Yea, Augmon was one of Tark’s great Running Rebel teams from UNLV. He had a bunch of good players on his team then. Greg Anthony, Anderson Hunt, and of course Grand-mama himself, Larry Johnson (there was one other stud on that team that I can’t remember)…

Westhead has always taught that running style of offense. He counts on his players being superbly conditioned and being able to dominate the last 10 minutes of the game. I have always liked to think if
every thing else is equal and your team is in better shape, you should win.

CR / DOB / Denizens – can anyone provide any helpful advice for someone visiting Spring Training for the first time? I know I’ve seen this question asked many times in years past but because I wasn’t visiting ST then I guess I didn’t pay too much attention. Any info or pointing me to links where this question has been otherwise answered would be much appreciated. Anybody ever listen to Tinsley Ellis? I saw him in February at the Bama Theater in Tuscaloosa while I was there visiting my girlfriend, and damn, that man can play some guitar. Had only stumbled upon him recently and then saw he was playing there so it was a logical trip to make for me, show was free to boot. Great show, just him, his bassist, and the drummer, and they brought the house down. Best part is, is that he is out of Atlanta.

The trainer’s silence has been costly to the government. The judge has ruled that unless Anderson testifies, prosecutors may not show the jury a stack of doping calendars and private steroid test results that were seized in a 2003 raid on the Bay Area Laboratory Cooperative steroid mill in Burlingame. – The San Francisco Chronicle

Barry Zito had 5 walks in 13 batters Monday. 40 – 57 in 4 seasons with the Giants. $126,000,000.00 contract. I think Zito shows promise to be a fine government attorney.

Hillbilly, I haven’t seen much of Brown. Just purely looking at his minor league numbers, it looks like he just started to take advantage of his size the last couple of years. He’s never been extremely disciplined but I think he’ll eventually be okay. He doesn’t have awful discipline but he lacks it just enough to be a fairly easy out for major league hitters. It seems though that he’s not ready yet to step in and become a very good hitter. I think he’ll merely be adequate this season.

Jeff R

Replacing Werth’s bat is a problem, as Lew says.

The Phils, as we’ve discussed here before, need to stay as well.

Gwinnett may have the deapest pitching staff in the history of minor leagues this year. Braves will be able to reload after trades/injuries for sure this season. Now we just need to have McLouth and/or Schaeffer keep it up, and make sure the bench is deep and ready to go. Let’s play ball!

JeffR- I’d say that the Cards loss of Wainwright (and possibly Carpenter, as well) leaves the Brewers in line for the Central Division Title. I just don’t see the Reds putting up the numbers they did last year, the Astros and Pirates are nothing to write home about.

Can the Cubs mount a charge?

I did hear Matt Diaz on XM yesterday – maybe he can inspire the Pirates, but I’m still doubting it.
