Our 2011 Braves will win with or without Chipper, which is both good for the team and bad for the player. But I think Chipper already knows this to be true. Just remember, Cox ain’t in the dugout and the new line up’s are gonna be surprising.

The only two sure bets are Uggla in the clean up spot and Freeman batting eighth. The rest of the line up will be change from game to game.

I think Heyward should be batting 3rd, but Chipper should start the season in that spot. See how it goes for a bit with our new slugger in the 4hole behind him. Heyward in the 2hole isnt a bad thing, he has the speed, OBP and will also get alot more AB’s. Regardless folks Heyward is the future we’ll have plenty of time to watch JHey batting 3rd.

“There’s about 3 other guys in our rotation I’d rather see starting over Lowe”

No Way dude, Lowe Clowned The Last 6 weeks of the season after his session with Roger McDowell before that Nats Game in DC i believe in Late August

Lowe earned his 15 mill the last 6 weeks of the season

,,,Trey………….it makes perfect sense for McCann and Uggla to alternate hitting in #4 and #5 (depending on whether a lefty or righty is starting on the mound).

I’m not totally sold on McLousy hitting #1 either. However, if the Braves are going to play him, it has to be with the hope that he can rebound (the Braves need speed at the lead-off spot).

However, the Braves are not totally dependent on The Gimper being rebounding, because Jason Heyward can more than do the job hitting #3.

The only other spot in the order that I can see The Gimper (assuming he’s healthy) hitting……..is #2. If you inserted The Gimper in the #2 hole……..then the following line-up would make sense:

1. Martin Prado
2. The Gimper
3. Jason Heyward
4. Brian McCann
5. Dan Uggla
6. Alex Gonzalez
7. Freddie Freeman
8. Nate McLouth

However, it makes little sense to have Heyward hitting #6. With his combination of speed and power, you want Heyward getting as many at-bats in RBI situations as possible.

.dude, it doesnt take much to impress people who live in The South. If O’brainless worked for a real newspaper (the N.Y. fans would rip him for all the softball questions that he’s asked Bobby Cox over the years).

Softball questions huh, well what “hardball” questions out there would have exactly stomped Bobby or how about this, what effect of having the so called “hard questions” asked would that have had on the braves on the field. You really think Bobby would let some newspaper or media person bully him into changing his on the field plans? Have you ever seen Bobby answer questions, he’s going to answer them the way he wants no matter how “tough” the question is.

Glad to know we’d get the real scoop in New York though. Warms the heart.

I meant in the eyes of everyone else. To him, he’s right and the rest of the world is a bunch of morons. To him, “ncpoots” and “jeffrey deez nuts” are a hilarious and insurmountable burns that leave us soaking in aloe for weeks.

But to the rest of us, it’s only saddening/angering to see that man can have such a selfish, hateful, and cruel side (don’t meant to imply that he’s the only one…everyone’s got it – just shows us that man in his natural state is broken. PL is just a lot less….empathetic than most)

Jake W…………..if the Atlanta press put more pressure on Booby Cox when he was making one managerial blunder after another…then perhaps he would have been forced out sooner. The New York media plays a part in managers getting fired on N.Y. teams.

Instead, game after game, we’d get “we hit it right at them” (when asked why we struggled at the plate)…..or…….”they hit a lot of good pitches” (when asked what happened with the pitching)……or….”he’s working hard” (when asked why we cant field the freaking ball). What would media types like O’brainless do? Nothing….but write fluff pieces.

I hope that Fredo actually manages this year….instead of being a cheerleader and apologist that Booby Cox was known as being.

As far as Booby Cox having the success that he did………I’ll quote Sam Grizzle when he asked Phil Helmuth during the 2003 World Series the following: “Phil you cant have pocket aces and kings every hand.” Helmuth responded, “why not, if you’re a World Champion”? Grizzle then said, “What if you’re a goofball who catches cards”?

Booby Cox is a goofball who had good players (mainly great starting pitching).

Yep, but don’t forget that you can’t base too much off of a postseason game matching up two 7-5 teams. They’re 7-5 power conference teams for a reason (Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde). Oh, and Michigan had no business playing in that game. They had a losing Big 10 record, amongst other things.

That said, trends are trends, and the Big 10 ain’t setting a good one recently, that’s for sure.

When I’m in the presence of greatness, I tend to listen a great deal. And be at the ready to tend your fire and keep the glasses filled.

Winter Night

Pile high the hickory and the light
Log of chestnut struck by the blight.
Welcome-in the winter night.

The day has gone in hewing and felling,
Sawing and drawing wood to the dwelling
For the night of talk and story-telling.

These are the hours that give the edge
To the blunted axe and the bent wedge,
Straighten the saw and lighten the sledge.

Here are question and reply,
And the fire reflected in the thinking eye.
So peace, and let the bob-cat cry.

Don’t you love that? Last year while I was still living in my house, my gas water heater went out and I couldn’t get it started so I called the gas company. They said they would be there by 6:00 that night…waited until 8 before I finally called. I was told the guy came, but could not find a place to park so he left. Never called, didn’t bother to park in my driveway to ask if it was ok, just left. And so we had no hot water for another 24 hours until the guy could come back the following night…between 4-8 pm (he showed up around 9)

I saw him hole out a bunker shot at the Atlanta Country Club a few years ago. The green was just below eye level and he was directly across from me, about 60 or 70 feet, out of the bunker, tracked across the green and into the hole. A thing of beauty. He is a big dude by the way, much bigger than I thought.

cab–one time while living in Boston, I had a small electrical fire. The fire department came, put it out and cut off the electricity to the apartment. It could not be turned back on until an electrician fixed the problem and the city electrical inspector came to sign off on it. Unfortunately, we were in the midst of a declared snow emergency so no cars could be parked on my street. When the electrician came, I stood guard by his running car. Fortunately, the inspector came by and was lenient. He let the electrician just tie of the part of the wiring that was bad, let the electrician say how he would repair it, and so authorized turning the power back on. Otherwise, I would have to be without power for a few days until they could park downstairs.

“gee I had almost forgotten what a bi+ch parking was in some places no more of that crap anyway”

Yeh. In Boston, I just sold my car, so it did not impact me too much. In Chicago, parking drove me crazy. Because I lived right by the lake, half the time the street was taken up by people going to the beach. There is nothing worse than doing a weeks’ worth of groceries and having to park 4-5 blocks away or being lazy and double parking with hazard lights and to come out and find cops checking out your car.

I guess it’s slow enough to give you my weird postal story. It happened about 2 months ago, shortly after we got the letter carriers from hell. I was on the phone with my friend, Rich. I was expecting something in the mail, and I heard the mail person come. I asked Rich to hang on while I checked to see if I received what I was expecting.

Not only didn’t I receive what I was hoping for, I got someone else’s mail. The house number was correct, but the street was over a mile away.

Are you ready for this. I recognized the address. Why? Because the address of the mail I received was a house that Rich had lived in for a long time, and just sold about 6 months before. He knew the person’s name on the envelope because he sold her the house. How weird was that.
