Ok, I guess Its about Time for the Bar…
February 26th, 201110:07 pm
Ward, agreed. Hey, we haven’t brought up the replacements defense. Conrad and company…
February 26th, 201110:08 pm
Trey: I ‘ll try not to hit a tree………
February 26th, 201110:09 pm
Conrad, Diory, Lucas who would we like?
February 26th, 201110:10 pm
Freeman is a funny guy. He posted a before picture of his dinner on Twitter (a pretty huge boatload of sushi) and 27 minutes later posted the aftermath. You all should check it out.
February 26th, 201110:12 pm
I made my thoughts on Conrad known at the end of last season. Today did nothing to change my opinion. I vote him off the island.
I wonder how much food those big guy’s eat in one day?
February 26th, 201110:13 pm
Mid-infield back-up is a definite concern, I think. None of the three who seem to be in contention are impressive. Conrad is serviceable at 2B, but I don’t want to see him at SS. Diory is okay defensively, but I don’t ever want his bat up. Lucas, we shall see.
February 26th, 201110:14 pm
So we put him with the castaways for a long long…..Time smile…… It’s still early though….
February 26th, 201110:15 pm
I’d would pick Lucas, or Diory…..I guess……. I though I hope Conrad does well too….
February 26th, 201110:16 pm
Diory Needs to be in AAA, nuff said. His offense makes me lust for Rafael Belliard, and that is saying something
February 26th, 201110:17 pm
It is early, Ward. Conrad could suddenly improve on his fielding skills, but that isn’t likely. You can’t say you want the Braves to improve on their defense and advocate for Conrad to be on the bench at the same time.
correction All though. I bet I lead the blog in misspells………I would be 1st……..
February 26th, 201110:19 pm
It must suck to be a Mets fans this year. What small glimmer of hope do they even have?
I guess I’m wishy washy on the Conrad thing. I’ll wait until the end of Spring Training, and see who makes back up.
February 26th, 201110:20 pm
Tomahawkin’— Diory got a hit today. Had just as many as the Golden Boy (Jordan Schafer)
February 26th, 201110:21 pm
Playoffs: I agree…… Mets, became a burden on us over the past 8 years or so……..
February 26th, 201110:25 pm
Ward—Now the Mets are a burden on their fans. Their starting pitching is a joke. Roster with aging, over-priced players, ownership with legal and financial woes that could last for several years. Best thing for them is if Wilpon sold the team.
February 26th, 201110:28 pm
Just an observation: I don’t see much of a chance for Brooks Conrad to make this team. He could start the season at AAA, maybe be called up later
“Best thing for them is if Wilpon sold the team.”
He is trying to. Initially, he was just marketing a 25% stake. He is now making it clear that as long as he remains majority owner, he is will to sell any stake.
February 26th, 201110:29 pm
Looked about the same as the Braves by the end of today’s game it seems
February 26th, 201110:30 pm
Playoffs!!!!, I also don’t think Conrad will make the team.
February 26th, 201110:31 pm
Playoffs!!!!–I am tending to agree with you vis-a-vis Conrad. He is just not versatile enough defensively. Not having an uber-bench player like Infante will put pressure on Conrad.
February 26th, 201110:35 pm
“Tomahawkin’— Diory got a hit today. Had just as many as the Golden Boy (Jordan Schafer)”
Agreed, Schafer Is The Golden Boy of the Blog, Had Yunel gotten Busted For roids the hate for him would be off the chain. And Diory always hits against AAA pitchers…He’s a 4-A hitter, one who clowns in the minors but struggles against ML pitching
February 26th, 201110:38 pm
well looks like I am heading to Orlando for work March 21st-24th…wonder how many days early/late I can go – how much of my conference I can skip and how many games I can make
Some of you guys don’t have the slightest damn bit of respect for the truth.
February 26th, 201110:40 pm
Bat–What do you have in mind?
just figgerin’ that out Bat?
February 26th, 201110:41 pm
Schafer was not busted for riods
February 26th, 201110:42 pm
just have to say it every once in awhile.
February 26th, 201110:43 pm
Very true, Bat. I think the blog has given him a far too rough time on the suspension–especially since MLB never accused him of using HGH.
February 26th, 201110:44 pm
Nor is Schafer the golden boy of the blog maybe 60/40 hopeful.
February 26th, 201110:45 pm
Yeah guys, we need a back-up shortstop and b.u. centerfielder. And Brooks doesn’t fit the bill
Seth Greenberg and I were in high school at the same time on Long Island many years ago – of course, he looks much older than I do…
February 26th, 201110:47 pm
Me Too, Moe.
Guilty, or guilt by association, for HGH he took his punishment and but it behind him.
February 26th, 201110:48 pm
Like I said before Connie will be on the team this year for the fact that we wouldn’t made the playoff last wyear without him, his bat off the bench is too valuable
Tomahawkin’—Yes, never has so much been written about one who has done so little (Schafer). One great year in A ball and a good opening series in ‘09. That’s about it.
February 26th, 201110:50 pm
Bat–I do not understand a concept of punishment in which one still pays every day after finishing the requisite punishment. Especially, since he was never even accused of using.
Sorry I should’ve been more specific,
They are labeled under “Performance Enhancers”
A WILLIE HARRIS blast off MIKE BROADWAY ties the game……..ugh!!!!!!!
February 26th, 201110:51 pm
Tomahawkin, I know you always give nick names to players you don’t like, so I hope Jordan Schafer never crosses paths with you.
February 26th, 201110:53 pm
Off to finish making my baba ganoush and for another scotch.
Damn: Duke is about to loose to the Hookies…..
Bad shot, Kyle…
February 26th, 201110:55 pm
I’m often not sure if it is a disregard of the truth or the inability to comprehend it, There are a lot of guys on here who read what they want to into a post whether or not that is actually what is said.
I, for one, wish Jordan Schafer the best. I hope he has such a good ST that he’s chosen as the fourth outfielder because I have NO faith in Nate McLouth.
February 26th, 201110:57 pm
Nor do I, Moe. No room for nuance here.
February 26th, 201110:59 pm
(Rough night for Seth Curry)…
Well, go ahead CB’s boys.
February 26th, 201111:00 pm
I like Schafer, But he’s overhyped…No need to give him a Nickname Like I do The Phillies Players
Ibanez =’s The Gimp
Bumping that Old “Regulators” BTW, Good ass Song!
February 26th, 201111:01 pm
Well, so much for being number #1 Had a bad feeling about the game tonight…..Duke looked flat all night, and that was a bad sign……Good game though……smile…..
February 26th, 201111:03 pm
Ward – we played decently – Tech played well – that’s college hoops…
February 26th, 201111:04 pm
Bumping That Old Outkast “Rosa Parks” Probably the Best Song they did other than “B.O.B.-Bombs Over Baghdad”
Man, they’re partying up a storm at Va Tech.
February 26th, 201111:05 pm
Ah ha, hush that fuss, everybody move to the back of the bus.
February 26th, 201111:06 pm
No way in the devil do I want Schafer as the 4th OFer. He needs to play not sit
February 26th, 201111:07 pm
Va Tech. Deserves it ! Congratulations to them well earned…..
February 26th, 201111:08 pm
Tomahawkin, you like him now, but will you continue to like him if he does not perform?
February 26th, 201111:11 pm
nolie, I want him to play too, but don’t realistically see him leaving ST with the CF job considering what they’re paying McLouth.
February 26th, 201111:15 pm
if he doesn’t win it he should go to AAA rather than sit and let Young or someone else start the season in Atlanta. He can play regularly there and is only a crosstown trip if needed.
Apparently Macho Man Randy Savage was at the Braves/Mets game today. I came across a pic of him…..
Gray beard and all.
February 26th, 201111:16 pm
“Ah ha, hush that fuss, everybody move to the back of the bus.”
lol, Its Not Cool When You Do It, (Joking…)
February 26th, 201111:22 pm
got bad news for ya T’, it ain’t cool when you do it either.
Did they rush the court?
Tomahawkin, my new intro:
“I put my hand upon your hip, when I dip, you dip, we dip
You put your hand upon my hip, when you dip, I dip, we dip
I put my hand upon your hip, when I dip, you dip, we dip
You put yours, and I put mine, and we can dip down low and roll and grind!”
February 26th, 201111:23 pm
Kidding, the intro music is T’s thing.
February 26th, 201111:25 pm
February 26th, 201111:28 pm
They swallowed the court. That was some celebration.
February 26th, 201111:29 pm
nolie–I completely agree with you about Schafer. Unless he beats out Nate to start in CF, which I doubt, he needs ABs in AAA. He gains nothing being a fourth OFer. He sits and gets the random PH. This does nothing for his development.
At Georgia we expect to win. That’s why we didn’t rush the court against USC.
February 26th, 201111:30 pm
Tomahawkin’—Agreed, Schafer is overhyped. But, of course, I wish him well. I just think he needs at LEAST half a year at AAA. And, then let Matt Young or Lucas, someone who ACTUALLY had a good AAA year have his shot.
February 26th, 201111:33 pm
I haven’t seen much hype about a guy who’s been injured for 2 years and struggled to hit over .200 in the Majors.
Beating Duke is probably a tad bit more impressive then beating USC.
February 26th, 201111:35 pm
February 26th, 201111:36 pm
I wonder what Heyward might hit playing fifty of so games with a broke wrist .
February 26th, 201111:37 pm
Jeffrey d– Well, then you just haven’t been reading this blog very much the last few weeks, especially DOB’s write-ups or Bowman’s stuff on the Braves website….
February 26th, 201111:38 pm
not sure at all what that has to do with anything Bat
February 26th, 201111:39 pm
hope springs eternal PO
February 26th, 201111:40 pm
Yeah I guess not.
February 26th, 201111:41 pm
With three of the top five NCAA men’s BB teams losing today, what does this mean for the brackets? I am not a close follower of basketball, so this is more a question of intellectual curiosity.
Bat Masterson——I wonder what Heyward might hit playing fifty of so games with a broke wrist .
Not the point. The point is he doesn’t deserve this much attention because he hasn’t done all that much yet. Not his fault. But let’s see what he happens before we annoint him the next Mickey Mantle.
February 26th, 201111:43 pm
Most of what I’ve seen on Schafer is that he’s healthy and confident.
February 26th, 201111:44 pm
he’s not being punished by being put where he can get a lot of healthy reps he’s getting what he needs
February 26th, 201111:45 pm
And that CF is McLouth’s to lose.
Not that Jordan Schafer is the single hottest prospect in baseball, and it’s only a matter of time before Fredi names him the outfielder and moves Heyward and Prado to be extra infielders.
February 26th, 201111:46 pm
if he can hit 750+ he will be an asset considering his D. I think he can prolly do that but there are no guarantees.
February 26th, 201111:50 pm
But let’s see what he happens before we annoint him the next Mickey Mantle.
I follow this blog pretty closely and I have not read anything in the same universe with that comment.
February 26th, 201111:53 pm
Actually, right before your comment, nolie said he could hit 750+ homeruns.
February 26th, 201111:55 pm
and struggled to hit over .200 in the Majors.
My point was it would be pretty damned hard for anybody to hit with a broken wrist.
February 26th, 201111:56 pm
And my point was that I don’t see any writers hyping this guy.
It’s nolie’s fault then.
February 26th, 201111:58 pm
mea maxima culpa
February 26th, 201111:59 pm
Why are people losing their minds over one spring training game yeah Kimbrel gave up a homer and walked some guys its THE FIRST GAME OF SPRING TRAINING not the NL Championship game 7 to go to the Series. You know you can tell who actually watches and knows something about BASEBALL in general and who just rides the wagon until they lose 5 staight in May
February 27th, 201112:00 am
Apparently it’s in a special code you and I are not in on, jeffery.
Ive put this post on every blog because some of the people in here are nuts
February 27th, 201112:01 am
Braves Fans are excited though and thats ALWAYS a good thing
really? Thanx for telling us
February 27th, 201112:02 am
Look, a lot of people on this blog seem to think that Jordan Shafer, after two injury-plauged years, with relatively few ABs, can step right in, like nothing ever happened to him, win a job—quite a few even think he should be starting now. And he will be the answer to the centerfield problem.
I just don’t think that is realistic He needs ABs at Triple A. Keeping him on the roster is not a good idea.
February 27th, 201112:03 am
yeah Kimbrel gave up a homer and walked some guys its THE FIRST GAME OF SPRING TRAINING not the NL Championship game 7 to go to the Series
In the looneys’ defense, Kimbrel did blow a pretty important playoff game.
February 27th, 201112:04 am
