We’ve BEEN doing the whole charcoal thing and I finally realized he’d do much more grilling without the cussing and fussing over which charcoal worked better, etc., etc., etc. Finally caved and got him a propane grill.

A few of the pitchers I remember from the Mitchell Report included Kevin Brown, Eric Gagne, Mike Stanton, Kent Mercker, Paul Byrd and John Rocker. I am sure there were others there and many others not identified. When they started testing in the minor leagues, it was about a 50-50 split between pitchers and batters, I believe.

I think Denny Neagle was on the list as well.

Moe Berg, John Rocker is no surprise. That dude had so many issues, left and right. I was 11 or 12 and that dude cussed me out because I was watching him pitch in the bull pen, and some drunk jack-ass standing next to me was trying to get his attention.

I think it’s more to do with the inconsistency of his work during the past two decades, since the great Sign O’ The Times album.

But Prince in his prime was among the greatest of all time!

richbrave, Yep, there were. When you look at position players, that list goes up–Gary Sheffield, Matt Franco, David Justice, Todd Pratt, Wally Joyner, Ken Caminiti. Probably some others. Although many of them were implicated when they were playing elsewhere and not in Atlanta.

I posted this Last Night…But It will be fun to have everyone’s input since I will be posting it for the next 3 days I guess. Not to mention it will pass up the time since Janurary is a Boring Month, minus playoff Sundays

We Need To hear everyones input…D.O.B. needs to be the M.C.

Best Poster
worst poster
most annoying poster
most insightful poster
biggest homer
hypest poster
most hostile poster
most hypocritical poster
most delusional poster
Rookie of the Year poster
Most Ignored Poster
wittiest poster
most liberal poster (the one who takes stuff way too seriously)
most reactionary poster
etc…

Feel Free to add categories/name…Since D.O.B. monitors the blog and reacts with everyone his imput would be best…Not to mention I might need to start doing the awards at the end of the season since this time of the year is the slowest on the blog…

Oh Yeah and each poster who gets nominated gets to select their own music to D.O.B.

And you have to start the theme with the Monday Night Football Music just like they did on the Racial Draft on Chappelle’s Show

The Lynchburg Hillcats are proud to announce they have signed a four-year Player Development contract with the Atlanta Braves. The Hillcats will serve as Atlanta’s Advanced-A affiliate through the 2014 season.
“We are very excited to form this partnership with the Atlanta Braves,” said Lynchburg Hillcats General Manager Paul Sunwall. “The Braves have a strong fan base in the Central Virginia area and we are looking forward to working with this premier organization.”

During the 2010 season the Cincinnati Reds fulfilled the final year of a two-year agreement with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates served as Lynchburg’s parent club for 15 seasons prior to last year. This past season while serving as the High-A affiliate of the Reds, the Hillcats had an overall record of 61-77 and finished in seventh place in the composite standings in the eight-team Carolina League. The Braves were previously affiliated with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Carolina League from 1999 through last season.

“We are excited to enter into a new relationship in Lynchburg,” said Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager, Frank Wren. “We have a great respect for Calvin Falwell and Paul Sunwall and the baseball operation in Lynchburg. We think it will be a great new affiliation to add to our system and the close proximity to Danville is ideal for our player development.”

A press conference will be held on Friday, September 24th at Lynchburg City Stadium to discuss the recently-signed agreement. The exact location and a time for the press conference are still to be determined.

The 2011 season will get underway on April 8th and the home opener is set for April 15th at Lynchburg City Stadium. Season and book tickets go on sale on October 1st. You can purchase tickets by stopping by the ticket office Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., or call us at 434-528-1144

Trey

“Trey………….I could care less how healthy he is. His skills have deteriorated. Chipper Jones hasnt been Chipper Jones since 2008. He’s been The Gimper the past 2 years.

If Fredo doesnt drop him to the #6 hole…..then the Braves are going to be paying $13 mil to a #3 hitter whose main asset is drawing walks (in other words, a “punch and judy hitter”).

However, Heyward’s speed is going to be wasted in the #6 hole. Doesnt sound like putting the best line-up out there”

Chipper has been the face of the Braves organization for many years, and I think he should get a little bit more time to prove he is still capable. He didn’t do so hot two years ago, and last year he started getting into a groove before getting hurt. He may not be a .300 hitter anymore, but; he still deserves a chance to prove he can benefit the organization. Honestly, I don’t mind him batting in the three hole. He was still able to get the line drives and put power into the ball.

nolie

Chipper in the 6 hole with his OBP makes absolutely no sense at all, but hey no surprise there…

jeffrey d

First of all, I don’t get why people who complain so much keep sticking around to complain.

Second, DOB is a beat reporter, not a 1930’s detective in suspenders who interrogates suspects under a single hot lamp. He reports what the Braves give him.

Third, we’re getting as close to the locker room and our favorite players’ lives as we’re ever going to get. We’re getting behind-the-scenes info that we’d never get otherwise. Yet there’s always someone who’s going to gripe about it.

nolie

January 3rd, 2011
8:24 pm

didn’t say he should bat third, but better that than 6th. he’d still be on base for the productine hitters in the middle of the line up.

Trey

January 3rd, 2011
8:24 pm

“Having a #3 hitter who hits for little power and drives in few runs make no sense either.”

He may not hit as many home runs like the past, but; he can still move ‘em over when they are on.

nolie

January 3rd, 2011
8:27 pm

I agree that Hey should not bat 6th either, but with 5 pretty high OBP guys ahead of him his power would be a plus at that spot. anyway it’s not like it’s cast in stone or that changes aren’t usually made during the year.

Trey

January 3rd, 2011
8:28 pm

Real Braves Fan, can I see your idea of a pefect lineup?

Trey

January 3rd, 2011
8:30 pm

Real Braves Fan, didn’t say Heyward should bat sixth. I did say that C Jones should get an opportunity to prove that he can still provide for the Braves. If KK got so many chance to prove he could pitch; why not allow a great hitter throughout the years prove he can still provide some run support? If he doesn’t improve, then drop him in the lineup.

Tomahawkin

January 3rd, 2011
8:30 pm

Gotta Have Hoss Hitting Second, Nuff said…! I love Hoss but He has been one of the most unproductive 3 hole hitters in the league since the start of 2009

y’all are way too hung up on a specific line up slot for everybody. If Chipper hits 3rd he still gets on base a lot so the 4-5-6 guys provide the power. not all that big a deal. Lineups are waaaay overrated unless you do something as crazy as bat the slowest guy on the team at lead off and the pitcher at cleanup.
