What we learned from the first spring training game:
1) No one got hurt.

Today was a good day in all. We saw that we have some really talented position guys trying to make their way aboard. All the major league pitchers, besides Kimbrel, had good days. And we did all this without the heart of our order (Prado, Jones, Uggla).

Funny thing is, Willie gave an interview just before he came into the game talking about how he didn’t want to try to hit home runs this year…said he was around Adam Dunn too much. The Mets announcers then rattled off about 8 times where Willie made a defensive play that beat the Mets over the past few years. Hats of to Willie from Cairo.
Something about Willie and Wes Helms…I HATE when those guys face us in a close and late.

So the battle for the 4th/5th outfielder spots and the battle for back up infielders kicked off today. Freddi will have some tough choices.
Tomorrow I believe we’ll see both Beachy and Minor. Honestly, that is the contest I’ve been waiting all winter to see. Best of luck to both.

The best things about Freddie Freeman’s doubles today:
1 to RF, 1 to LF and the 3rd almost to dead CF – all fields.
More impressed how in his first AB of a ST game, he remained attentive enough to take 3rd on the error.
