Man, did you see the ABC news interview with him? When the commentator suggested that he might suffer from manic-depression, I thought he would slug her! Out of control man. Interviewer, “Dude, see a shrink, or words to that effect.” SHEEN, “Who wants to be medicated, I’d rather be crazy, or words to that effect.”
Nothing I haven’t said for decades. I have a mild obsessive disorder. Used to tell folks, ” I’d rather be crazy than sedated.” So, I know where he’s coming from, but his mania is bordering on break-down stuff, and he could harm himself and others.

“As I’ve said in the past, I do ok with AG as long as people don’t try to bash Escobar to put him on a pedestal.” RG
I understand where you’re coming from. Really, I do. But I have a question for you.
I think the biggest bashing of Yunel, and even if it was symbolic more than literal, was the Braves players giving Gonzo a standing ovation upon arriving in the clubhouse last year.
Are you bitter at all of the Braves players for feeling that way in the middle of a pennant race?
Because for me, my “opinion” of Yunel was solidified with that act by the Braves players. If you recall (maybe you don’t or maybe you weren’t around on the blog then), I’ve always been tough on Yunel for being a bit of a hot dog. I can remember a time when so many bloggers were thinking Yunel’s “actions” were going to get another Braves player plunked by opposing pitchers. To which DOB chimed in at the time that he was just a misread and played with a lot of fire as a cuban defector, etc… (don’t remember the exact details).
So I was always hard on him as a fan, for not just putting his head down and running hard all the time.
Also, it’s very well known how much of a disruption a player has to be to get in Bobby’s doghouse. The fact that Yunel has so much upside (or “had” – hard to refer to a 28 year old as a kid with upside anymore), AND Bobby wanted no part oh him? That speaks volumes that they weren’t willing to wait through what might end up being just one big, bad slump.
So, in my mind, I think the other 24 players on the 25 man roster and the coaching staff are the one’s responsible for “bashing Yunel and putting Gonzo on a pedestal” the second he walked into his new clubhouse.
Anything us bloggers might say about him (true or not, opinion or fact), hold literally zero weight compared to Gonzo getting the standing ovation.
Thoughts?

Any truth to the rumor that braves players were a little confused, thought we pulled off an amazing heist in getting A-Gon for Escobar and Jojo, heard that A-Gon was in the building, stood for the standing ovation only to have Seabass walk in. To avoid any new drama they just kept clapping, didn’t want to piss him off.
In all seriousness, I think we’re making a bigger deal out of the standing O than it was.

When I was growing up, my mother tried to expose me to some culture. She had me listen to opera, classical music, and certain movies. One of those movies was, “My Fair Lady”.

Tom O’Hawke–I remember my mother’s departing of culture projects. Most failed. Suddenly one took–a trip back up to NYC. A tour of the Lincoln Center, a visit to Julliard, a trip through the Met and the Modern, as well as going up and down 5th Avenue. Only then, could we begin to think of culture. As a child, we traveled a great deal. She required that we write reports of every place to which we would go. So we knew what we were seeing when there. I remembering being annoyed by these projects, but years later, i greatly appreciated them.
