YOU about that?!
Love your work Lew!
what is with the token McClung drawing? There has to be story behind that…
March 2nd, 201111:03 am
P-Town – I’m sure you know Lew’s real name since he mails you things. If you can find him on fb, I’m pretty sure most on here are friends with him. If you’re feeling brave, you can post something on DOB’s fb page and people will add you. You may get a few crazies too though.
March 2nd, 201111:04 am
Fargo – I used to live in St. Pete, Fl. My Former Doctor (and still a good friend) is Seth’s next door neighbor. Seth commissioned me to do some art for him – that’s one piece on the site.
Got taken out to lunch and comped tickets at Fenway – saw Schilling win his 200th game with Seth as the losing pitcher.
Seth is a really good Dude and I hope he sticks with the Rangers this year.
March 2nd, 201111:06 am
Yeah, problem w/ that is I only know people by their blog handles…so it’d be hard to distinguish who to accept and who to ignore…
I know for sure I’m probably ignoring any guys named Paul, Don, or Robert
March 2nd, 201111:07 am
Were taking on the Sox today alright!!!
March 2nd, 201111:09 am
Soph – Who’s the crazies? Any heads up?
Who is that a portrait of on your FB?
DOB, Do you think Hanson’s fastball is just not quite dynamic enough for him to be the truly dominant top of the order pitcher we all hoped he’d be ? — A-Ville Ranger
No, I don’t think that. He throws plenty hard enough, with good movement on his fastball. Especially considering the quality of his other pitches.
March 2nd, 201111:10 am
Yeah, I became a big fan of Seth when he was in Milwaukee. I think he pitched a gem against the Braves, and looked really impressive.
March 2nd, 201111:11 am
It wouldn’t do me much good to add anyone on FB. I usually only get on FB about once every few months. I’m not a big FBer, just don’t have the time to add more social networking to my life.
Read my 11:06…that should explain it…
PTown – That’s DOB’s (the First) Wurlitzer of Johnny Cash.
Fargo – Strangely enough, it was a portrait of Peggy Fleming I got signed for my Doctor that got me the commission from Seth.
Who’s the crazies?
March 2nd, 201111:13 am
Tells you how little I know about Johnny Cash…
Then again my phone doesn’t show very good thumbnail pics…
I thought it was Andy Rooney
What in the world? Aville thinks Hanson’s fastball is substandard and UGABrave claims he needs an out pitch.
Not too sure what more a kid like Tommy has to do to convince people he’s a top talent.
HAHA…clever TRaDeMaN….good stuff
Whoa Whoa Whoa…
You can’t do that!
everyone see schultzies blog on KK http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/2011/03/02/kawakami-arrives-at-braves-camp-and-why-is-he-here/
im ready to get rid of him!!!!!!!
Arky – yup, pretty much what P-Town summarized in his 11:06. You’ll get some random folks adding you too.
March 2nd, 201111:14 am
1. Prado (LF)
2. Schafer (CF)
3. Heyward (RF)
4. Uggla (2B)
5. Hinske (DH)
6. Gonzo (SS)
7. Freeman (1B)
8. Ross (C)
9. Lucas (3B)
PTown – Andy Rooney? Careful Dude. DOB will (as THawkin would say) Bozo your skinny butt.
CraZy dropping the crazy.
Lew – that’s pretty much why I can’t root against Lee, he’s a very good guy. My cousin takes care of his house while he’s away, not to mention, gets to take advantage of his entertainment center with all that it details.
March 2nd, 201111:15 am
What is the point to adding fellow bloggers to FB? Isn’t this blog already an avenue to socially network with?
DOB: so are you at dark star today while carroll hits the road??
I remember pictures from last year with your Bobby Cox drawing and I really have to say it was a beautiful piece…great work. I’m gonna go on your site and check out your other work.
March 2nd, 201111:16 am
Yeah, so now that we’re talkin about it, I think you should add me on FB, well, once Lew accepts my invite…
And Lew, yeah, because nothing says intimacy and loving like a triple lutz
I have a feeling someone is hammering out a new blog for us.
March 2nd, 201111:17 am
Yeah, but I drop a lot on FB as well, and it’ll give me the ability to share my pics when I go to FL and STL and other places w/ my blog friends that normally I wouldn’t be able to do…
Thanks Murph….but just for good measure, Braves lineup:Braves lineup: 1. Prado LF, 2. Schafer CF, 3. Heyward RF, 4. Uggla 2B, 5. Hinske DH, 6. Gonzo SS, 7. Freeman 1B, 8. Ross C, 9. Lucas 3B
pitching today: Hudson, Kimbrel, Proctor, Martinez, Varvaro, Vizcaino…..So Vizcaino is listed on the Braves notes as seeing action today. So guess he won’t have to wait until split squad….
I’ve arrived in Ft. Myers. You are covered!
March 2nd, 201111:18 am
Crazy and PTown – You’ve been confirmed as friends.
I never really though that a LOF like me would ever find anything worthwhile on FB, but I’m liking it. Get tot alk to friends much more than I ordinarily would, but also have reconnected with all my old Fantasy artist friends and they continually post hundreds of great pieces of art on a daily basis. Even have friends in Ireland now and have been getting lots of great Irish art, too..
Any chance you can get him to wax the floor a bit extra
March 2nd, 201111:19 am
Bravepack – Check out the deer paintings now hanging at the Larry Wayne Jones, Jr. household while you’re there.
March 2nd, 201111:20 am
To all you FB folks … I remember that there was a DOB facebook page; however, there are a few Braves pages. Could someone post a link to the DOB page, please?
March 2nd, 201111:22 am
Your cousin just recorded fastest hundred in cricket world cup history. Ireland’s giving real scare to the English. Hope they win and score the massive upset.
PTown – I’ve also done plenty of Olympic Gymnastics and swimming portraits – and LOTS of footbal paintings for the Bucs back in the late 80’s (when they were terrible). I think the total is in the fifties of players in MLB and the NFL who own my art.
Lots of Rock and Roll stuff, too – sold a painting to Steve Tyler and Clapton signed one for me.
Thanks for the lineup Carroll.
March 2nd, 201111:23 am
Good point! I do wish we could share more photos and such of our experiences
March 2nd, 201111:24 am
Fo’ sho, P-Town. Gonna try to figure out which one you are since Lew added a few people.
Really…so did you get to meet Steven Tyler then?
March 2nd, 201111:25 am
You’ll probably have to copy and paste the link into your browser though.
Should be fairly easy…
I’m the one w/ the hometown that starts w/ a P
March 2nd, 201111:26 am
Each day on the pitching list I find myself not knowing a pitcher or two. Im enjoying hearing the new names. Today who is varvaro??
Im excited to see how Vizcaino performs!!!!!
March 2nd, 201111:27 am
Soph – I just sent you a FB message. That will take care of the confusion on who PTown really is.
Prado had me fooled because I’ll admit when I first saw him I thought he was a good bench player , nothing more. Man was I wrong about him and I’m glad because he is an all-star and team player who keeps the clubhouse loose. Yeah I got my Uggla player t-shirt a couple weeks ago, already wore it poudly a couple times around the Chicagoland area. My top 5 in no particular order are: Uggla, Heyward, Chipper, BMac, and Huddy.
March 2nd, 201111:28 am
“Yeah, like you’ll change your opinion by May.”
50 or so games in we’ll have sufficient data and trend information to be able to say who is and isnt really competative
Trying to project who is or isnt gonna be in the hunt because of which AAA prospect hit or whiffed off a AAA pitcher in the first two games of the spring is just dumb
PTown – Yeah, he took me to the dressing room to get cash for the art work. Put his hand on my shoulder and told me how nice it was to be high on life instead of drugs. Yeah.
Looking through my own FB page though, I realized that I really need to update a few sections like music, tv, movies, and such…
March 2nd, 201111:29 am
P-Town – done.
AT … I just read an article about how disposal of hydraulic fracturing waste water may be contributing to increase in earthquake activity. As usual with all environmental science, a lot of speculation and not much data.
On the other hand, the New Madrid fault is over-due to pop. The stuff up in GreenBriar could be a precursor to a big earth quake.
For those of you who have never heard of the New Madrid fault, the last time it popped in 1812, it (allegedly) caused the Mississippi River to run backwards, and it did change the course of the Mississippi.
As usual, Robert, you missed the point I was making – about how quickly misconceptions could be proved wrong. It really had nothing at all to do with reality, just the fickleness of expectation.
March 2nd, 201111:30 am
Wow, that must have been such a great experience…absolutely LOVE Aerosmith!
How long does it take you to knock out a wildlife drawing?
Do you do this for a hobby or living?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
