This whole area is great to me. Close enough to Destin but not as crowded. Laid back attitude, traffic is not bad, hard to beat. I rarely go over to Ft Walton. Do you go over to the other end of 30-A? what do you think of Alys beach?

I just drove through Alys Beach on Sunday for the first time. It’s definitely interesting looking. Lots of strange architecture but it looked cool. I want to get out that way a lot more this spring/summer.

We don’t need be wedded to anything. Developments on all 29 other teams may present different opportunities. I would trade JJ, or Lowe, or Hudson, or move KK and dump salary, if the right offer came along. Never say never.

I’m a little late getting to the topic of whether or not to trade Derek Lowe. I haven’t read anything anyone else has said on the topic, but I’ll add mine anyway. I was one of those that cried like a beotch when Lowe was signed and cried even louder when he stunk up the joint for most of 2 years here. Supposedly, he and Roger found a hitch in his delivery late last season and from that point on he was lights out. Would I trade him now? You betcha! As well as he pitched late, he is still making 30 million in his final 2 years and I would severely love to have that money for more pressing needs. I think we could come up with a reasonable replacement. It’s not like we are gonna win the NL east anyway this year. Just an opinion people.

yup for one month out of 12 in his contract so far. Even in baseball .085 is a crappy percentage

Well so far he’s won 31 games in his two seasons with the braves. He won 26 in his last two seasons with LA before he hit free agency and 16 games won was his high while with LA. It hasn’t been pretty, but he’s been more productive here than for LA to start that contract. So technically, based on wins solely, he’s been better here than with LA. We pay him for the wins and the innings, not how he gets them.

I guess that would be the difference in his and KK’s check right.

Seriously though, no one in MLB usually gets paid what they earn, just the facts of the game. Like it or not, wins wise, he’s been our most productive pitcher these last few years. All complaints why that is the case should be directed toward the offense who wasted better pitching performances from other pitchers.

No problem Bat, let me know if you need any assistance. As for the Mac, I have an Imac and unfortunately Newsleecher isn’t compatible with Macs yet, as with lots of other programs. But as you probably already know, there are programs that will let you run Windows on a Mac. I run Parallels 5.0 and it works great. I know it seems like a lot just to download anything you want for free, but it pays dividends in the end.

keylargo, yes I am, as well as a few other folks on here, I believe. The Somali pirates are uneducated and they believe that they will get away with anything. What irks me about them is the fact that their leader is angry with us for killing and arresting some of his pirates for doing what they did and vows more revenge, because they were breaking international laws.

Also, a simple solution I wish we could or would do would be to set a decoy boat out there and wait for them to try to take it over and have it detonate when they board it, to sink them down to Davey Jones.

When you have helicopters, with sophisticated radar to spot for the cruiser (that will do 30K) then run them down. Next they put in the inflateables with 8 – M16’s, M4’s and shotguns. They then run up beside them and the Somalies were giving up. They just take them back to Kenya and prosecute them.

Only shots fired were by the helicopter across the bough of a Somalie ship. They got the message quickly.

I know folks who can kill you in that situation with a knife Trey. It takes longer to pull a trigger than you think including reaction time. There are also a lot of guys who can draw and fire from a holstered gun b4 you can pull the trigger if you are waiting for an action of his b4 you fire. Bill Jordan used to prove that in court all the time as has Massad Ayoob

I talked about a knife b4 that, it can and has happened any number of times. especially if you stand around thinking that you are in control and don’t have to worry cause you got a gun and he has a knife.
It takes a very short time to cross 6 or 8 feet and though you might shoot him there is a fair chance that you won’t stop him in time to prevent being stabbed.

Nolie, no I do understand that, and I do realize that even with a gun you have to be wary of your enemy who broke into your home. Even if you have a gun and think you may be in control, and you don’t stay especially watchful he can turn tables.

You may not stop him in time to being stabbed, but with a gun you have a much better chance of bringing him down than if you are defenseless, while he has a knife and is coming at you.
