DOB – here’s an article you wrote about Beau Torbert back when the Braves acquired him. I love his numbers regardless of where he is playing and am pulling for a miracle. Can you give a brief update on him? — keylargo
He’ll be in minor league camp, which I think opens this week. I’ll check. Otherwise, there’s no update yet.
February 27th, 20116:53 am
Bravestillidie: For autographs, if I were you I’d get to the ballpark at about 8 a.m. and get some guys hitting early in the covered batting cage beyond left field. Then I’d just hang out around the Braves dugout during BP and wait for players to come over and sign. There will be dozens of others doing the same thing, and swarming when a player or the manager comes over to sign.
February 27th, 20117:03 am
Sun rises over Lake Bryan, Day 14 (since pitchers and catchers reported).
Braves Grapefruit home opener today (1 p.m.), and Dan Uggla’s Braves debut. No TV. It’s on radio in Atlanta (680-AM, 93.7-FM).
February 27th, 20118:00 am
Dear Blog, Yesterday’s outpouring of support for a “lurker” was both unexpected and overwhelming. It has taken until now for the tears to stop flowing enough to once again express my gratitude…All of you truly are a special group. There is not “and idiot” or a “maroon” to be found. May God bless and keep all of you. Thank You. Here’s to the best season ever, for both players and faithful alike. Go Braves!!!
February 27th, 20118:10 am
DOB, I assume, that with your appetite for music, you have listened to Adele. I just heard her recent CD ”21” and I am totally blown away. What an amazing singer/songwriter at just 23 years old.
Have you talked about her on the blog before? If so, I really sorry I missed it.
February 27th, 20118:19 am
GREGOR BLANCO finally signs with KC. One year deal. Listed as a ph.
1976fan: The group of people who populate this blog are composed of really pleasant and compassionate people(except for the occasional troll, but even most of the trolls are decent folks with a need to talk to others about what they like). Most have felt the lost of loved ones and it brings back the old feelings when another blogger is hurting.
Be sure to come anytime and BS with all your fellow travelers in life. The goofy bunch that blogs here 24/7 will surely help distract you for a little while!
February 27th, 20118:30 am
VJ and Soph, thanks.Good win for the Hokies.
February 27th, 20118:31 am
ccrider: Yeah, Adele’s really got a soulful voice. Lot of Dusty Springfield in her. Hard to believe she’s that young. I haven’t heard the new album yet, but her debut album “19″ was strong.
February 27th, 20118:40 am
DOB, The new album, from what my wife has told be me, is more mature(23years old ,Really?) and the songwritng is well beyond her years. Having played in a band when I was in my teens, I’m blown away by her maturity!

Braves lineup Sunday vs. Mets: 1. Prado LF, 2. Schafer CF, 3. Chipper DH, 4. Uggla 2B, 5. Freeman 1B, 6. Gonzalez SS, 7. Ross C, 8. Mather RF, 9. Bowman 3B
(On lineup posted on clubhouse wall, Schafer’s name is spelled “Shafer”)
February 27th, 20119:32 am
Schafer did look good yesterday. A bullet of a groundout to Ike Davis, a ground rule double, and a good bunt try.
February 27th, 20119:39 am
I hope Mclouth is ok, and Freddy just wants to take the extra cautious approach after the hit by pitch.
February 27th, 20119:42 am
Y;all do realize that yesterday’s game was the first of Spring Training, and it doesn’t count – for anything?
Like Kimbrel said, if he’s pitching like this when camp breaks, THEN you worry and not now.
Sheesh, people. Let them do their work and get into shape before you have a collective heart attack.
I swear if I listened to the Tomahawkin/TnBrian show for very long I’d be up for a suicide attempt myself.
February 27th, 20119:46 am
Lew, perspective isn’t necessarily a strong suit here on days like yesterday.
February 27th, 20119:47 am
When will Julio Teheran pitch?
February 27th, 20119:50 am
Lew,you do have to step back and wonder why anyone would go ballistic about what is basically practice. Managers use these games to discover what they have, get repetitions in and hope for no injuries while making plans for the regular season.
Lew, giving up the lead of the first ST game is much like losing game 7 of the World Series, and you know it! Just wait until the regular season, because you know you and DOB will be having your hands full with Nick alone.
February 27th, 20119:59 am
I heard on the radio that Teheran had back spasms this week. Probably at least another few days til we see him.
Trey- I never have my hands full with trolls. They don’t mean enough to me to waste my time on most of them. Nick never had anything worthy to say and he wont be changing it this time around either. Same with Mitchell and a few others. The ignoring of ignorance may not make it go away, but it works for me, cause I’ve NEVER engaged anyone negative before.
And if you truly believe a word of that, are you interested in some swampland I own in Florida?
February 27th, 201110:01 am
DOB- It never really is at any point in time for some, anyway.
Thanks for the report on McNate’s throwing the other day. It gives hope that last year might have been defensively aberrant.
February 27th, 201110:07 am
Lew, then you are one of the few who doesn’t give into what they say. Mitchell seems to have it toned down every once in a while, but he always resorts back to freaking out when something doesn’t go his way.
You know I was being sarcastic with the whole ST is like the World Series game 7 remark.
February 27th, 201110:08 am
Too bad the game isn’t televised today. I can’t wait to see Uggla playing in a Braves uniform.
Oh well, maybe he’ll play on the 3rd against the Tigers so I can catch him on ESPN.
February 27th, 201110:09 am
Its so great that baseball is back.
February 27th, 201110:10 am
February 27th, 201110:25 am
The best album i’ve heard so far this year is from Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart, formerly of the group Floetry, called Floetic Soul.
February 27th, 201110:32 am
Trey – Yes, I knew. Your sarcasm is pretty easy to see most times since you’re ordinarily rational – except for when Bad Trey makes a rare appearance.
February 27th, 201110:41 am
“I swear if I listened to the Tomahawkin/TnBrian show for very long I’d be up for a suicide attempt myself.”
February 27th, 201110:47 am
Don’t sweat dat chief!
February 27th, 201110:48 am
THawkin – Dude, do you ever read what you post, or is your state of mind consistently in an altered state?
February 27th, 201110:50 am
Lew, I try to remain rational. It can be hard at times, especially when regular season is back.
February 27th, 201110:55 am
Dude, do you ever read what you post, or is your state of mind consistently in an altered state?
It’s called “happy & passionate” Boss….maybe you could try that sometime?
February 27th, 201110:58 am
I’ll take T-Hawkin’s “happy” over condescending, elitist drivel any day.
But, that’s just me.
February 27th, 201110:59 am
You know I read my posts…
You seem to be in a grumpy state of mind…? What did I ever do to you…?
February 27th, 201111:00 am
Moixxo – You never have had a clue and you don’t now, either. I’m plenty happy – just don’t feel the need to stay drunk for happiness or need to be totally negative to make my point.
February 27th, 201111:01 am
Mixxo – As for drivel – you would know – you put out enough of it on your own.
February 27th, 201111:02 am
Thawkin – Never did anything, but that defensive rant you and TnBrian went on last night was somewhat over the top – a position you do tend to maintain a good bit of the time.
February 27th, 201111:03 am
And I’m never grumpy. Just get off of my lawn, dammit.
Baseball artist Andy Jurinko died.
February 27th, 201111:10 am
“And I’m never grumpy. Just get off of my lawn, dammit.”
Ok, As You Wish…
Moe – Never good to lose a baseball artist – and he was one of the best.
THawkin – You do realize I’ve got a huge grin on my face typing this s##t to you? You know I have to give you a bit of grief once every year just so you know I’m paying attention.

Morning ‘Brothers of the Brave’………….
I’m throwing my hat in the door to see if it flies back out………….
Everybody ok ???
rob from sc –
Yeah, the one I used yesterday:
February 27th, 201111:18 am
Tomahawkin’s just so fun to joke on because he never takes it seriously.
IVAN – Everything’s fine – typical Sunday morning attacks, but all’s well.
How’s your knee doing?
rob from sc -
Some use 680 thefan, but the Cleveland, Tn. station seems closer to real time. 680 has about a 5 min. delay.

Tomahawkin’s just so fun to joke on because he never takes it seriously. —Trey
Lew, quick note….

February 27th, 201111:21 am
Anyway, have a fun day on the blog, as I have to get going and get on the road back to Virginia.
IVAN – Yeah, it does help. That’s one that my Doctor prescribed. Never heard anyone claim it didn’t help – at least a little.
Gil In Mechanicsville
Rob, go to the WFAN site in Atlanta and click on the live feed.
February 27th, 201111:22 am
Is it safe to come back in now?
Trey, have a safe trip.
February 27th, 201111:23 am
Both knees were f’d up, if you remember…
Been wearing knee braces daily to work, went all day yesterday (off day) without, felt pretty good.
Been taking the supplement for a few weeks now, seem to help.
February 27th, 201111:24 am
IVAN … -
All good here brah. Top o’ the morn to ya.
February 27th, 201111:27 am
Brava – Nothing serious going on here – just an exercise to get blood pumping after a Saturday night. Kind of like doing Tai Chi in the morning to get your circulation moving.
February 27th, 201111:29 am
February 27th, 201111:32 am
The In-game Feed That Mixxo Provided is about 20 seconds faster than listening to 680TheFan.com feed…
It ould be Cool if Matt Chernoff blogged on here durung games since I know he reads the blog for the fact that he always gives D.O.B. his props on his radio show…
February 27th, 201111:34 am
Eveybody take a deep breath,exhale ,everything’s good…………..
Braves baseball is back, it’s only ST, 32 days to go until the real bell rings………..
Thank God it’s a new day and WE are part of it…
Take the positive from yesterday (Freemans big day) and know we have a new manager and hitting instructor in place …..
February 27th, 201111:36 am
That’s good to hear. Lew. Though, I must admit your exercise caused me a bit of consternation.
February 27th, 201111:38 am
IVAN, Freemans big day AND JJ was looking good out there.
February 27th, 201111:40 am
Brava – You should see things when we REALLY get contentious. This was just a ST game. If this got to you…….not sure how you’ll react to a real scrap.
February 27th, 201111:42 am
February 27th, 201111:44 am
I think this years team will produce IF…………………
1. Chipper is the old Chipper
2.Chipper is NOT Crapper
3.Big Dan does his thing
4.The pitching is as good or better
5. Someone does what Wags was doing
6. We secure centerfield
Happy Birthday to Chip Caray!
February 27th, 201111:56 am
Braves radio with Sutton and Powell is an excruciating experience.
Really miss the good old days with Pete Van Wieren.

Great sunrise photo, DOB—I love how the rays or whatever of the sun make the shape of a baseball field!
February 28th, 20111:47 am
