J Hey’s better, I agree. I seriously have a spot in my heart for the Braves and will until I die. Whether some people get that or not it doesn’t bother me. Honestly, there’s nothing better for me than chillin at the house watching the Braves. Better if they’re winning though.

Actually, nolie, he does. Higher lifetime batting average than Mantle. Trails him in HRs, but not by all that much. I bet Chipper has more lifetime RBIs than the Mick, (I don’t feel like looking it up).
But I would take Mantle over him

I don’t see anything wrong with what Chipper said in the interview. As a matter of fact I agree that they should kiss it. He is my favorite Brave and when he went down last year I donated my tickets. It just did not feel right going to Turner Field without Chipper.
Any fan that attends games know that he gets a standing ovation everytime he comes to the plate. There are more Chipper jerseys in the stands overall. You see some for other players but the larger amount are Chipper. People of all categories wear Chipper unlike other players who have a certain following he has everyone for fans.
I love you Chipper, have a good year, please stay healthy and God Bless.

Driving back from the FL east coast yesterday, we were close to Pierson FL, Chipper’s home. Saw lots of cloth-covered fern-growing nurseries. They reminded me of the story Chipper has often told about himself growing up.
When he’d get in trouble with his parents, they’d make him go out and work in their fern nursery. He said he hated that so much it made him even more determined to make it in the baseball world, ’cause the fern business was definitely not for him!

Higher lifetime batting average than Mantle PO
one of the least important aspects since Mantle has a good bit higher OBP and his BA was almost the same untill his last 4 season when he was in even more pain than usual.
Mantle swamps him in OPS+ 172 to 142, and in about every other significant number there is and that is with playing in extreme pain most of his career. Sorry not really all that close

It’s pretty close: Mickey Mantle 1,509 lifetime RBIs; Chipper Jones 1,491 RBIs.. So Chipper will pass the Mick this year in that category—quite an accomplisment

If you want to fish the bays or inshore check these guys out. They are out of “Orvis” but I know people that have used them and had good results, caught some big reds on light tackle, that’s a good time in my book. Try for Capt, David Mangum

These guys are out of Grayton Beach, they leave from the beach and have a of of success without going far offshore. I know several people that have fished with them and all have been very pleased. Too bad you will not be here for cobia season that would be great fun.

Jones is either a liar or delusional. He’s the oldest 3rd baseman in major league baseball by several years. He’s also coming off major surgery and has a recent history of being prone to all manner of injury.
The idea that the team is better off with 14 million committed to a 39 year old who probably will be useful for 60 games or less is ridiculous. Who in their right mind thiks we wouldn’t be better off with a healthy young power hitting outfielder ?

Nolie—I think Chipper will make it to the HOF–but probably not first ballot. But who is
on the ballot during Chipper’s first year of eligibility shouldn’t make a difference. You can vote for more than one player.
Another great switch-hitter, Eddie Murray had 500 HRs and 3,000 hits and he made it first ballot. Chipper won’t have either.

yeah they can vote for a bunch PO, but it almost always turns out with one or two inductees for some reason. More than likely it will continue to be that way most of the time. I’m not saying he has no chance at first ballot but even though he is my favorite player in 50+years I don’t see him as strong enough to be that slam-dunk over anybody else kinda guy. I sure hope he gets in then though

The Last Airbender won the Razzie last night.
The Worst Actor award went to Ashton Kutcher who was nominated for both Killers and Valentine’s Day. Though he played the same general role that he normally plays in both of these films and was extremely over-advertised, the award could have just as easily gone to Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Gerard Butler, or Jack Black.
In the Worst Actress category, the fact that all four women of Sex and the City 2 were nominated together made them an easy choice. The film and the actresses got awful reviews for a completely ridiculous film thrown together for the sole purpose of making a sequel to the Sex and the City movie. The film also won Worst On-Screen Ensemble and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Seque

cabravesfan .. yeah I’ve been a fan of his for a while, great musician and performer. I saw him at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC a few years ago and was probably the coolest show I’ve been to. To see him in a club that fit only 500 people (vs. an arena) was extremely fun. And as an interesting tid bit, like you and I, he too is an X-Files fan.
