JHey’s better, thanks for what you do… I did my 4 in another branch, a long, long time ago…
February 27th, 20118:45 pm
J Hey’s better, I agree. I seriously have a spot in my heart for the Braves and will until I die. Whether some people get that or not it doesn’t bother me. Honestly, there’s nothing better for me than chillin at the house watching the Braves. Better if they’re winning though.
Brava, nolie is a character for sure.
February 27th, 20118:46 pm
That was easy.
It’s a little early, but here’s a link to a blog NCAA Tourney Pick ‘Em league.
Password is ward
Chippers career is in steep decline.
He’s about to turn 39 while coming of another major injury to the same knee.
Chipper plays for the love of the game, his teammates and pure professionalism.
He will almost certainly fail in most regards as to what will be considered success in 2011.
The man is going into Cooperstown on the first available ballot as the best pure switch hitter in major league history.
Larry Wayne .Jr has made more money than any of us can dream about. He’s set for life and doesn’t give a hoot about his current contract.
Two thousand – eleven will be Chippers last season and I wish him the best in all future endeavours
February 27th, 20118:48 pm
Soph – I was hoping Gary would give your boys a better game tonight…
February 27th, 20118:49 pm

February 27th, 20119:13 pm
Maybe that really is “The First Mrs. Jones”–who the heck else would know her maiden name.
February 27th, 20119:14 pm
The man is going into Cooperstown on the first available ballot as the best pure switch hitter in major league history. Reality
not a fact, just an opinion. maybe he will but there isfair chancer that will not occur first ballot depending on who else is on the ballot, not is it a fact about best switch hitter he does not even come close to Mantle
February 27th, 20119:16 pm
JHey’s better: Are YOU Related To Tomahawkin By Any Chance? Or did YOU both go TO the same Blogging school??????
Just messin’ wit ya!
February 27th, 20119:19 pm
31.778% of the bloggers here are written by the same person who does Tomahawkin
February 27th, 20119:22 pm
King’s Speech is a dark horse candidate.
February 27th, 20119:23 pm
nolie– “he does not come close to Mantle”
Actually, nolie, he does. Higher lifetime batting average than Mantle. Trails him in HRs, but not by all that much. I bet Chipper has more lifetime RBIs than the Mick, (I don’t feel like looking it up).
But I would take Mantle over him
February 27th, 20119:24 pm
The ex-Mrs. Chipper Jones. Is that really you?
that Kirk Douglas presentation was painful to watch…
February 27th, 20119:25 pm
Wow, looks like this blog has had a very eventful day. N8 and Ward going at it like a couple of children and I missed it all. *Tear*
Hope you don’t mind a mostly looker and seldom poster join your March Madness group. I played last year and want to try again this year. I did not need to use the password for some reason…
February 27th, 20119:26 pm
Now I Know it seems IM backing N8 a wholeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lot but what he said was not just a jab at Ward in my eyes There are sooooooooooooooo many people that post utter nonsense here everyday that makes me want to just scream cause you can tell they dont know what they are talking about and go to the ball park just to get sauced not to watch the game
Damn, except for the fact that I don’t drink! Anyway, I saw that you said you have been a Marine for 12 years, and I don’t care if you want it or not, but thank you for your service.
“As much as Braves fans here want to see Uggla, I’m betting the largest applause will be for Chipper Jones, who’s in his familiar No. 3 spot in the lineup, albeit DHing.”
Looks like DOB is breaking out the $50 vocabulary words in spring training, getting ready for regular season bloggage.
February 27th, 20119:28 pm
I don’t see anything wrong with what Chipper said in the interview. As a matter of fact I agree that they should kiss it. He is my favorite Brave and when he went down last year I donated my tickets. It just did not feel right going to Turner Field without Chipper.
Any fan that attends games know that he gets a standing ovation everytime he comes to the plate. There are more Chipper jerseys in the stands overall. You see some for other players but the larger amount are Chipper. People of all categories wear Chipper unlike other players who have a certain following he has everyone for fans.
I love you Chipper, have a good year, please stay healthy and God Bless.
February 27th, 20119:29 pm
DK – that’s perfectly fine…glad to have you
February 27th, 20119:30 pm
unless you believe these people:
“The Kings Speech” is the overwhelming favorite to win in Oscar odds for Best Picture with the only other close choice being “The Social Network. …”
February 27th, 20119:31 pm
best thing about the Oscars….the other 1/2 is too busy to bitch about me blogging for the next several hours
February 27th, 20119:34 pm
Well said, pameee.
Trey, glad to see you made it home safely. Hope your trip was a good one.
Driving back from the FL east coast yesterday, we were close to Pierson FL, Chipper’s home. Saw lots of cloth-covered fern-growing nurseries. They reminded me of the story Chipper has often told about himself growing up.
When he’d get in trouble with his parents, they’d make him go out and work in their fern nursery. He said he hated that so much it made him even more determined to make it in the baseball world, ’cause the fern business was definitely not for him!
February 27th, 20119:36 pm
I don’t know if you saw them but I posted several links for you, fishing, vacation homes, and diving stuff.
February 27th, 20119:37 pm
Yeah, I can’t really see Chipper growing ferns for a living.
Higher lifetime batting average than Mantle PO
one of the least important aspects since Mantle has a good bit higher OBP and his BA was almost the same untill his last 4 season when he was in even more pain than usual.
Mantle swamps him in OPS+ 172 to 142, and in about every other significant number there is and that is with playing in extreme pain most of his career. Sorry not really all that close
It’s pretty close: Mickey Mantle 1,509 lifetime RBIs; Chipper Jones 1,491 RBIs.. So Chipper will pass the Mick this year in that category—quite an accomplisment
Bat – I’ve been in Breckenridge so off the blog for the last week…if you tell me about when you posted them I’ll go look them up

Richbrave That one made me smile… Drop by for a visit…
Love too as soon as you dispense with wordpress. I tried twenty times to register. Won’t let me use @, and thusly I didn’t sign on.
February 27th, 20119:40 pm
jeffrey d – when do the brackets get setup?
February 27th, 2011
I did not know N8 was a Chipper hater
hates Bobby too.needs to be banned
nolie must be banned. No wait, there’d be too big a void left to fill.
I have them, I just tried to post it all in one post but it will not let me, so i’ll break it up.
February 27th, 20119:41 pm
I have not had much luck with the vacation rental search. One thing I have learned is, all the real estate people I know have moved away. Is this the kind of place you had in mind?
Miramar is a convenient area, but it will be crowed that time of year, of course everywhere else will be too.
If you want to fish the bays or inshore check these guys out. They are out of “Orvis” but I know people that have used them and had good results, caught some big reds on light tackle, that’s a good time in my book. Try for Capt, David Mangum
February 27th, 20119:42 pm
Like I said – nolie–I’ll take Mantle, too. (he was my hero as a kid) However, Chipper’s numbers do come close. Mantle was better defensively, too
These guys are out of Grayton Beach, they leave from the beach and have a of of success without going far offshore. I know several people that have fished with them and all have been very pleased. Too bad you will not be here for cobia season that would be great fun.
February 27th, 20119:43 pm
I don’t dive anymore and this is the only thing I’ve seen for a dive charter. There is bound to be something else. I’ll ask around.
That’s a start at least.
February 27th, 20119:45 pm
Jones is either a liar or delusional. He’s the oldest 3rd baseman in major league baseball by several years. He’s also coming off major surgery and has a recent history of being prone to all manner of injury.
The idea that the team is better off with 14 million committed to a 39 year old who probably will be useful for 60 games or less is ridiculous. Who in their right mind thiks we wouldn’t be better off with a healthy young power hitting outfielder ?
Were you at the Braves game while on east coast
nolie – how does someone’s pain add to their HOF value?
Trent Reznor sure has come a long way from fronting Nine Inch Nails…
February 27th, 20119:48 pm
I totally fail to see how you think their overall numbers are close, but I’ll agree to disagree and move on
February 27th, 20119:50 pm
A-ville is a long time Chipper hater for any of y’all making lists
So extremely excited for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross…well deserved win for best score. First movie they ever scored and they won an Oscar…not half bad.
Nolie—I think Chipper will make it to the HOF–but probably not first ballot. But who is
on the ballot during Chipper’s first year of eligibility shouldn’t make a difference. You can vote for more than one player.
Another great switch-hitter, Eddie Murray had 500 HRs and 3,000 hits and he made it first ballot. Chipper won’t have either.
February 27th, 20119:51 pm
They’re scoring Girl With the Dragon Tattoo also
February 27th, 20119:52 pm
tiger – not until after the conference tournaments in a couple weeks
February 27th, 20119:53 pm
Trey: How’s it going?
Brava, it was long. Right before I got on I-85 in Norcross, there was a driver already pissing me off.
February 27th, 20119:54 pm
Ward, pretty good. Just got home, now relaxing, before I have to get ready for work in the morning.
February 27th, 20119:55 pm
yeah they can vote for a bunch PO, but it almost always turns out with one or two inductees for some reason. More than likely it will continue to be that way most of the time. I’m not saying he has no chance at first ballot but even though he is my favorite player in 50+years I don’t see him as strong enough to be that slam-dunk over anybody else kinda guy. I sure hope he gets in then though
February 27th, 20119:56 pm
Trey: Watching the Oscars,so far not bad…..
February 27th, 20119:57 pm
February 27th, 2011
“Chipper haters LIVE WITH IT Chipper is right up there with Hank Aaron as the greatest non-pitcher to ever play with the Braves.” LTBF
Eddie MATHEWS, Dale MURPHY, Larry JONES, Andruw JONES.
Kid NICHOLS, Warren SPAHN, Phil NIEKRO, Greg MADDUX, John SMOLTZ, Tom GLAVINE.
They all are second tier to HAMMERIN’ HANK
Ward, sounds good.
Anyway, looks like Tomahawkin is the new comment board leader, not a real shocker.
February 27th, 20119:58 pm
I’m suprised Eddie Murry isn’t elected. He was a great hitter…….How about Jack Cark too….
Nolie, you’re a liar, plain and simple.
February 27th, 20119:59 pm
Correction ,Jack Clark….
February 27th, 201110:00 pm
I don’t think King’s Speech is either a dark horse or a big favorite, I think it’s just about equal in chance to Social Network though I am hoping Speech wins
February 27th, 201110:01 pm
BS A-ville, I have never read a post of yours about Chipper that was anything but negative. If you claim otherwise then you are the liar.
February 27th, 201110:02 pm
cabravesfan …yep I heard about that. I’m pretty sure David Fincher may be keeping him around for all his films.I know as a fan I wouldn’t be opposed to that. Well, maybe, just in case he has a slight incline to ever make another NIN album..then I’d prefer he spend time on that (as a selfish fan )
February 27th, 201110:03 pm
pretty strong reaction for a smiley-faced post. I musta hit a nerve
Ward–I’m pretty sure Eddie Murray is in the HOF.
February 27th, 201110:04 pm
Bat – thanks for the links…the place looks about right now just have to wrangle up the other people to commit
I always liked him, but really became a fan when I discovered he wrote Hurt and then when I heard his version of it, I was sold
February 27th, 201110:06 pm
You are correct……..If Eddie made I’m sure Chipper will. I should watch more of the HOF, and keep updated it’s been a while since I’ve seen one…..smile
I made the Top 20 posters in the last blog. Does that mean I have to move to my mom’s basement. Hope not, because she doesn’t have a basement.
February 27th, 201110:07 pm
The Last Airbender won the Razzie last night.
The Worst Actor award went to Ashton Kutcher who was nominated for both Killers and Valentine’s Day. Though he played the same general role that he normally plays in both of these films and was extremely over-advertised, the award could have just as easily gone to Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Gerard Butler, or Jack Black.
In the Worst Actress category, the fact that all four women of Sex and the City 2 were nominated together made them an easy choice. The film and the actresses got awful reviews for a completely ridiculous film thrown together for the sole purpose of making a sequel to the Sex and the City movie. The film also won Worst On-Screen Ensemble and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Seque
February 27th, 201110:08 pm
“either way, I am going to have to go with Ward.. he at least gets to the point..” No, Really…
While I can’t tell you how to feel about my posts (afterall, opinions are like A-holes, right?), I will however disagree with the above statement.
Ward’s been posting here for a while and has yet to make a point.
Please continue with your regularly scheduled programming.
February 27th, 201110:09 pm
I remember Jack Clark. He could hit some bombs. I remember one game in Boston he hit a long one , and it hit their sign in left field. He was one solid player…..Good power….
February 27th, 201110:10 pm
Ward’s comments are stream of consciousness posting N8, there doesn’t have to be a point
Can you feel the suspense? Can you feel the anticipation? What movie will win the best picture of the year. Envelope, please.. .And the Winner is…….. “Kiss My A** (The Chipper Jones Story)”
February 27th, 201110:11 pm
cabravesfan .. yeah I’ve been a fan of his for a while, great musician and performer. I saw him at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC a few years ago and was probably the coolest show I’ve been to. To see him in a club that fit only 500 people (vs. an arena) was extremely fun. And as an interesting tid bit, like you and I, he too is an X-Files fan.
Monday morning’s commute will be cloudy, but dry, Nitz said. The afternoon and evening commute will be a different story. That’s when storms will roll through the metro area and north Georgia, possibly bringing winds topping 60 mph.
“They are really going to pack a punch,” Nitz said.
Heavy rain, cloud-to-ground lightning and even isolated tornadoes are expected in the afternoon and will likely last through the early evening, Nitz said.
Bye bye, pretty weather. Stay safe, people.
Ward is usually on a whole ‘nother level than the rest of us…
February 27th, 201110:15 pm
nolie: Very, Funny smile……..It’s all cool…..
Nolie, and think if Tomahawkin takes Ward under his wing, and Ward becomes another Tomahawkin.
February 27th, 201110:17 pm
Ward—Sure, I remember Jack Clark–an all-star, but HOFer–don’t think so. But a real power hitter–I remember him mostly from his Cardinal days in the 80s.–the only power hitter on some excellent speed and defense Cardinal teams
February 27th, 201110:21 pm
Play- Offs remember some of the bombs he hit……It’s possible some day. smile…..
February 27th, 201110:23 pm
nah he ain’t never gonna make the HOF ward
Playoffs!!! I think Chipper will get in…….It woould be nice to see him , and Murphy get in…..
February 27th, 201110:25 pm
