Btw I was glad Frank Wren got the extension. I made very sure to indicate that was my desire when I filled out my Liberty Media shareholder proxy vote this year.
February 26th, 20111:58 pm
Wondering when the blog will give up on McLouth this year. He could be our next Greg Norton. Hope i’m wrong.
February 26th, 20111:59 pm
#Braves’ Venters struck out Fernando Martinez to start 3rd
I wonder if at any point we’ll get a sense that Nate is feeling pushed by Schafer. Schafer is younger, faster, throws better…but can he hit? Can either of them hit?
February 26th, 20112:00 pm
Reyes singles up the middle off Everyday Jonny
Fredi's Fu Manchu
Wow. Martinez missed that one by about 6 inches.

Nice DP to end the inning!!
Is this thing on internet radio anywhere? Don’t really want to shell out $$ on MLB.tv
DOB I am watching on MLB and noticed that none of JJ’s pitches touched 90 and did not even get past 86. If I remember correctly JJ’s fastball is usually in the 90’s during the regular season. Do pitchers usually hold back the first few ST games or is it something else?
Castillo grounds nto 5-4-3 DP to end third, Braves turned it despite Diory H bobbling ball b4 throw (Castillo ain’t burner he was)

February 26th, 20112:04 pm
Did Mets do anything this offseason except get a big loan from MLB? Last place is calling them.
February 26th, 20112:05 pm
Braves’ first televised game is Thursday vs. Tigers on ESPN
Heyward singles to start fourth inning
February 26th, 20112:06 pm
Texas…his velocity will come. But given his strike ball ratio I’d say that’s a pretty good day’s work for JJ…something to build on.
Fredi, not a problem. How’s it working for you?
February 26th, 20112:07 pm
Nice homer by Hinkse.
HINSKE HOMER for Braves with 2 out in 4th
Hinske!!! First Braves homer!!!!!!!!!!
Home Run, Hinske.
Heyward + Freeman = 500 lbs of Thump
ok so Hinske is not running this one out either
February 26th, 20112:08 pm
Hinske’s first-pitch homer followed a GIDP by McCann
McFann Ô Ô
Oh [crud]…Yay, Hinske!!
February 26th, 20112:09 pm
Wow…that internet radio delay is like 5 minutes
Great job Freddie!!!
HINSKE. I love that guy.
One of the highlights of last season was the quote DOB got from him when Fansworth first came to the clubhouse: “Remember that time you chokeslammed that guy in Cleveland? That was awesome.”
EXCELLENT START TO THE SPRING BY HINSKE!!!!
February 26th, 20112:10 pm
Freeman hits second double of game, this the other way to LF
FREEMAN! 2 Double day!
I’m listening to :

Here come the boys of summer

music question …
anyone watch the concert for george that was free all day yesterday on george’s Birthday …he would have been 68
and that would be George of The Fab Four btw
February 26th, 20112:12 pm
By the way, Braves’ Hinske and Freeman did that damage to Pedro Beato. Yes, they beato’d the righty
February 26th, 20112:14 pm
Hello there denizens, baseball is back!!
And, just to put the icing on my cake, cycling classics season started today with a verry impressive win by Sebastiaan Langeveld at the Omloop het Nieuwsblad. Yes, life is looking good again from a grey and cold Netherlands.
Thanks for all the hours you’re putting in DOB, Carroll, still greatly appreciated across the big blue.
For anyone looking for an internet feed (and it seems mlb.com is not on the ball yet, cause it’s been running perfectly): http://www.jici36.blogspot.com/
Welcome back Braves!
O’Flaherty pitching the 4th inng, with perhaps 16 ounces still in him from the 48-oz steak he ate at Shula’s last week.
February 26th, 20112:15 pm
Every morning on the field you could see them arrive…they stood 6′6, weighed 245…
both were broad in the shoulder, and narrow at the hip, and everybody knew you
didn’t give no lip to Hey-Free!
That’s half of the cow.
BamaDude @ #1CowCollege AL -
Didn’t see it, but George is my 2nd fave Beatle….behind John.
February 26th, 20112:16 pm
‘The Losers’ Conrad, Diory, Schafer, Nate combined 0-6. Good to see they have worked on their hitting.
O’Flaherty is a dude who has some fire in the belly…
February 26th, 20112:17 pm
That lady sitting behind home plate in orange needs to put her long lens camera down and just watch the damn game haha.
February 26th, 20112:18 pm
thanks that does seem to be a better link than the fan
Jeepers, you can’t hate ‘em for not gettin’ a hit in the first four innings of Spring Training…
February 26th, 20112:19 pm
Mixxo …it was just awesome …
agreed John then George for sure
February 26th, 20112:20 pm
Wow, Conrad fielded a ball. Shocking.
Nick, I see your overly optimistic attitude has not changed a bit.
February 26th, 20112:22 pm
Trey, I’m actually optimistic about this season.
February 26th, 20112:23 pm
Krimbell loosening up in the pen?
Watching Braves game with Mets announcers on computer and Yankees and Phils on the tube. Of course, AJ with Yanks, but did you guys know Pete Orr playing for Phillies. If Petey is on their final roster, their pitching will not save them.
Nick, you are showing it well, too.
February 26th, 20112:24 pm
Braves’ Jurrjens is ready to talk, so gotta head down to clubhouse. You’re on your own for a while
February 26th, 20112:25 pm
mclouth’s OBP so far is .500. Can’t argue with that.
Nick, why didn’t you include McCann in your hate-fest. He’s 0-2 so far. Don’t want to tangle with the McFann, eh?
If you can’t be optimistic during the first 4 innings, of the first spring training game……well..
February 26th, 20112:26 pm
Double for Schaf!
Shhh! Don’t give him any ideas!
February 26th, 20112:27 pm
abwright – He’s the best hitting C in baseball, I’ll give him a pass.
Glad to see Jordan coming right back after Nick’s stupid comment…
February 26th, 20112:28 pm
Hmm…doubles out the ying-yang…
Join the party when you come up, BMac!
McLouth hit in the right ankle…
Well theres a hit by Schafer. Maybe he did work on his hitting after all.
Nate just got hit in the foot by a pitch.
February 26th, 20112:29 pm
Don Sutton could not resist a George Costanza comment as Constanza came in to run…
February 26th, 20112:31 pm
Venice Jim — the Mets announcers on TV made the same Constanza comment as well….they went for the easy joke.
February 26th, 20112:32 pm
Heyward = BUST
February 26th, 20112:33 pm
Big league teams playing ballgames. An awesome day it is.
2011 will only get better from here
February 26th, 20112:34 pm
Okay, I’m sorry but you can’t see “Costanza” and not think of the stocky, stingy bald man from Seinfeld. If Costanza ever makes the Braves, we’re gonna have to get used to the jokes.
February 26th, 20112:35 pm
Bama Dude…….agree about the Cleveland station…..Thanks Venice JIM!!! Bama….definitely suggest you get firefox.
February 26th, 20112:36 pm
nick and optimistic in same sentence = FA I L !!! …
i b on firefox
February 26th, 20112:37 pm
Just Getting Up…
BamaDude, did the auto refresh link I sent you work?
You’re welcome on WCLE – what you have to remember if you listen to that station is that sometimes the games are on AM, sometimes on FM…
February 26th, 20112:38 pm
Kimbrel is getting knocked around. A double, then a homer.
So much for Kimbrel for the season…
auto refresh is good Trey – Thanks – I recommend to all as lazy as me
Kimbrell = BUST!
yup Trey works jest fine Thanks !!
February 26th, 20112:39 pm
No Need to Panic about Kimmie…Its All Good!
I miss Wagner already.
February 26th, 20112:40 pm
So far Venters 1, Kimbrel 0 in the closers race.
DOB and denizens, can anyone point me to the best BBQ place in Winston Salem, NC? I’m heading down there from Blacksburg tomorrow. Thanks in advance!
Venters for closer
You don’t Panic as a result of one outing…there’s plenty more game left before we jump ship
I miss him, too, N Nine.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
