I can’t honestly say I’ve had anything shipped to me from that area of the country…I think NY and NJ are the furthest north and to the eastern coast as I’ve received anything…
Any bets on who will be the ace of the club this year? I’m going with Hanson. I think he’ll begin to put everything together and find that consistency that was alluding him last year.
PTown – I’ve never had trouble with Priority Mail. The Post Office is notorious for taking circuitous routes to get to their elbow, so maybe that’s what it is.
We used to live about 30 blocks from the Electric Company in ST. Pete, yet the P.O. would ship all the mail across the Bay to Tampa and then send it back over for delivery. Never figured out why.
Ralighbraves – I appreciate it. Transplant sent me a lot of grits and I even had someone send me Black Eyed peas (I can get them up here now) and DBack Mac (where is he these days?) sent me some homemade wine and some veggies he canned. Good stuff and definitely appreciated.
I usually send out a couple gallons of the best Maple Syrup that there is every year – comes from trees here in town and I can get it within days of the Dude tapping his trees..
I still gotta go w/ Huddy…not sure anyone takes the crown away from him til he’s gone…
Then again, Lowe really showed me something the last couple months and then his two starts in the playoffs, which if we had scored any runs for him whatsoever, he wins both…
Nice to have things so wide open like this, instead of, well, who’s gonna suck less, JoJo, Buddy, Jorge, or Charlie…
I really think with the offense the Braves have that both Huddy and Hanson will be close to 20 wins this year. I think Hanson’s luck will turn around as far as getting run support…the Braves owe it to him after last year.
Well, after a couple of Spring Games (huge sample size early on, I realize, but nonetheless), taking into consideration Nate’s work so far, Freeman’s hot bat, Dominic Brown’s struggles, Utley’s knee issues and Lee’s Lat strain, does it look more to y’all that the Braves might well contend closely for the Division lead? Or are we still standing on the ledge close to yelling “Ballgame”?
Transplant – Not surprising – Maple sugar – kind of like apples – need a certain amount of cold for it to be good. Most southern states (minus maybe the NC mountains) don’t get the requisite cold for it to work well.
you live in card territory right?
what is the pulse on whats going on? anything different than what the major media outlets are reporting? -Fargo
From most of the comments I’ve read or heard, Card fans are practically giving up on this season. And of course they are throwing in the obligatory cheap shot toward the Cubs on their way down Dejection Blvd(because that’s what they do best.)
I take it you’re an artist? Are the drawings you do action shots in color? Really nice you do that for fellow Braves fans and you can be proud that your drawings will be displayed for people to admire for many years.
Lew, I have had some superb maple syrup from the Burlington, VT area. But it was not as fresh as you mention. I could only imagine…

Yeah, they kinda do, but I guess in a sense there are at least a few people on here that know me, given Lew has sent me a package and AT has my email address…

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you to stop what you’re doing… and listen.
P-Town – I was already fb friends with the people that were trying to locate and add each other so they were pretty much trying to find each other using my wall.
We’ve had more than 800 quakes since September. The one that hit Sunday night was a 4.7 which was the largest quake in the state over the last 35 years.
Yessir. My 1 yr old has been listening to the spring games on the radio with me – I’m excited to see his reaction to watching it. Newest little Bravos fan in the works….

I’ve been giving away Braves’ art (The Wurlitzers) for almost seven seasons now. Just something I enjoy doing.
I got me a couple write ups in the Lately Lamented Chop Talk and got me the chance to do a portrait presentation to Bobby Cox last spring – something almost everyone but Robert would have enjoyed.
Where and when is the best time to obtain autographs at Spring Training? By the batting cages before the game begins? Inside the “stadium”? After the games? Thanks in advance for your advice.
P-Town – I’m sure you know Lew’s real name since he mails you things. If you can find him on fb, I’m pretty sure most on here are friends with him. If you’re feeling brave, you can post something on DOB’s fb page and people will add you. You may get a few crazies too though.
Fargo – I used to live in St. Pete, Fl. My Former Doctor (and still a good friend) is Seth’s next door neighbor. Seth commissioned me to do some art for him – that’s one piece on the site.
Got taken out to lunch and comped tickets at Fenway – saw Schilling win his 200th game with Seth as the losing pitcher.
Seth is a really good Dude and I hope he sticks with the Rangers this year.
DOB, Do you think Hanson’s fastball is just not quite dynamic enough for him to be the truly dominant top of the order pitcher we all hoped he’d be ? — A-Ville Ranger
No, I don’t think that. He throws plenty hard enough, with good movement on his fastball. Especially considering the quality of his other pitches.
It wouldn’t do me much good to add anyone on FB. I usually only get on FB about once every few months. I’m not a big FBer, just don’t have the time to add more social networking to my life.
Lew – that’s pretty much why I can’t root against Lee, he’s a very good guy. My cousin takes care of his house while he’s away, not to mention, gets to take advantage of his entertainment center with all that it details.
I remember pictures from last year with your Bobby Cox drawing and I really have to say it was a beautiful piece…great work. I’m gonna go on your site and check out your other work.
Yeah, but I drop a lot on FB as well, and it’ll give me the ability to share my pics when I go to FL and STL and other places w/ my blog friends that normally I wouldn’t be able to do…
Thanks Murph….but just for good measure, Braves lineup:Braves lineup: 1. Prado LF, 2. Schafer CF, 3. Heyward RF, 4. Uggla 2B, 5. Hinske DH, 6. Gonzo SS, 7. Freeman 1B, 8. Ross C, 9. Lucas 3B
pitching today: Hudson, Kimbrel, Proctor, Martinez, Varvaro, Vizcaino…..So Vizcaino is listed on the Braves notes as seeing action today. So guess he won’t have to wait until split squad….
Crazy and PTown – You’ve been confirmed as friends.
I never really though that a LOF like me would ever find anything worthwhile on FB, but I’m liking it. Get tot alk to friends much more than I ordinarily would, but also have reconnected with all my old Fantasy artist friends and they continually post hundreds of great pieces of art on a daily basis. Even have friends in Ireland now and have been getting lots of great Irish art, too..
To all you FB folks … I remember that there was a DOB facebook page; however, there are a few Braves pages. Could someone post a link to the DOB page, please?
Your cousin just recorded fastest hundred in cricket world cup history. Ireland’s giving real scare to the English. Hope they win and score the massive upset.
PTown – I’ve also done plenty of Olympic Gymnastics and swimming portraits – and LOTS of footbal paintings for the Bucs back in the late 80’s (when they were terrible). I think the total is in the fifties of players in MLB and the NFL who own my art.
Lots of Rock and Roll stuff, too – sold a painting to Steve Tyler and Clapton signed one for me.
Each day on the pitching list I find myself not knowing a pitcher or two. Im enjoying hearing the new names. Today who is varvaro??
Im excited to see how Vizcaino performs!!!!!
Prado had me fooled because I’ll admit when I first saw him I thought he was a good bench player , nothing more. Man was I wrong about him and I’m glad because he is an all-star and team player who keeps the clubhouse loose. Yeah I got my Uggla player t-shirt a couple weeks ago, already wore it poudly a couple times around the Chicagoland area. My top 5 in no particular order are: Uggla, Heyward, Chipper, BMac, and Huddy.
50 or so games in we’ll have sufficient data and trend information to be able to say who is and isnt really competative
Trying to project who is or isnt gonna be in the hunt because of which AAA prospect hit or whiffed off a AAA pitcher in the first two games of the spring is just dumb
PTown – Yeah, he took me to the dressing room to get cash for the art work. Put his hand on my shoulder and told me how nice it was to be high on life instead of drugs. Yeah.
AT … I just read an article about how disposal of hydraulic fracturing waste water may be contributing to increase in earthquake activity. As usual with all environmental science, a lot of speculation and not much data.
On the other hand, the New Madrid fault is over-due to pop. The stuff up in GreenBriar could be a precursor to a big earth quake.
For those of you who have never heard of the New Madrid fault, the last time it popped in 1812, it (allegedly) caused the Mississippi River to run backwards, and it did change the course of the Mississippi.
As usual, Robert, you missed the point I was making – about how quickly misconceptions could be proved wrong. It really had nothing at all to do with reality, just the fickleness of expectation.

To all you FB folks … I remember that there was a DOB facebook page; however, there are a few Braves pages. Could someone post a link to the DOB page, please?

DOB,
Your cousin just recorded fastest hundred in cricket world cup history.

“Yeah, like you’ll change your opinion by May.”

Lew,
How long does it take you to knock out a wildlife drawing?
Do you do this for a hobby or living?
